Abstract
A mild copper-catalyzed asymmetric Kinugasa/Michael addition cascade process is developed. The reaction of α, β-unsaturated ester-tethered propiolamides with nitrones provides an efficient protocol for the construction of functionalized chiral 2,6-diazaspiro[3.4]octane-1,5-dione products in satisfactory yields and with high enantio- and diastereoselectivities.

Abstract
Iodination of terminal alkynes using N-iodosuccinimide (NIS) in the presence of γ-Al2O3 was developed to afford 1-iodoalkynes with good to excellent yields (up to 99%). This described approach featured excellent chemoselectivity, good functional group tolerance, and utilization of an inexpensive catalyst. An efficient Al2O3-mediated direct iodination of terminal alkynes was developed to afford 1-iodoalkynes.![]()

Abstract
We present the chemoselective synthesis of 1-(iodoethynyl)-4-methylbenzene, 1-(1,2-diiodovinyl)-4-methylbenzene, and 1-methyl-4-(1,2,2-triiodovinyl)benzene as representative examples for the practical chemoselective preparation of 1-iodoalkynes, 1,2-diiodoalkenes, and 1,1,2-triiodoalkenes from the chemoselective iodination of terminal alkynes mediated by hypervalent-iodine reagents. The chemoselectivity was confirmed by using p-tolylethyne as a model substrate to screen a variety of iodine sources and/or the hypervalent-iodine reagents. A combination of tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI) and (diacetoxyiodo)benzene (PIDA) selectively generates 1-iodoalkynes, while a combination of KI and PIDA generates 1,2-diiodoalkenes. A one-pot synthesis based on both TBAI-PIDA and KI-PIDA yields the corresponding 1,1,2-triiodoalkenes. These protocols were subsequently applied to the synthesis of synthetically important aromatic and aliphatic 1-iodoalkynes, 1,2-diiodoalkenes, and 1,1,2-triiodoalkenes, which were obtained in good yield with excellent chemoselectivity.

Abstract
One-pot three-component reactions using copper(i) acetylide, azide, allyl iodide, and NaOH have been developed. The reactions proceed smoothly at room temperature to afford 5-allyl-1,2,3-triazoles, which can be further transformed into a variety of 1,2,3-triazole-fused bi-/tricyclic scaffolds. This method offers the most efficient, convenient, and practical route towards useful polycyclic scaffolds in moderate to excellent yields.

Abstract
Reported herein are practical approaches for the chemoselective mono-, di-, and tri-iodination of alkynes based on efficient oxidative iodinations catalyzed by hypervalent iodine reagents. The reaction conditions were systematically optimized by altering the iodine source and/or the hypervalent iodine reagent system. The tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI)/(diacetoxyiodo)benzene (PIDA) system is specific for monoiodination, while the KI/PIDA system results in di-iodination. Combining the TBAI/PIDA and KI/PIDA systems in one pot provided the corresponding tri-iodination products efficiently. These reaction conditions can be applied to the synthetically important iodination of aromatic and aliphatic alkynes, which was accomplished in good yield (up to 99%) and excellent chemoselectivity. These synthetic methods can also be applied to the efficient chemoselective synthesis of iodoalkyne derivatives, intermediates, and related biologically active compounds.

Abstract
5-Iodo-1,2,3-triazole (iodotriazole) can be prepared from a copper(I)-catalyzed reaction between azide and terminal alkyne in the presence of an iodinating agent, with 5-protio-1,2,3-triazole (protiotriazole) as the side product. The increasing utilities of iodotriazoles in synthetic and supramolecular chemistry drive the efforts in improving their selective syntheses based on a sound mechanistic understanding. A routinely proposed mechanism takes the cue from the copper(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition, which includes copper(I) acetylide and triazolide as the early and the late intermediates, respectively. Instead of being protonated to afford protiotriazole, an iodinating agent presumably intercepts the copper(I) triazolide to give iodotriazole. The current work shows that copper(I) triazolide can be iodinated to afford iodotriazoles. However, when the reaction starts from a terminal alkyne as under the practical circumstances, 1-iodoalkyne (iodoalkyne) is an intermediate while copper(I) triazolide is bypassed on the reaction coordinate. The production of protiotriazole commences after almost all of the iodoalkyne is consumed. Using (1)H NMR to follow a homogeneous iodotriazole forming reaction, the rapid formation of an iodoalkyne is shown to dictate the selectivity of an iodotriazole over a protiotriazole. To ensure the exclusive production of iodotriazole, the complete conversion of an alkyne to an iodoalkyne has to, and can be, achieved at the early stage of the reaction.

Abstract
A transition metal free oxidative C-H bond functionalization/esterification of α-alkoxy alkanes with acids is described in this report. This method is effectively mediated by NCS instead of traditional oxidants, like TBHP or its derivatives, and directly generates the esterification products in moderate to high yield under mild conditions. This tranformation constitutes a practical and general approach toward various α-acyloxy ethers with broad substrate generality; alkyl-, aryl-, alkenyl- and alkynyl-carboxylic acids are all well tolerated.

Abstract
A tandem synthesis for structurally novel 3-chloro-4-iodoisoxazoles was developed by simply mixing 1-copper(I) alkynes, dichloroformaldoxime, and molecular iodine together. The combination of 1-copper(I) alkyne and molecular iodine was well used as a synthetic equivalent of 1-iodoalkyne without the need for tedious preparation, purification, and storage of 1-iodoalkyne.

Abstract
(Cyclopentadienyl)(cyclooctadiene) ruthenium(II) chloride [CpRuCl(cod)] catalyzes the reaction between nitrile oxides and electronically deficient 1-choro-, 1-bromo-, and 1-iodoalkynes leading to 4-haloisoxazoles. Organic azides are also suitable 1,3-dipoles, resulting in 5-halo-1,2,3-triazoles. These air-tolerant reactions can be performed at room temperature with 1.25 equivalents of the respective 1,3-dipole relative to the alkyne component. Reactive 1-haloalkynes include propiolic amides, esters, ketones, and phosphonates. Post-functionalization of the halogenated azole products can be accomplished by using palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions and by manipulation of reactive amide groups. The lack of catalysis observed with [Cp*RuCl(cod)] (Cp* = pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) is attributed to steric demands of the Cp* (η(5)-C5Me5) ligand in comparison to the parent Cp (η(5)-C5H5). This hypothesis is supported by the poor reactivity of [(η(5)-C5Me4CF3)RuCl(cod)], which serves as a an isosteric mimic of Cp* and as an isoelectronic analogue of Cp.
