Abstract
A chiral Brønsted acid catalysed phosphine-mediated deoxygenation protocol is reported. This metal-free method provides a precise kinetic resolution platform for azaarylethynyl tertiary alcohols, which are a broad category of biologically and synthetically important azaarene derivatives. In addition to providing an efficient method for the first asymmetric preparation of these tertiary alcohols, the strategy facilitates the construction of azaaryl-functionalized allenes with good to excellent enantioselectivities. The high selectivity factors (s up to 235), broad substrate scope, and ability to convert azaaryl compounds into both chiral tertiary alcohols and allenes robustly underscore the efficiency and promising utility of this method. The practicability is further validated by the successful synthesis of deuterated allenes with high ee values and substantial incorporation of deuterium using inexpensive D2 O as the deuterium source.

Abstract
A highly enantioselective and straightforward synthetic procedure to chiral 3-hydroxy-2,3-dihydrobenzofurans has been developed by nickel/bisoxazoline-catalyzed intramolecular asymmetric addition of aryl halides to unactivated ketones, giving 2,3-dihydrobenzofurans with a chiral tertiary alcohol at the C-3 position in good yields and excellent enantioselectivities (up to 92% yield and 98% ee). The gram-scale reaction also proceeded smoothly without a loss of yield and enantioselectivity.

Abstract
A diastereoselective Co2(CO)8-mediated Pauson-Khand reaction (PKR) of siloxy-tethered 1,7-enynes for the synthesis of cyclopentaoxasilinones has been developed. This transformation can be performed on a multigram scale and is characterized by a broad substrate scope, functional group compatibility, and high chemo- and diastereoselectivity. Oxidation of the resulting cyclopentaoxasilinones delivers stereoenriched β-alkylated cyclopentenones, which are inaccessible by intermolecular PKRs. This research provides a practical solution to the challenges associated with the classical intermolecular PKR.

Abstract
A novel and efficient method for the synthesis of difluoromethylated enynes by the reaction of α-(trifluoromethyl)styrenes with terminal alkynes with the assistance of NaOtBu was described. The mechanism of the reaction might involve the SN2' reaction of α-(trifluoromethyl)styrenes and a subsequent 1,3-H shift. Isomerization (E → Z) of 1-difluoromethyl-1,3-enynes in the presence of ZrCl4 was also developed.

Abstract
Organofluorine compounds are found in several important classes of chemicals, such as pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and functional materials. Chemists have been immensely interested in the development of methodologies for expeditious access to fluorine containing building blocks. In this study, we report a new method for the catalytic asymmetric synthesis of CF3-substituted tertiary propargylic alcohols with two contiguous stereogenic centers via the direct aldol reaction of an α-N3 amide to trifluoromethyl ketones. The key to the success of this method is the identification of a catalyst comprising Cu(ii)/chiral hydroxamic acid to promote the desired aldol reaction, constructing a tetrasubstituted carbon in a highly stereoselective fashion. Despite substantial prior advances in asymmetric catalysis, this class of catalysts has not been utilized for the formation of carbon-carbon bond-forming reactions. Our mechanistic study sheds light on the unique profile of this catalytic system, where the Cu(ii) complex plays a bifunctional role of serving as a Lewis acid and a Brønsted base. Furthermore, the densely functionalized aldol adducts undergo chemoselective transformations, affording a series of fluorine containing chiral building blocks with widespread application.

Abstract
An efficient and easily scalable NHC-copper(I) halide-catalyzed addition of terminal alkynes to 1,1,1-trifluoromethyl ketones, carried out on water for the first time, is reported. A series of addition reactions were performed with as little as 0.1-2.0 mol % of [(NHC)CuX] (X=Cl, Br, I, OAc, OTf) complexes, providing tertiary propargylic trifluoromethyl alcohols in high yields and with excellent chemoselectivity from a broad range of aryl- and more challenging alkyl-substituted trifluoromethyl ketones (TFMKs). DFT calculations were performed to rationalize the correlation between the yield of catalytic alkynylation and the sterics of N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), expressed as buried volume (%VBur), indicating that steric effects dominate the yield of the reaction. Additional DFT calculations shed some light on the differential reactivity of [(NHC)CuX] complexes in the alkynylation of TFMKs. The first enantioselective version of a direct alkynylation in the presence of C1 -symmetric NHC-copper(I) complexes is also presented.
