Abstract
A Pd(OAc)2/P(OPh)3 combination catalyzed Tsuji-Trost-type allylic amination under aerobic conditions. Both aromatic and aliphatic secondary amines were transformed into the corresponding allylic amines with a tiny amount of the catalyst system (typically 0.02 mol % Pd), only when allylic phosphates were employed as electrophiles. Other typical electrophiles, such as allylic acetate and carbonate, were marginally reactive. A Pd(0) complex, Pd[P(OPh)3]3, formed in situ was suggested as an active species by mechanistic experiments.

Abstract
4-[(E)-3-Arylprop-2-enyl]phenols are omnipresent scaffolds and constitute natural products and biologically significant compounds. Obtusastyrene and obtustyrene are two such phenolic-based natural products isolated from Dalbergia retusa. The development of strategies based on a site-selective allylation, particularly protecting group-free substrates and non-activated coupling agents, is indispensable in organic synthesis. Herein, we present a highly regioselective [Pd]-catalyzed para-allylation of phenols using simple, inactivated allylic alcohols as allylating coupling partners. Notably, this strategy is successful in open-air and under mild reaction conditions. Besides, the efficacy of the present protocol was demonstrated by the direct synthesis of obtusastyrene and obtustyrene.

Abstract
Among many other strategies, the enaminone approach is an important strategy to construct and diversify the azacyclic core in various alkaloids syntheses. In this brief review we discuss the application of cyclic enaminones as building blocks, as well as potential intermediates in the total synthesis of selected alkaloids.

Abstract
The metal accumulating ability of plants has previously been used to capture metal contaminants from the environment; however, the full potential of this process is yet to be realized. Herein, the first use of living plants to recover palladium and produce catalytically active palladium nanoparticles is reported. This process eliminates the necessity for nanoparticle extraction from the plant and reduces the number of production steps compared to traditional catalyst palladium on carbon. These heterogeneous plant catalysts have demonstrated high catalytic activity in Suzuki coupling reactions between phenylboronic acid and a range of aryl halides containing iodo-, bromo- and chloro- moieties.

Abstract
Cardiotoxicity is a side effect that plagues modern drug design and is very often due to the off-target blockade of the human ether-à-go-go related gene (hERG) potassium channel. To better understand the structural determinants of this blockade, we designed and synthesized a series of 40 derivatives of clofilium, a class III antiarrhythmic agent. These were evaluated in radioligand binding and patch-clamp assays to establish structure-affinity relationships (SAR) for this potassium channel. Efforts were especially focused on studying the influence of the structural rigidity and the nature of the linkers composing the clofilium scaffold. It was shown that introducing triple bonds and oxygen atoms in the n-butyl linker of the molecule greatly reduced affinity without significantly modifying the pKa of the essential basic nitrogen. These findings could prove useful in the first stages of drug discovery as a systematic way of reducing the risk of hERG K(+) channel blockade-induced cardiotoxicity.

Abstract
The palladium-catalyzed three-component reactions of benzyl halides, activated olefins, and allyltributylstannane were successfully conducted to produce the corresponding benzylallylation products in satisfactory to high yields. The benzylallylation reaction proceeded smoothly under mild conditions in the presence of palladium nanoparticles in tetrahydrofuran.
