Abstract
An efficient visible-light-induced Staudinger [2 + 2] annulation reaction between α-diazo ketones and dibenzo[b,f][1,4]oxazepine/thiazepine-imines under catalyst-free conditions has been developed. This protocol provides a facile method to synthesize tetracyclic dibenzo[b,f][1,4]oxazepine/thiazepine-fused β-lactams bearing a quaternary carbon center with a broad substrate scope and high efficiency (37 examples, up to >99% yield).

Abstract
A novel and unexpected route for synthesizing pyrrole-fused dibenzoxazepines/thiazepines has been designed based on a modified Ugi reaction of cyclic imines with isocyanides and acetylenedicarboxylates under catalyst-free conditions. Mechanism investigation indicates that this process is carried out through the production of zwitterion species (Huisgen's 1,4-dipole), which is a key intermediate in the chemoselectivity of products. This Huisgen's 1,4-dipole is trapped in situ with isocyanides and a variety of pyrrole-fused dibenzoxazepines/thiazepines are synthesized in a simple one-pot operation with high yields and chemoselectivity. This strategy opens a new route in Ugi reactions (pseudo-Joullié-Ugi reaction) for the synthesis of pyrrole-fused heterocycles as special pharmaceutical scaffolds.

Abstract
Diastereoselective synthesis of water-soluble fullerene compounds bearing a pharmacophore pyrrolofullerene-2',5'-dicarboxylate unit is reported. The stereocontrol of the product configuration is achieved through stereospecificity of two consecutive concerted reactions: electrocyclic aziridine ring opening followed by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of the resulting azomethyne ylide. The solubility in water (up to 20 μM through direct dissolution) is secured by introducing a polyethylene glycol (PEG) hydrophilic pendant. The structure and molecular-mass distribution of the resulting PEGylated fulleropyrrolidines are exhaustively characterized by 1H, 13C NMR and HRMS. According to absorbance spectroscopy, AFM and DLS studies, the synthesized compound tends to aggregate in aqueous media forming associates of ca. 4-9 nm radius surrounded by a solvation shell resulting in an effective hydrodynamic diameter of ca. 90 nm. In view of notable solubility in water, well-defined chemical structure and resemblance to the compounds with known anti-HIV activity, the synthesized PEGylated diethyl trans-pyrrolofullerene-2',5'-dicarboxylate might be an attractive candidate for biological evaluation.

Abstract
An efficient protocol for the catalytic asymmetric synthesis of new dibenzo[ b, f][1,4]-oxazepine-fused 1,2-dihydropyridines (DHPs) has been described under metal-free conditions. This reaction proceeds through proline-catalyzed direct Mannich/cyclization between seven-membered dibenzo[ b, f][1,4]-oxazepine-imines and aqueous glutaraldehyde, followed by IBX-mediated site-selective dehydrogenative oxidation in one-pot operation with high yields (up to 92%) and excellent enantioselectivity (up to >99:1 er).

Abstract
A novel, efficient, and highly regioselective Lewis acid-catalyzed [3 + 2] cycloaddition of alkynes with azomethine ylides, which are easily obtained from N-tosylaziridines via C-C bond heterolysis at room temperature was developed. Moderate enantioselectivity (70% ee) can be achieved by the application of the commercially available chiral Pybox 7 as the ligand.
