Abstract
The evaluation of the significance of a chemical transformation addresses many factors, including such important characteristics as the number of chemical bonds formed in one step, the reaction time, labour intensity, the cost of reactants and catalysts and so on. The amount of waste produced in the reaction has also gained increasing importance in recent years. Multicomponent reactions (MCRs) occupy a special place as a synthetic tool in modern organic chemistry. These reactions allow the synthesis of target products with complex structures, minimizing labour costs. This review summarizes the literature on multicomponent reactions involving five or more components. The data in the review are classified according to the number of reactants participating in the reaction and the types of reactions. It is worth noting that in some cases, these transformations can be a part of a domino process, making this classification difficult, if not impossible. The structural diversity of the reaction products greatly increases with increasing number of components involved in the MCR, which becomes virtually unlimited when using combinations of MCRs. This review highlights the main trends of past decades in the field of MCRs. The last two decades have witnessed an explosive growth in the number of publications in this area of chemistry.
The bibliography includes 309 references.

Abstract
Isocyanides as key intermediates and magic reactants have been widely applied in organic reactions for direct access to a broad spectrum of remarkable organic compounds. Although the history of these magical compounds dates back more than 100 years, it still has been drawing widespread attention of chemists who confirmed their versatility and effectiveness. Because of their wide spectrum of pharmacological, industrial and synthetic applications, many reactions with the utilization of isocyanides are reported in the literature. In this context, Iranian scientist played a significant role in the growth of isocyanides chemistry. The present review article covers literature from the period starting from 2010 onward and encompasses new synthetic routes and organic transformation involving isocyanides by Iranian researchers. During this period, a diverse range of isocyanide-based multi-component reactions (I-MCRs) has been reported such as a new modification of Ugi, post-Ugi, Passerini and Groebke-Blackburn-Bienayme condensation reactions, isocyanide-based [1 + 4] cycloaddition reactions, isocyanide-acetylene-based MCRs, isocyanide and Meldrum's acid-based MCRs, several unexpected reactions besides green mediums and novel catalytic systems for the synthesis of diverse kinds of pharmaceutically and industrially remarkable heterocyclic and linear organic compounds. This review also emphasizes the neoteric applications of I-MCR for the synthesis of valuable peptide and pseudopeptide scaffolds, enzyme immobilization and functionalization of materials with tailorable properties that can play important roles in the plethora of applications.

S2P peptide-conjugated PLGA-Maleimide-PEG nanoparticles containing Imatinib for targeting drug delivery to atherosclerotic plaques. ACTA ACUST UNITED AC 2020; 28:131-138. Abstract
BACKGROUND Imatinib is a platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR) inhibitor with very low water solubility. Previous studies in atherosclerosis have shown that PDGFR activity has an egregious effect on vascular disease and progression of atherosclerosis. Specific ligands of atherosclerotic plaques can be used for targeting of nanoparticles. Studies in atherosclerosis proved that stabilin-2 is a glycoprotein which exists abundantly in atherosclerotic plaques and it is produced from both macrophages and endothelial cells. OBJECTIVES The objective of this study is the targeting drug delivery to atherosclerotic plaques by using imatinib-loaded nanoparticles modified by S2P peptide. METHODS The imatinib-loaded nanoparticles were fabricated through a modified emulsion/solvent evaporation technique. After fabricating PLGA nanoparticles, maleimide PEG was used as linker between PLGA nanoparticles and S2P peptide. Because of presence cysteine in both side of S2P peptide, maleimide formed a thiolether linkage by thiol group of cysteine. Then the physicochemical analysis like H-NMR, FT-IR, DSC, SEM, particle size, zeta potential, and drug release were studied. RESULTS Stabilin-2 peptide with sequence of CRTLTVRKC is a specific ligand to stabilin-2, so it was synthesized for using as the targeting agent for atherosclerosis. S2P peptide conjugation to the surface of nanoparticles was proved by H-NMR and FT-IR, and the percentage of S2P peptide in nanoparticles was 1.3%. The final nanoparticles were spherical and their size were 183 nm. The loading capacity of the imatinib-loaded nanoparticles was 5.05%. The sustained release profile was observed for peptide targeted nanoparticles. CONCLUSION The chosen method was simple, reproducible, and specific in peptide conjugation of nanoparticles for targeting delivery to atherosclerotic regions. Graphical abstract .

Abstract
Novel RGD based peptides (RGDFAKLF and RGDNGRG) were designed and synthesized and were later coupled to the pyrazine moiety at the N-terminus. The IC50 values from the in vitro study of the target peptides using a cell adhesion assay indicated the essential impact of the existence of the pyrazine moiety. Meanwhile, peptide 4 exhibited the best IC50 value.

Abstract
In this study, we developed an efficient approach for the synthesis of 2-amino-1,3,4-oxadiazoles that are bioisosteres of the amide functional group. The synthesized oxadiazoles were conjugated to octa- and nonapeptides through the C- or N-terminus as precursors of leuprolide acetate. The synthesized compounds are peptidomimetics of leuprolide acetate.

Abstract
An efficient approach for the synthesis of pyranoquinolines through the indium-catalyzed activation of alkynes is reported. Intramolecular hydroamidation of alkynes can proceed through alkyne activation by indium(III) and then 6-exo-dig cyclization, leading to a fused pyran ring with high selectivity, high atom economy, and good to excellent yields. The cyclization was accomplished through the oxygen, not the nitrogen, of the amide functional group.

Abstract
An efficient sequential four-component reaction of chromone carbaldehydes, Meldrum's acid, 4-hydroxyl coumarin or 6-methyl-4-hydroxyl-pyrone and primary alcohols is reported which leads to 5a-i in aqueous media. Replacing the primary alcohol with isopropyl alcohol and tert-butyl alcohol results in different products 10 and 11. The environmentally friendly features, good to high yields and easy work-up are advantages of this approach.

Abstract
The pseudo-four component click synthesis of dibenzylated 1,2,3-triazoles derived from aniline is reported. The cycloaddition of sodium azide to N-(prop-2-ynyl)-benzenamine (I) in the presence of equimolar amounts of p-substituted benzyl derivatives, yields a mixture of mono- and dibenzylated 1,2,3-triazoles. When two equivalents of the benzyl derivative are added to the multicomponent reaction, the selective preparation of the dibenzylated compounds is achieved. The reactivity of the aniline N-H bond in monobenzylated 1,2,3-triazoles was tested by treatment with one equivalent of a p-substituted benzyl chloride at 40 °C, rendering the dibenzylated derivatives quantitatively.
