Co-Catalyzed Asymmetric Hydrogenation. The Same Enantioselection Pattern for Different Mechanisms. Int J Mol Sci 2023; 24:ijms24065568. Abstract
The mechanism of the recently reported catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of enyne 1 catalyzed by the Co-(R,R)-QuinoxP* complex was studied by DFT. Conceivable pathways for the Co(I)-Co(III) mechanism were computed together with a Co(0)-Co(II) catalytic cycle. It is commonly assumed that the exact nature of the chemical transformations taking place along the actually operating catalytic pathway determine the sense and level of enantioselection of the catalytic reaction. In this work, two chemically different mechanisms reproduced the experimentally observed perfect stereoselection of the same handedness. Moreover, the relative stabilities of the transition states of the stereo induction stages were controlled via exactly the same weak disperse interactions between the catalyst and the substrate.

Abstract
Herein, we report a base promoted dibromination of enamides using CBr4 as a bromine source to provide expedient access to β,β-dibrominated secondary enamides. Preliminary synthetic application study shows that these novel products can be readily transformed to 5-Br oxazoles via Cu(I) catalyzed intramolecular cyclization in good yields.

Abstract
We report in this article a cascade reaction strategy for the synthesis of complex N-heterocyclic compounds with contiguous and tetrasubstituted stereogenic carbons. Under the sequential catalysis of a chiral binol-Ti complex and BF3 , cyclopentanone-derived tertiary enamides undergo an enantioselective enamine addition to ketone carbonyls followed by diastereoselective trapping of the resulting acyliminiums by electron-rich aryl moieties to furnish four- and five-membered ring-fused N-heterocyclic products as the sole diastereomers in high yields with up to 99 % ee.

Abstract
A bulky three-hindered quadrant bisphosphine ligand, di-1-adamantylphosphino(tert-butylmethylphosphino)methane, named BulkyP*, has been synthesized via a convergent short pathway with chromatography-free procedures. The ligand is a crystalline solid and can be readily handled in air. Its rhodium(I) complex exhibits very high enantioselectivities and catalytic activities in the asymmetric hydrogenation of functionalized alkenes.

Abstract
Abstract
Over several years, our research team has contributed to ligand design for metal-catalyzed stereoselective transformations. This has been achieved with the synthesis and application to organic transformations of interest of an array of structurally diverse P-containing ligands. These range from highly modular enantiopure phosphine–phosphite ligands to supramolecularly regulated enantioselective phosphorus-based catalysts. Our research in supramolecular interactions has also led to the discovery of an unprecedented halogen-bonded rhodium-catalyst.

Abstract
Density functional theory calculations were performed to elucidate the mechanism of the ruthenium-catalyzed hydroamidation of terminal alkynes, a powerful and sustainable method for the stereoselective synthesis of enamides. The results provide an explanation for the puzzling experimental finding that with tri-n-butylphosphine (P(Bu)3) as the ligand, the E-configured enamides are obtained, whereas the stereoselectivity is inverted in favor of the Z-configured enamides with (dicyclohexylphosphino)methane (dcypm) ligands. Using the addition of pyrrolidinone to 1-hexyne as a model reaction, various pathways were investigated, among which a catalytic cycle turned out to be most advantageous for both ligand systems that consists of: (a) oxidative addition, (b) alkyne coordination, (c) alkyne insertion (d) vinyl-vinylidene rearrangement, (e) nucleophilic transfer and finally (f) reductive elimination. The stereoselectivity of the reaction is decided in the nucleophilic transfer step. For the P( n Bu)3 ligand, the butyl moiety is oriented anti to the incoming 2-pyrolidinyl unit during the nucleophilic transfer step, whereas for the dcypm ligand, steric repulsion between the butyl and cyclohexyl groups turns it into a syn orientation. Overall, the formation of E-configured product is favorable by 4.8 kcal mol-1 (Δ‡GSDL) for the catalytic cycle computed with P(Bu)3 as ancillary ligand, whereas for the catalytic cycle computed with dcypm ligands, the Z-product is favored by 7.0 kcal mol-1 (Δ‡GSDL). These calculations are in excellent agreement with experimental findings.

Abstract
Sulfone derivatives are important synthetic intermediates. However, the general method for their preparation is through traditional coupling reaction: the alkylation of sodium sulfinates with phenacyl halides. Based on our previous work on sodium sulfinates and oxime acetates, we herein report a novel method for sulfone derivatives by oxidative coupling with sodium sulfinates and oxime acetates using copper as catalyst. The sulfonylvinylamine products could be formed in excellent yields. Upon hydrolysis by silica gel in CH2 Cl2 , β-ketosulfones could also be efficiently constructed. Various sulfonylvinylamines and β-ketosulfones were obtained in good to excellent yields under the optimized reaction conditions. Mechanistic studies indicated that this transformation involved copper-catalyzed N-O bond cleavage, activation of a vinyl sp(2) C-H bond, and C-S bond formation. The oxime acetates act as both a substrate and an oxidant, thus the reaction needs no additional oxidants or additives.

Abstract
An efficient and expeditious DABCO-mediated synthesis of functionalized enamides from alkenes is delineated. The reaction proceeds through an unprecedented cascade involving an Aza-Michael addition/α-bromination/elimination and a Morita-Baylis-Hillman type reaction to generate functionalized enamides in a regio- & stereoselective fashion.

Abstract
The first TiCl(4)-mediated condensation of secondary amides with aldehydes and ketones has been achieved. The reaction proceeds at room temperature and is complete within 5 h in most cases. The optimized procedure used 5 equiv of an amine base hinting that the in situ activation of both the amide and the Lewis acid is required. The reaction affords polysubstituted (E)-enamides.
