Abstract
The power and ability of catalysis to build multiple C-C bonds in a single step has had a transformative impact on organic synthesis. While the reactivity of organohalides with metal catalysts is widely appreciated, the related and more intricate reactivity of acid chlorides is less so, despite their use as common reagents in synthesis. Here, we review the transformations of acid chlorides in combination with unsaturated C-C bonds catalyzed by palladium, rhodium, or iridium and provide an outlook for future research opportunities.

Abstract
Non-radiative recombination, caused by trap states, significantly hampers the efficiency and stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The emerging porous organic polymers (POPs) show promise as a platform for designing novel defect passivation agents due to their rigid and porous structure. However, the POPs reported so far lack either sufficient stability or clear sites of interactions with the defects. Herein, two chlorine-functionalized, fully conjugated porous aromatic frameworks (PAFs) were constructed via a decarbonylation reaction. The chlorinated PAFs feature unique long-range conjugated networks bearing multiple chlorine atoms, significantly improving the photovoltaic performance and stability of doped solar cells. Combined experimental and theoretical analyses confirmed the strong passivation effects of conjugated structure to the defect through Cl sites. Specifically, PAF-159, bearing a triphenylamine moiety, demonstrated stronger Cl-Pb bonding and higher passivation efficiency due to the presence of π* anti-bonding orbitals, which elevate the HOMO energy level and facilitate Cl-Pb charge transfer. Consequently, we obtained high-performance PAF-159-doped devices with advanced PCE (24.3 %), good storage stability (retaining 86 % after 3000 hours), and good long-term operational stability (retaining 92 % after 350 hours).

Abstract
An iron-promoted oxidative tandem alkylation/cyclization of ynones with 4-alkyl-substituted 1,4-dihydropyridines for the efficient synthesis of 2-alkylated indenones is described. The process occurs via oxidative homolysis of a C-C σ-bond in 1,4-dihydropyridines to generate an alkyl radical followed by the addition of C-C triple bonds in ynones and intramolecular cyclization. A wide range of alkyl radicals could be efficiently transferred to generate a series of synthetically useful 2-alkylated indenones with excellent selectivity under mild conditions.

Abstract
Here we report a palladium‐catalysed difunctionalisation of unsaturated C−C bonds with acid chlorides. Formally, the C−COCl bond of an acid chloride is cleaved and added, with complete atom economy, across either strained alkenes or a tethered alkyne to generate new acid chlorides. The transformation does not require exogenous carbon monoxide, operates under mild conditions, shows a good functional group tolerance, and gives the isolated products with excellent stereoselectivity. The intermolecular reaction tolerates both aryl‐ and alkenyl‐substituted acid chlorides and is successful when carboxylic acids are transformed to the acid chloride in situ. The reaction also shows an example of temperature‐dependent stereodivergence which, together with plausible mechanistic pathways, is investigated by DFT calculations. Moreover, we show that benzofurans can be formed in an intramolecular variant of the reaction. Finally, derivatisation of the products from the intermolecular reaction provides a highly stereoselective approach for the synthesis of tetrasubstituted cyclopentanes.

Abstract
Herein, we report an efficient method for the synthesis of (Z)-β-halovinyl ketones through a one-pot Sonogashira coupling and hydrohalogenation reaction promoted by palladium-copper catalyst and Brønsted acid. The ynone intermediates are generated in situ from readily available acid chlorides and terminal alkynes at room temperature, which are directly converted to (Z)-β-halovinyl ketones by treating with triflic acid. This method avoids the use of an external halogen source and features broad substrate scope, high yield, and good to excellent stereoselectivity.

Abstract
An unprecedented nickel-catalyzed domino reductive cyclization of alkynes and o-bromoaryl aldehydes is described. The reaction features broad substrate scope and is tolerant of a variety of functional groups, providing straightforward access to biologically significant indanones and spiroindanone pyrrolidine derivatives in good yields with excellent regio- and diastereoselectivity. Preliminary mechanistic studies have shown that indanones are formed by the cyclization of o-bromoaryl aldehydes and alkynes to form indenol intermediates, followed by hydrogen autotransfer.

Abstract
Hydroformylation, a reaction that installs both a C-H bond and an aldehyde group across an unsaturated substrate, is one of the most important catalytic reactions in both industry and academia. Given the synthetic importance of creating new C-C bonds, the development of carboformylation reactions, wherein a new C-C bond is formed instead of a C-H bond, would bear enormous synthetic potential to rapidly increase molecular complexity in the synthesis of valuable aldehydes. However, the demanding complexity inherent in a four-component reaction, utilizing an exogenous CO source, has made the development of a direct carboformylation reaction a formidable challenge. Here, we describe a palladium-catalysed strategy that uses readily available aroyl chlorides as a carbon electrophile and CO source, in tandem with a sterically congested hydrosilane, to perform a stereoselective carboformylation of alkynes. An extension of this protocol to four chemodivergent carbonylations further highlights the creative opportunity offered by this strategy in carbonylation chemistry.

Abstract
An efficient synthesis of indolizine derivatives from propargylic pyridines and aroyl chlorides was developed. The 5-endo-dig cyclization was initiated by the in situ formed acylpalladium species from the facile oxidative addition of aroyl chloride to Pd(0) complex. This transformation successfully occurred in the presence of an N-nucleophilic moiety and acid chlorides, a good electrophilic partner, affording highly functionalized indolizines in good-to-excellent yields.

Abstract
Described herein are two different methods for the synthesis of vinyl halides by a shuttle catalysis based iridium-catalyzed transfer hydrohalogenation of unactivated alkynes. The use of 4-chlorobutan-2-one or tert-butyl halide as donors of hydrogen halides allows this transformation in the absence of corrosive reagents, such as hydrogen halides or acid chlorides, thus largely improving the functional-group tolerance and safety profile of these reactions compared to the state-of-the-art. This method has granted access to alkenyl halide compounds containing acid-sensitive groups, such as tertiary alcohols, silyl ethers, and acetals. The synthetic value of those methodologies has been demonstrated by gram-scale synthesis where low catalyst loading was achieved.

Abstract
The palladium(ii)-catalyzed carbocyclization of benzenecarbaldehydes with internal alkynes to afford 2,3-disubstituted indenones was reported. The annulation reaction proceeded through the transmetalation of Pd(ii) with an aromatic aldehyde and the insertion of internal alkynes, followed by cyclization via the intramolecular nucleophilic addition of intermediate organopalladium(ii) species to the aldehyde group. This reaction proceeded in moderate to good yields with high regioselectivity.

Abstract
We have developed a highly regioselective homogeneous gold(I)-catalyzed anti-hydrochlorination of unactivated alkynes at room temperature. We have overcome the incompatibility between conventional cationic gold catalysts and chloride by using a hydrogen-bonding activation of the Au-Cl bond. This approach is scalable, exhibits excellent functional group tolerance, and can be conducted in open air.
