Abstract
Copper(I)-promoted "click" cyclization in the presence of TBTA afforded nucleoside macrocycles in very high yields (≈70%) without using protecting groups. To this end, dU and dC derivatives functionalized at the 5-position of the nucleobase with octadiynyl side chains and with azido groups at the 5'-position of the sugar moieties were synthesized. The macrocycles display freely accessible Watson-Crick recognition sites. The conformation of the 16-membered macrocycle was deduced from X-ray analysis and 1H,1H-NMR coupling constants. The sugar conformation (N vs S) was different in solution as compared to the solid state.

Abstract
An expedient strategy for the preparation of diiodinated diepoxydibenzo[c,k][1,9]dioxacyclohexadecines from readily available 2-(4-hydroxybut-1-yn-1-yl)benzaldehydes through electrophile-triggered tandem cyclization/intermolecular acetalation sequence has been presented. The electrophilic macrocyclization can be performed under mild conditions and in up to gram quantities. Moreover, palladium-catalyzed coupling and reduction reactions of the resulting iodides could efficiently afford oxa-macrocycles.

Abstract
The design, synthesis and structural characterization of a new α-d-glucose fused [15]-macrodilactone is reported. The macrolide was synthesized by a route involving sequential acylations of glucose at the C4' and C6' hydroxyl groups followed by an intramolecular Stille reaction previously established for other [15]-macrodilactones. Analysis of the X-ray crystallographic structure of the macrolide revealed a unique conformation of this macrocycle that differs from earlier models for [13]- and [15]-macrodilactones. Organizing the three planar units and the pyranose moiety into a macrocyclic ring resulted in a cup-shaped structure with planar chirality. Further, the gt conformation of the exocyclic hydroxymethyl group in the glucose unit was found to be crucial for controlling the planar chirality and, hence, governing the molecular shape and overall topology of the compound.

Sugar-based novel chiral macrocycles for inclusion applications and chiral recognition. Carbohydr Res 2015; 421:25-32. Abstract
A convergent template assisted synthesis of sugar-based chiral macrocycles has been achieved. The host-guest inclusion studies have revealed significant interactions of the synthesized macrocycle with primary over secondary ammonium salt. The chiral macrocyle also discriminates between D- and L-phenylalanine methyl ester hydrochlorides as revealed by (1)H NMR spectral studies on the mixture of the host and the guest molecules.
