Abstract
Various alkenes are formylated with dichloromethyl methyl ether (MOMCl2) by the combined use of SnCl4/2,6-dibromopyridine (B1) or AgOTf/pyridine (B4) via Friedel-Crafts-type reaction. The former reagent combination is mainly applied to α,α-diarylalkenes, while the latter one is applied not only to arylalkenes but also to some alkylalkenes. Vinyl aldehydes are exclusively obtained from alkenes that can possibly afford both allyl and vinyl aldehydes.

Abstract
α-Functionalized α,β-unsaturated aldehydes is an important class of compounds, which are widely used in fine organic synthesis, biology, medicine and pharmacology, chemical industry, and agriculture. Some of the 2-substituted 2-alkenals are found to be the key metabolites in plant and animal cells. Therefore, the development of efficient methods for their synthesis attracts the attention of organic chemists. This review focusses on the recent advances in the synthesis of 2-functionally substituted 2-alkenals. The approaches to the preparation of α-alkyl α,β-unsaturated aldehydes are not included in this review.

Abstract
Pediatric obstructive sleep apnea presents in up to 7% of children and represents a constellation from nasal turbulence to cessation in gas exchange. There are numerous end organ sequelae including neurocognitive morbidity associated with persistent OSA. Adenotonsillectomy (AT), the first line therapy for pediatric OSA, has not been demonstrated to reduce all end organ morbidity, specifically neurological and behavioral morbidity. Furthermore, certain at-risk populations are at higher risk from neurocognitive morbidity. Precise knowledge and perioperative planning is required to ensure optimal evidence-based practices in children with OSA. This comprehensive review covers the seminal perioperative implications of OSA, including preoperative polysomnography, pharmacotherapeutics, and postoperative risk stratification.

Abstract
Monofluoroalkenes are versatile fluorinated synthons in organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry and materials science. In light of the importance of alkyl-substituted monofluoroalkenes efficient synthesis of these moieties still represents a synthetic challenge. Herein, we described a mild and efficient methodology to obtain monofluoroalkenes through a stereospecific palladium-catalyzed alkylation of gem-bromofluoroalkenes with primary and strained secondary alkylboronic acids under mild conditions. This novel strategy gives access to a wide range of functionalized tri- and tetrasubstituted monofluoroalkenes in high yield, with good functional group tolerance, independently from the gem-bromofluoroalkenes geometry.

Abstract
A unique domino reaction of enolizable carbonyl compounds with Me3SiCF2Br to construct α-fluoroenones and α-fluoroenals is described to undergo the in situ formation of difluorocarbene and silyl enol ether, difluorocyclopropanation, desilylation, ring-opening, and defluorination sequence. In this tandem reaction, Me3SiCF2Br acts as not only the difluorocarbene source but also the TMS transfer agent as well as internal bromide and fluoride anion catalyst. It allows the transformations to occur smoothly under only a catalytic amount of n-Bu4NBr as initiator.
