Abstract
As part of natural products or biologically active compounds, the synthesis of nitrogen-containing heterocycles is becoming incredibly valuable. Palladium is a transition metal that is widely utilized as a catalyst to facilitate carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom coupling; it is used in the synthesis of various heterocycles. This review includes the twelve years of successful indole synthesis using various palladium catalysts to establish carbon-carbon or carbon-nitrogen coupling, as well as the conditions that have been optimized.

Abstract
An operationally simple method for synthesizing 2-amino azines via [3+2] dipolar cycloaddition of azine N-oxide with carbodiimide has been demonstrated. The reaction can proceed smoothly under simple heating conditions without any transition metal catalyst, activator, base, and solvent. This transformation demonstrates a broad substrate scope and produces CO2 as the only co-product. The applicability of this method is highlighted by the late-stage modification of bioactive molecules, including quinine, (±)-α-tocopherol, and tryptamine modified quinoline.

Abstract
A water-soluble and low-valent rhenium(I) catalyst for the C2 alkenylation of N-pyridyl/N-pyrimidylindole derivatives with ynamides under mild conditions using water as the solvent has been described. The reaction of N-pyridyl/N-pyrimidyl indole with the ynamide afforded the C2-Z-selective alkenylation derivative as the sole product, and the reactions of N-pyrimidylanilines delivered the corresponding N-alkenylated product rather than the expected C-H alkenylation products in high yields under the same conditions.

Abstract
The development of site-selective C-H functionalizations/annulations is one of the most challenging practices in synthetic organic chemistry particularly for substrates bearing several similarly reactive C-H bonds. Herein, we describe catalyst and solvent controlled ortho/peri site-selective oxidative annulation of C-H bonds of N-aryl substituted quinazolin-4-amines with internal alkynes. The ortho C-H selective annulation was observed using Pd-catalyst in DMF to give indole-quinazoline derivatives, while, Ru-catalyst in PEG-400 favoured the peri C-H bond annulation exclusively to furnish pyrido-quinazoline derivatives.

Abstract
Two coordination polymers of Zn(II) and Cu(II) with n-butylmalonic acid have been achieved in this work. The crystallographic structural descriptions along with the sedimentary rock-type microstructural morphology of these two coordination polymers (CPs) have been explored. The reactivity of β-hydroxy ketones with these two CPs has also been investigated. The Zn(II)-CP shows a specific reactivity with β-hydroxy ketone at room temperature and in open air conditions. Through a microcolumn-based filtration technique, the Zn(II)-CP shows the capability to break the Csp3-Csp3 σ bonds of β-hydroxy ketone and simultaneously reduce the associated ketone to alcohol. Such conversion has been progressed without the use of any additional external reducing agent and any chemical workup or column chromatographic purification protocol. Other similar type CPs of Cu(II) and Mn(II) with n-butylmalonic acid completely failed to show similar reactivity with β-hydroxy ketone. On the basis of much experimental evidence, the most possible mechanistic pathway of the reactivity between β-hydroxy ketone and Zn(II)-CP has also been proposed through this work.

Abstract
A transition-metal-free deoxygenative C-H amination reaction of azine-N-oxides with acyl azides is described. The initial formation of an isocyanate from the starting acyl azide via a Curtius rearrangement can trigger a [3 + 2] dipolar cycloaddition of polar N-oxide fragments to generate the aminated azine derivative. The applicability of this method is highlighted by the late-stage and sequential amination reactions of complex bioactive compounds, including quinidine and fasudil. Moreover, the direct transformation of aminated azines into various bioactive N-heterocycles illustrates the significance of this newly developed protocol.

Abstract
Starting from arylboronic acids and ester (Z)-3-aminoacrylates, one-pot syntheses of diverse indole-3-carboxylic esters have been described through copper(ii)-catalyzed sequential Chan–Lam N-arylation and cross-dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) reactions. The initial Chan–Lam arylation can proceed in DMF at 100 °C for 24 h to give ester (Z)-3-(arylamino)acrylate intermediates in the presence of Cu(OAc)2/tri-tert-butylphosphine tetrafluoroborate, a catalytic amount of myristic acid as the additive, KMnO4 and KHCO3. Sequentially, these in situ arylated intermediates can undergo an intramolecular oxidative cross-dehydrogenative coupling process in mixed solvents (DMF/DMSO = 2 : 1) at 130 °C to give C3-functionalized multi-substituted indole derivatives. One-pot syntheses of diverse indole-3-carboxylic esters have been described through copper(ii)-catalyzed sequential oxidative Chan–Lam N-arylation and cross-dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) reaction.![]()

Abstract
An efficient palladium-catalyzed decarboxylative ortho-acylation of anilines with α-oxocarboxylic acids has been realized by using carbamate as a directing group (DG). The reaction proceeds smoothly with high regioselectivity to afford diverse acylation products of aniline derivatives in moderate to good yields under mild conditions. This transformation exhibits broad substrate scope and highly functional group tolerance. In addition, the employed DG can be easily removed to give the corresponding 2-amino aromatic ketones. Importantly, several transformations of the synthesized ortho-acylated anilines into several synthetically valuable products have been demonstrated for their utilities.

Abstract
The synthesis of π-extended 10-aryl-pyrenoimidazoles having different substituents was realised via Ru(ii)-catalyzed oxidative annulation of 10-aryl-pyrenoimidazole with diphenylacetylene. The single crystal X-ray structure of trifluoromethyl and carboxylate substituted annulated-10-aryl-pyrenoimidazoles confirms the near coplanarity of the pyrene and imidazole moieties and the presence of twisted conformation resulting in intermolecular C-Hπ interactions. The lowest energy absorption maximum becomes red-shifted characteristic to the nature of the substituent owing to the extended π-conjugation, and specifically the nitro substituent shows intense absorption in the visible region with the maximum at 440 nm. All the molecules were found to show intense fluorescence both in solution and solid states. Strikingly, 170 nm red-shifted fluorescence with a large Stokes shift ca. 7000 cm-1 for the nitro derivative, a value nearly two-fold higher than the parent compound despite its rigid polyaromatic skeleton was observed. The combination of electron rich π-conjugated aromatic systems with electron deficient substituents induces the intramolecular charge transfer interactions, which has been corroborated with the theoretical calculations.

Abstract
Indoles and azaindoles are among the most important heterocycles because of their prevalence in nature and their broad utility in pharmaceutical industry. Reported herein is an unprecedented noble-metal- and oxidant-free electrochemical method for the coupling of (hetero)arylamines with tethered alkynes to synthesize highly functionalized indoles, as well as the more challenging azaindoles.

Abstract
N-Pyridylation of various N-heteroarenes, including N-heteroarene-containing peptides, was achieved using N-propargyl enaminones (isolated or generated in situ from propargyl amine and propynones) as masked polysubstituted pyridine cores. This metal-free procedure proceeds under mild reaction conditions and generates 1 equiv of H2O as the sole byproduct.
