Abstract
We report microwave-assisted selenation and exo-trig cyclization of secondary allylic carboxamides using Woollins' reagent, a serendipitous finding observed during an attempt to synthesize N-allylbenzoselenoamide compounds. This resulted in the first reported synthesis of 2-aryl-5-methyl selenazolines. Twenty-one diversified selenazolines and three late-stage-functionalized drug molecules were synthesized in 42-93% and 25-52% yield, respectively, and these were evaluated further for their anti-proliferative activity.

Abstract
The construction of 2-amino-1,3-selenazole skeleton was realized via the PhICl2/KSeCN-enabled electrophilic selenocyanation of β-enaminones and β-enamino esters followed by intramolecular cyclization under basic conditions. Compared to the classical Hantzsch strategy that utilizes selenourea or its analogues as starting materials or crucial intermediates, this method might represent an alternative approach for the assembly of 1,3-selenazole framework through a different pathway.

Abstract
As a part of our ongoing endeavor towards developing novel heterocyclic architectures, a number of novel Se-containing tricyclic heterocycles of the type [1,3]selenazolo[5,4-e][1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-c]pyrimidine have been synthesized through heteroannulation of a newly produced hydrazino derivative of selenazolo[4,5-d]pyrimidine with either orthoesters or carbon disulfide in pyridine followed by S-alkylation. Moreover, the multistep protocol employed in this investigation provides a new insight into the Dimroth rearrangement in both acidic and basic media as a means for the cyclocondensation of triazole on the selenazolopyrimidine framework leading to selenazolotriazolopyrimidines. The synthesis of new derivatives of novel selenazolotriazolopyrimidines via Dimroth rearrangement in both acidic and basic media is presented.

Abstract
New practical synthesis of 2-amino-1,3-selenazole with transition metal-free multicomponent reaction is reported here. A series of 2-amino-1,3-selenazole derivatives were afforded by the nucleophilic addition of amines to isoselenocyanate formed in situ, followed by Michael addition reaction and aromatization. The products were isolated from moderate to excellent yields.

Abstract
A series of new 2,4-diaryl-1,3-chalcogen azoles having pentafluorosulfanyl SF5 functional groups has been prepared by means of the two-component cyclization of the selenoamide or thioamide with α-bromoketones. The selenoamides or thioamides were obtained from the reaction of Woollins' reagent or Lawesson's reagent with 4-pentafluorosulfanylbenzonitrile, followed by hydrolysis with water. All new compounds were characterized by (1)H, (13)C, (77)Se, (19)F NMR spectroscopy, and accurate mass measurement. X-ray crystal structure analysis of the selenoamide, thioamide, and 2,4-diarylpentafluorosulfanyl-1,3-chalcogen azoles reveal that the selenoamide and thioamide have very similar structural features along with similar intermolecular interactions such as the π-π stacking and the weak N-H···E (E = S or Se) hydrogen bonding. The 2,4-diarylpentafluorosulfanyl-1,3-chalcogen azoles show the newly formed five-membered N(1)-C(2)-E(3)-C(4)-C(5) ring is either perfectly planar (and coplanar with two peripheral aryl ring planes) or near-planar. The π-π intermolecular interactions and the weak C-H···π and C-H···X (X = Br, F, O) hydrogen bonding are discussed in the cases of 2,4-diarylpentafluorosulfanyl-1,3-chalcogen azoles.
