Abstract
We have developed an efficient method for the synthesis of (E)-trisubstituted vinyl bromides via a Friedel-Crafts-type addition of alkynes to oxocarbenium ions formed in situ from acetals. The success of this reaction relies on identification of MgBr2·OEt2 as both a Lewis acid promoter and bromide source. This reaction employs simple, inexpensive starting materials and proceeds under mild conditions to allow the preparation of a range of vinyl bromide products in high yields and E:Z selectivities. Furthermore, the vinyl bromide products also contain an allylic ether functional group. Both the vinyl bromide and allylic ether are effective handles for the elaboration of these useful synthetic intermediates.

Abstract
The tandem allylation of aldehydes or an aldimine with allylzinc intermediates derived from organozinc reagents and cyclopropenes is described. The present three-component reaction involves carbozincation of cyclopropene and sequential cleavage of a cyclopropylzinc intermediate in situ without a transition-metal catalyst. The allylzinc intermediates generated in situ, which is an α,β-unsaturated acylanion equivalent, gave the corresponding homoallylic alcohols or amine in good yields.

Abstract
This critical review discusses recent developments in the field of cyclopropene chemistry. Although several excellent reviews that mainly focused on the thermolysis and pyrolysis as well as metal-mediated reactions of cyclopropenes have been published, significant new developments have also been achieved in recent years. This brand new review provides an overview of the progress from 2007 to 2011 on the syntheses and transformations of cyclopropenes as well as their related mechanistic studies (238 references).

Abstract
TiCl(4) and TiBr(4) rapidly transform cyclopropenylmethyl acetates to (E)-halodienes via ring-opening to allyl-vinyl cations. DFT calculations suggest that the regioselectivity of the halogenation of this cationic intermediate by [TiX(4)OAc](-) is under thermodynamic control, while the stereoselectivity is governed by kinetics.

Abstract
Gold(i)-catalysed addition of alcohols to 3,3-disubstituted cyclopropenes occurs in a highly regioselective and facile manner to produce alkyl tert-allylic ethers in good yields. The reaction is tolerant of sterically hindered substituents on the cyclopropene as well as primary and secondary alcohols as nucleophiles. In this full article, we report on the substrate scope and plausible mechanism, as well as the regioselectivity issues arising from subsequent gold(i)-catalysed isomerisation of tertiary to primary allylic ethers.
