Abstract
Sulfur ylides are an important class of organic compounds due to their ability to perform many different transformations that can give diverse and interesting products with a high degree of complexity. Although metal-catalyzed transformations are frequent in this class of compounds, organocatalyzed transformations remain scarce. From initial works, this review aims to show organocatalyzed transformations from sulfur ylides, involving cyclopropanation and formal N–H, S–H, and C–H insertion reactions, including enantioselective versions. The proposed mechanisms and the modes of activation of these organocatalysts will be covered. Furthermore, advances in this area and potential challenges to be circumvented in the near future will also be discussed.

Abstract
An enantioselective cyclopropanation reaction of sulfoxonium ylides with β,γ-unsaturated ketoesters catalyzed by a chiral rhodium catalyst has been realized. A variety of optically pure 1,2,3-trisubstituted cyclopropanes was synthesized in 48-89% yields, with up to 99% ee, and with dr >20:1. Furthermore, research shows that a weak coordination between the chiral rhodium catalyst and β,γ-unsaturated ketoesters was responsible for the high diastereoselectivity and enantioselectivity of the corresponding products.

Abstract
An organocatalyzed enantioselective γ-elimination process has been achieved and applied in the kinetic resolution of peroxides to access chiral peroxides and epoxides. The reaction provided a pathway for the preparation of two useful synthetic and biologically important structural motifs through a single-step reaction. A range of substrates has been resolved with a selectivity factor up to 63. The obtained enantioenriched peroxides and epoxides allowed a series of transformations with retained optical purities.

Abstract
Organosulfur compounds have long played a vital role in organic chemistry and in the development of novel chemical structures and architectures. Prominent among these organosulfur compounds are those involving a sulfur(IV) center, which have been the subject of countless investigations over more than a hundred years. In addition to a long list of textbook sulfur-based reactions, there has been a sustained interest in the chemistry of organosulfur(IV) compounds in recent years. Of particular interest within organosulfur chemistry is the ease with which the synthetic chemist can effect a wide range of transformations through either bond formation or bond cleavage at sulfur. This review aims to cover the developments of the past decade in the chemistry of organic sulfur(IV) molecules and provide insight into both the wide range of reactions which critically rely on this versatile element and the diverse scaffolds that can thereby be synthesized.

Abstract
The use of carbonyl-stabilized ammonium- and sulfonium ylides allows for the synthesis of highly-functionalized trifluoroacetyl-substituted cyclopropanes. It turned out that the diastereoselectivities strongly depend on the nature of the chosen ylide and the employed base. The products could be obtained in good yields under operationally simple conditions.

Abstract
Cyclopropane rings are versatile building blocks in organic chemistry. Their synthesis, by the reaction of sulfur ylides with α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds, has recently aroused renewed interest after the discovery of efficient catalysis by using (S)-indoline-2-carboxylic acid. In order to rationalize the behavior of this catalyst, MacMillan proposed a directed electrostatic activation (DEA) mechanism, in which the negative carboxylate group interacts with the positive thionium moiety, thus reducing the activation energy and increasing the reaction rate. More recently, Mayr refuted some of MacMillan conclusions, but accepted the DEA mechanism as a justification for the experimental high reaction rates. In contrast, our results indicate that the selectivity obtained in the process seems to result from several strong hydrogen bond interactions between the two reacting species, while no strong evidence for a DEA mechanism was found. We also concluded that the hydrogen bonds don't improve the reaction rate by lowering the activation energy of the rate-determining step, but can do it by promoting efficient reaction trajectories due to long-range complexation of the reagents. Finally, our results confirm that the cyclopropanation reaction occurs by a two-step mechanism, and that the overall enantioselectivity depends on the relative energies of the two steps, averaged by the relative populations of the iminium intermediates that are initially formed in the reaction.

Abstract
Chiral thioureas and squaramides are among the most prominent hydrogen-bond bifunctional organocatalysts now extensively used for various transformations, including aldol, Michael, Mannich and Diels-Alder reactions. More importantly, the experimental and computational study of the mode of activation has begun to attract considerable attention. Various experimental, spectroscopic and calculation methods are now frequently used, often as an integrated approach, to establish the reaction mechanism, the mode of activation or explain the stereochemical outcome of the reaction. This article comprises several case studies, sorted according to the method used in their study. The aim of this review is to give the investigators an overview of the methods currently utilized for mechanistic investigations in hydrogen-bonding organocatalysis.

Abstract
A simple chiral diamine catalyst 1h was successfully applied in the asymmetric cyclopropanation of cinnamone derivatives with stabilized sulfur ylides. The desired cyclopropanation adducts were obtained in moderate yields (up to 68%) with good enantioselectivities (67-93% ee) and excellent diastereoselectivities (>95:5) under mild conditions.
