Abstract
The first general preparation of 4-bromo-2,3-dihydrofurans is reported. These non-aromatic heterocycles containing a useful coupling handle are accessed via Cu-catalyzed intramolecular cyclization of 1,2-dibromohomoallylic alcohols, which are themselves available in just two steps from aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes and ketones. Molecular dynamics simulations using the simple substrates and key geometric parameters provide a rationale for the selectivities observed. The synthetic utility of the 4-bromodihydrofurans is also demonstrated.

Abstract
A variant of the A3 coupling reaction was developed utilizing in situ generated N-carbamoyliminium ions. The tandem INCIC/A3 -coupling sequence provided a facile one-pot synthesis of dihydroquinazolinone derivatives. The scope of the reaction was demonstrated in solution as well as on solid support. The reaction was further combined with peptide synthesis, SN Ar reactions, CuAAC triazole formation or bromination, providing additional opportunities for further diversification of the dihydroquinazolinone scaffolds.

Abstract
A dual catalytic chemo-selective cross-coupling reaction of two enals is developed. One enal (without α-substitution) is activated by an NHC catalyst to form an acylazolium enolate intermediate that undergoes Michael-type addition to another enal molecule bearing an alkynyl substituent. Mechanistic studies indicate that non-covalent interactions between the alkynyl enal and the NHC·HX catalyst play important roles in substrate activation and enantioselectivity control. Many of the possible side reactions are not observed. Our reaction provides highly chemo- and diastereo-selective access to chiral lactones containing functionalizable 1,3-enyn units with excellent enantioselectivities (95 to >99% ee). An NHC-catalyzed dual activation of two different enals is disclosed with both covalent and non-covalent activation pathways involved.![]()

Abstract
The co-halogenation reaction of alkynes with tri-bromoisocyanuric acid in acetic acid, followed by aqueous work-up produced α,α-di-bromoketones (44-84%), while the reaction in aqueous acetonitrile in the presence of KBr produced vicinal di-bromoalkenes (66-86%). The usefulness of the methodology was demonstrated employing green metrics for the comparison of TBCA with analogous N-halo reagents in co-halogenation reactions of alkynes.

Abstract
Although recent years have witnessed significant advances in the development of catalytic, enantioselective halofunctionalizations of alkenes, the related dihalogenation of olefins to afford enantioenriched vicinal dihalide products remains comparatively underdeveloped. However, the growing number of complex natural products bearing halogen atoms at stereogenic centers has underscored this critical gap in the synthetic chemist's arsenal. This Review highlights the selectivity challenges inherent in the design of enantioselective dihalogenation processes, and formulates a mechanism-based classification of alkene dihalogenations, including those that may circumvent the "classical" haliranium (or alkene-dihalogen π-complex) intermediates. A variety of metal and main group halide reagents that have been used for the dichlorination or dibromination of alkenes are discussed, and the proposed mechanisms of these transformations are critically evaluated.
