Abstract
Self-assembly of Hg(ClO4)2 with a new bidentate ligand (L) in acetone at room temperature produces single crystals consisting of unusual discrete tetranuclear complexes [Hg4(ClO4)4(CH2COCH2)2L2]·CH3COCH3via straightforward formation of dianionic acetonylate -CH2COCH2- in a quantitative yield.

Abstract
A novel approach for the synthesis of tetracyclic indoles and 7-azaindoles is reported. The strategy involves four steps, with a fast rt intramolecular α-arylation of ketones as key step. The reaction was inspected synthetically to achieve the synthesis of 11 novel tetracyclic structures with moderate to very good yields (39-85%). Theoretical combined with experimental studies led us to propose a probable polar mechanism (concerted SNAr).

Abstract
Herein, we report two novel methods for the synthesis of pyrimidine fused quinolines using a one-pot C-C and C-N bond forming strategy from the reaction of 6-aminouracils with 2-bromobenzaldehydes or 2-bromobenzyl bromide derivatives in the presence of 10 mol % CuCl2 without using any ligand. The reaction of 2-bromobenzaldehyde or its derivatives with 6-aminouracils in the presence of K2CO3 as base and a catalytic amount of CuCl2 in DMF medium under microwave heating conditions provides corresponding pyrimidine fused quinoline derivatives in good yields within 30 min. Alternatively, pyrimidine fused quinoline derivatives have been synthesized from the reaction of 2-bromobenzyl bromides with 6-aminouracil derivatives in the presence of molecular oxygen, CuCl2 (10 mol %), and K2CO3 as base in DMF under reflux conditions. Structures of all the products were unambiguously confirmed by spectroscopic techniques and by recording single crystal XRD of 3a.

Abstract
A facile gold-catalyzed oxidation terminal alkynes to synthesize substituted dihydronaphthalen-2(1H)-ones 3 and phenanthrenols 5 was realized. Various useful structures and drug precursors were generated in up to 99% yield under mild condition and low catalyst loading.

Abstract
A targeted library of substituted dibenzo[b,f]thiepines and dibenzo[b,f]oxepines (prototypes I, II and III), and structurally analogous to tamoxifen have been synthesized as a new class of anti-breast cancer agents. All the prototype molecules exhibited potential antiproliferative activity against ER + ve and ER-ve breast cancer cell lines. Dibenzo[b,f]thiepine prototypes were found to be more active. Of all the compound tested, 14b exhibited potent in-vitro antiproliferative activity at 1.33 μM and 5 μM concentration in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cell lines and was devoid of any cytotoxicity in normal HEK cells even at 50 μM. Cell cycle analysis showed that the compound 14b inhibited cell proliferation due to G0/G1 arrest in MCF-7 cells. Annexin-V FITC and PI staining experiments confirmed that the cell inhibition was primarily due to apoptosis and not by necrosis, which was also supported by LDH release assay experiment. Molecular docking studies showed better binding interaction of the new dibenzo[b,f]thiepine analogue 14b with the estrogen receptor (ER) as compared to 4-hydroxy-tamoxifen and this enhanced binding might be responsible for its estrogen antagonistic activity that induces cell cycle arrest, apoptosis and inhibition of breast cancer cells.

Abstract
An efficient, one-pot three component synthesis of highly functionalized tri- and tetrasubstituted thiophenes has been reported involving (het)aryl dithioesters as thiocarbonyl precursors. Thus, sequential base mediated condensation of readily available (het)aryl active methylene ketones with (het)aryl dithioesters followed by S-alkylation of the resulting enethiolate salts with activated halomethylene compounds and concurrent intramolecular aldol-type condensation of S-alkylated compounds affords substituted thiophenes in excellent yields. The methodology has also been extended for the synthesis of highly fluorescent push-pull substituted thiophene-5-acrylates by using bromocrotonate as the activated methylene alkylating agent.
