Abstract
An enantioselective synthesis of a new class of benzophosphole-based heterocycles bearing a fused triazole ring with enantioselectivities of ≤99% is reported. The key steps of the synthesis are based on an innovative stereospecific phosphinyl N → O migration of aminophosphine-boranes into phosphinites, followed by an intramolecular cyclization. Five X-ray structures of P-chirogenic triazolobenzophospholes and a gold(I) complex were established, for assigning absolute configurations, the stereochemistry of the reactions, and the placement of the triazole substituent at the syn position of the P center.

Abstract
ortho-Substituted and unsymmetrical 9-phospha-triptycenes were synthesized via two synthetic approaches involving densely functionalized ortho-halogenated triarylmethane or phosphine precursors. ortho-Substituents imposed a considerable steric shielding due to the tricyclic cage-shaped structure with the aryl rings p-systems orthogonal to the phosphorus electron pair. A series of Au(i) and Rh(i) complexes were analysed in the solid state to determine Tolman electronic parameters, cone angles and buried volumes of these unprecedented functionalized phosphines. Quantum chemical calculations of electronic and steric descriptors revealed that these cage-shaped phosphines are electron-poor and that single methyl substituent is enough to provide the largest effect on steric shielding reported so far in triarylphosphines. An unsymmetrically substituted 9-phosphatriptycene was resolved by chiral HPLC, opening the avenue towards stable P-chirogenic triarylphosphines with unlimited configurational stability for new catalyst development in asymmetric transition-metal catalysis.

Abstract
A novel method for the one-pot synthesis of diannulated 1,4,2-diazaphospholium triflate salts by a Me3SiOTf-mediated self-condensation of dichlorophosphaneyl aza-(poly)cyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (aza-(P)AHs; namely, pyridine, quinoline, phenanthridine, and benzo[d]thiazole) is reported. The diannulated 1,4,2-diazaphospholium triflate salts are characterized by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, X-ray analysis, as well as their calculated NICS values, underlining their aromatic character. Quantum mechanical calculations shed light on the intermolecular reaction mechanism. Follow up chemistry, such as the halogenation reaction with XeF2 or SO2Cl2 with the dipyridinium derivative selectively yields the respective dihalo-σ4,λ5- and tetrahalo-σ5,λ6-diazaphospholium triflate salts. The dihalo-σ4,λ5-diazaphospholium triflate salt serves well as a surrogate for the introduction of the cationic 2-(1,2'-bipyridin)-1-iumyl ligand (1,2'-bipyl), the monocationic structural isomer of the prototypical 2,2'-bipyridine ligand (2,2'-bipy).

Abstract
We report the design of a new iron catalyst for the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of ketones. This type of iron catalyst combines the structural characteristics of the Noyori hydrogenation catalyst (an axially chiral 2,2'-bis(phosphino)-1,1'-binaphthyl fragment and the metal-ligand bifunctional motif) and an ene(amido) group that can activate the iron center. After activation by 8 equivalents of potassium tert-butoxide, (SA,RP,SS)-7a and (SA,RP,SS)-7b are active but nonenantioselective catalysts for the transfer hydrogenation of acetophenone and α,β-unsaturated aldehydes at room temperature in isopropanol. A maximum turnover number of 14480 was observed for (SA,RP,SS)-7a in the reduction of acetophenone. The right combination of the stereochemistry of the axially chiral 2,2'-bis(phosphino)-1,1'-binaphthyl group and the carbon-centered chiral amine-imine moiety in (SA,RP,RR)-7b' afforded an enantioselective catalyst for the preparation of chiral alcohols with moderate to good yields and a broad functional group tolerance.
