Abstract
A mercury(II) ion-selective electrode with an ionic liquid (IL), 1-methyl-2-butylthioimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulphonyl)imide ([C1C4Sim]NTf2) as active material was constructed. Parameters affecting the performance of the electrodes such as the dosages of the IL and carbon nanotubes and the aqueous pH values were investigated. Experimental results indicated that the optimal composition of the electrode filling material was 47.6% [C1C4Sim]NTf2, 47.6% tetrabutylphosphonium bis(trifluoromethanesulphonyl) imide (TBPNTf2) and 4.8% carboxylic multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-COOH). Under the selected conditions, the proposed electrodes showed a good linear response in the concentration range of 10−10–10−5 mol L−1 and had a detection limit of 4.1 × 10−11 mol L−1. No great interference from common metal ions was found. The proposed electrodes were applied to determine Hg2+ in seafood samples; the results were comparable to those of the direct mercury analyzer.

Abstract
The structure of 1-methyl-2-(prop-2-en-1-ylsulfan-yl)-1H-imidazol-3-ium bromide, C7H11N2S(+)·Br(-), has monoclinic (P21/c) symmetry. In the crystal, the components are linked by N-H⋯Br and C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure of the title compound undeniably proves that methimazole reacts through the thione tautomer, rather than the thiol tautomer in this system.

Abstract
Two methimazolium and two imidazolium-based salts derived from combination with the tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) radical anion have been synthesized (1–4). The 1:1 (cation:anion) stoichiometry of the chemically synthesized materials is fully supported by steady-state voltammetric measurements at a microdisc electrode in acetonitrile. The methimazolium TCNQ salts (1 and 2), which contain an acidic proton on the cation, exhibit a protonation step coupled to the TCNQ1–/2– charge-transfer process. Solid–solid transformations at a TCNQ-modified electrode also lead to electrochemical synthesis of 1–4, but also indicate that other cation:anion stoichiometries are accessible. Atomic force microscopy for electrochemically synthesized samples exhibit rod-like morphology. Conductivity measurements on chemically and electrochemically prepared salts are in the semiconducting range. Scanning electrochemical microscopy approach curve data support the substantial conductivity of these solids. Extensive physicochemical characterization of these materials is in complete accordance with the X-ray crystal structure of 1-acetonitrile-3-methylimidazolium tetracyanoquinodimethane, [AMim+][TCNQ1–], 4.
