Abstract
Herein, we report a metal-free intramolecular carbofluorination protocol for the synthesis of tetrasubstituted monofluoroalkenes from internal α,β-ynones and Selectfluor with both high stereoselectivity and broad functional group tolerance. The chelation between tetrafluoroborate anion and the oxygen present in the aldehyde group rendered the reaction highly stereoselective, with the tetrafluoroborate serving as the direct fluorine source. Therefore, with addition of sodium tetrafluoroborate, Selectfluor could be reused several times without sacrificing reactivity.

Abstract
A nickel-catalyzed difluoroalkylation of α-C-H bonds of aryl ketones to furnish highly stereo-defined tetrasubstituted monofluoroalkenes or quaternary alkyl difluorides from secondary or tertiary ketones, respectively, has been established. Mechanistic investigations indicated that these C-H fluoroalkylations proceed via a Ni(i)/Ni(iii) catalytic cycle. An obvious fluorine effect was observed in the reaction, and this reaction has demonstrated high stereoselectivity, mild conditions, and broad substrate scopes, thus enabling the late-stage fluoroalkylation of bioactive molecules. This method offers a solution for expedient construction of monofluoroalkenes from readily available materials, and provides an efficient approach for the synthesis of bioactive fluorinated compounds for the discovery of lead compounds in medicinal chemistry.

Abstract
Triamidoamine (Tren) complexes of the p- and d-block elements have been well-studied, and they display a diverse array of chemistry of academic, industrial and biological significance. Such in-depth investigations are not as widespread for Tren complexes of uranium, despite the general drive to better understand the chemical behaviour of uranium by virtue of its fundamental position within the nuclear sector. However, the chemistry of Tren-uranium complexes is characterised by the ability to stabilise otherwise reactive, multiply bonded main group donor atom ligands, construct uranium-metal bonds, promote small molecule activation, and support single molecule magnetism, all of which exploit the steric, electronic, thermodynamic and kinetic features of the Tren ligand system. This Feature Article presents a current account of the chemistry of Tren-uranium complexes.

Abstract
The first metal-free catalysts are reported for the methylation of amines with carbon dioxide. Proazaphosphatrane superbases prove to be highly active catalysts in the reductive functionalization of CO2, in the presence of hydroboranes. The new methodology enables the methylation of N-H bonds in a wide variety of amines, including secondary amines, with increased chemoselectivity.

Abstract
A new tripodal trisamidophosphine ligand (1) based on the trisbenzylphosphine backbone has been synthesized in three steps starting from NaPH2 and phthaloyl-protected 2-aminobenzyl bromide. At elevated temperatures, 1 reacts directly with M(NMe2)4 (M = Zr, Hf) to afford the dimethylamido complexes [PN3]M(NMe2) (M = Zr, Hf) (2), which are easily converted into the corresponding triflates [PN3]MOTf (M = Zr, Hf) (3) via reaction with triethylsilyl trifluoromethanesulfonate. The related titanium chloro complex [PN3]TiCl (4-Ti) is obtained from 1 and Bn3TiCl via protonolysis. Triple deprotonation of 1 with n-butyllithium affords the tris-lithium salt Li3[PN3] (1-Li), which serves as a common starting material for the preparation of all the group(IV) chlorides [PN3]MCl (M = Ti, Zr, Hf) (4). Upon treatment of 4-Ti with Bn2Mg(thf)2, formation of a benzyltitanium species is observed, which is converted cleanly into a ligand-CH-activated species (5-Ti).

Abstract
An efficient synthesis of olefins by the coupling of stabilized, semistabilized, and nonstabilized phosphorus ylides with various carbonyl compounds in the presence of silver carbonate is reported. Wittig olefination of aromatic, heteroaromatic, and aliphatic aldehydes (yields >63%) and a ketone (yield 42%) are demonstrated. These reactions proceed overnight at room temperature, under weakly basic conditions, and as such extend the applicability of the Wittig reaction to base-sensitive reactants.

Abstract
Δ2-Thiazolines are interesting heterocycles that display a wide variety of biological characteristics. They are also common in chiral ligands used for asymmetric syntheses and as synthetic intermediates. Herein, we present asymmetric routes to 2,4,5-trisubstituted Δ2-thiazolines. These Δ2-thiazolines were synthesized from readily accessible/commercially available α,β-unsaturated methyl esters through a Sharpless asymmetric dihydroxylation and an O→N acyl migration reaction as key steps. The final products were obtained in good yields with up to 97% enantiomeric excess.

Abstract
Mild, efficient and racemization-free synthesis of N-protected α, β-unsaturated γ-amino esters with unprecedented high E- stereoselectivity is described. This method is found to be compatible with Boc-, Fmoc- and other side chain protecting groups. The crystal conformations of the vinylogous γ-amino esters in monomers and in homo- and mixed dipeptides are studied. Further, the vinylogous homo-dipeptide showed a β-sheet conformation, while mixed α- and α,β-unsaturated γ-hybrid dipeptide adapted an irregular structure in single crystals.
