Abstract
Thioacetates as precursors of thiols are interesting starting points for synthesizing other organosulfur compounds. Herein, we propose a simple, efficient and fast method to obtain organic thioacetates using water as a solvent. Taking into account the great attention that has been paid toward environmentally friendly synthetic procedures in the past decades, we prove the role and the strength of the thioacetate anion as a nucleophile for nucleophilic displacement reactions in an aqueous medium. The reactions were carried out under pH control, to prevent the decomposition of the mesylate starting materials, using potassium carbonate as a safe and mild base. A simple work up allows products to be obtained with excellent yield and acceptable purity.

Abstract
An efficient synthetic method for establishing chiral α-thio-α-quaternary stereogenic center was successfully developed. The enantioselective α-alkylation of α-acylthiomalonates under phase-transfer catalytic conditions [50% aq. KOH, toluene, -20 °C, and (S,S)-3,4,5-trifluorophenyl-NAS bromide] provided the corresponding α-acylthio-α-alkylmalonates in high chemical yields (up to 99%) and high optical yields (up to 98% ee).

Abstract
Stereocontrolled intramolecular aziridination of the glycal-derived sulfamates offers a highly efficient strategy to divergently prepare aminoglycosides. Rhodium-catalyzed nitrogen-atom transfer to C==C bonds formed semistable aziridines, which were subjected to various nucleophiles (C, O, S, and N) to give cyclic sulfamate-containing aminosugar derivatives selectively. The second nucleophilic displacement of sulfonyloxy moieties of [1,2,3]-oxathiazepane-2,2- dioxides allows straightforward access to aminoglycosides with selective alpha- or beta-linkages. This approach is operationally simple, complements existing methods, and is a versatile protocol for the synthesis of polyfunctionalized amino sugars. In addition, the mechanism of the rhodium-catalyzed intramolecular aziridination of glycals and its ring-opening reaction was extensively studied by using DFT calculations.

Abstract
[reaction: see text] As the unusual amino acid norlanthionine (nor-Lan) has previously been incorporated into cyclic peptide analogues of the ring C of lantibiotic nisin, we report here the stereoselective synthesis of the new (S,R)- and (R,R)-alpha-methylnorlanthionines (alpha-Me-nor-Lan). The orthogonally protected derivatives of these compounds have also been prepared. The key step in the synthesis of these bisamino acids was the S(N)2 opening reaction of the corresponding cyclic sulfamidates with the SH group of appropriately protected l-cysteine derivatives.

Abstract
This work is connected with the epibatidine field and describes the synthesis of several analogues of compounds that present affinity for nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, such as 3-[1-methyl-2-(S)-pyrrolidinylmethoxy]pyridine (A-84543). These analogues bear a 3-pyridyl ether substituent at the bridgehead carbon of the azabicyclo[2.2.n]alkane system. Particularly, in the case of the 1-substituted 2-azabicyclo[2.2.2]octane system, a new synthetic route has been developed, which involves the synthesis of a novel rigid sulfamidate that allows the straightforward introduction of nucleophiles.

Abstract
Lantibiotics such as nisin are active against most Gram-positive bacteria and constitute an important class of antibacterial agents. These ribosomally synthesized peptides contain either one or both of the unusual amino acids meso-lanthionine (m-Lan) or beta-methyllanthionine (beta-MeLan). Nucleophilic ring opening of sulfamidates allows facile preparation of stereochemically pure derivatives of m-Lan and beta-MeLan with orthogonal protection for solid phase synthesis of lantibiotic analogues.
