Abstract
Readily available cyclohexa‐2,5‐dien‐1‐ylcarbonyl chloride derivatives are introduced as bench‐stable HCl surrogates for transfer hydrochlorination of terminal and internal alkenes as well as selected alkynes. The stepwise Grob fragmentation of those acyl chlorides into chloride, carbon monoxide, a low‐molecular‐weight arene, and a proton is promoted by B(C6F5)3. This decarbonylative transfer process enables the addition of HCl across C−C double and triple bonds with Markovnikov selectivity at room temperature.

Abstract
An effective method for the asymmetric synthesis of 3-amino-2-oxindoles was developed. The tetrasubstituted chiral carbon center was generated by asymmetric amination of N-unprotected 2-oxindoles with azodicarboxylate catalyzed by commercial biscinchona alkaloids in good to excellent yields with high enantioselectivities.

Abstract
Azabicyclo[4.3.0]nonanes were assembled, from chiral allylsilanes possessing an oxime moiety, using a stereocontrolled formal [2 + 2 + 2] radical-ionic process. The cascade involves the addition of an alpha-iodoester to the less substituted end of the enoxime which is then followed by a 5-exo-trig cyclization onto the aldoxime function, producing an alkoxyaminyl radical species which finally lactamizes to afford the titled piperidinone. High levels of stereoinduction were observed, demonstrating the ability of a silicon group located at the allylic position to efficiently control the stereochemistry of the two newly created stereogenic centers. When the radical cascade was extended to ketoximes, the resulting sterically hindered alkoxyaminyl radical did not react further with the initiator Et3B to produce the expected nucleophilic amidoborane complex. In sharp contrast, this long-lived radical recombined with the initial alpha-stabilized ester radical to produce a cyclopentane incorporating two ester fragments.

Abstract
The radical reaction of benzenethiol with S-4-pentynyl carbamothioates provides a valuable protocol for the tin-free generation of carbamoyl radicals, which arise from intramolecular substitution at sulfur by the initial sulfanylvinyl radicals. This procedure can be usefully employed to achieve N-benzylcarbamoyl radical 5-exo and 4-exo cyclizations leading, respectively, to pyrrolidinones and azetidinones, although, for the latter, it seems of lesser utility. Novel evidence is presented that N-tosyl-substituted carbamoyl radicals display a peculiar tendency to yield the corresponding isocyanate by beta-elimination of the tosyl radical.

Abstract
Suites of new precursors designed around a cyclohexadiene core and intended to mediate "clean" radical chain syntheses have been prepared and tested. 1-Functionalized cyclohexa-2,5-dienes were found to readily donate H-atoms, and the resulting cyclohexadienyl radicals rapidly extruded their functional group as a free radical, because this beta-scission restored aromaticity to the ring. This concept was employed to generate designer radicals from esters of the corresponding alcohols with 1-methyl- or 1-phenylcyclohexa-2,5-diene-1-carboxylic acids. In a similar way, pre-adapted carbamoyl radicals were obtained from cyclohexadienyl-amides and proved advantageous for syntheses of alpha- and beta-lactams. Oxime ether substituted carbamoyl radicals cyclized successfully in convenient syntheses of dihydroindolin-2-ones with N-functionality at the 3-position. Similarly, silicon-centered radicals were obtained from 1-silylated cyclohexadienes, and these reagents proved to be very efficient, environmentally benign organotin hydride substitutes. Radical reactions including reductions, cyclizations, intermolecular additions, and hydrosilylations were carried out in high yields with this reagent. Other heteroatom-centered radicals, especially N-centered radicals, were obtained from appropriate cyclohexadienes enabling chain hydroaminations to be conducted. Several of the cyclohexadiene precursors proved to be useful for electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopic purposes, and this enabled rate constants for fragmentations of the cyclohexadienyl radicals to be obtained. Kinetic data for H-atom abstraction from cyclohexadienes, the second propagation step of the chain processes, was derived from customized radical clocks and from EPR measurements. In this way, conceptual tools were developed for improving future synthetic methodology based around these reagents.
