Abstract
A layered crystalline phosphate α-Sn(HPO4)2·H2O (1), prepared and characterized in the present study by the multinuclear solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), powder X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis techniques, was treated with D2O and HOD imitating the reaction conditions in a water medium. The 2H solid-echo magic angle spinning NMR spectra of the products have revealed on their surface low mobile water molecules and hydronium ions, forming a structure close to the Zundel cation, [D2O···D-OD2]+. All the deuterons in the hydronium ions are tangled by hydrogen bonds with the water and the surface phosphate groups and stabilized by ionic interactions.

Abstract
Four different metal nanoparticles (metal = Ag, Ru, Pt, or Rh) were impregnated on the acidic cesium salt of tungstophosphoric acid Cs2.5H0.5PW12O40 (CsPW) with a loading amount of 2 wt%. The prepared catalysts were characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), N2 sorption measurements, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Results confirmed the formation of highly distributed metallic nanoparticle centres over the acidic CsPW. The catalytic activity of the prepared catalysts were evaluated in the liquid phase hydrogenation of methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) to 2-methylpentane (2-MP) at 453 K. Pd-CsPW showed the highest activity compared to other catalysts, where 10% conversion was obtained with 91% selectivity after 4 h’s reaction time.

Abstract
The KNb3O8 potassium triniobate phase is a layered compound that shows excellent photocatalytic activity, intercalation properties and electrochemical performances. K–Sn exchange of KNb3O8 films leads to decrease the optical gap towards visible range.

Abstract
Density functional theory calculations have been carried out to investigate the electronic structures and the alpha/beta relative stability of Keggin-typed [XW(12)O(40)]n- anions with transition metal as heteroatom X (X = Cr(VI), V(V), Ti(IV), Fe(III), Co(III), Ni(III), Co(II) and Zn(II)). Nice agreement in geometries between computation and experiment has been obtained, and the higher stability of the alpha isomer over the beta one has been confirmed. Structural parameter analysis reveals that the {M(3)O(13)} triads in both alpha and beta isomers contract considerably with the increase of the negative anionic charge, while the overall size of both isomers shrinks only slightly. Fragment molecular orbital analysis shows that except alpha/beta-[TiW(12)O(40)]4-, the electronic structures of Keggin anions can be described by the insertion of the e and/or t2 orbital of XO4n- into the frontier orbitals of W(12)O(36) cage, and this leads to the specific redox property, which is different from that of the Keggin anions with main-group elements as heteroatoms. Energy decomposition analysis shows that the enhanced intrinsic stability of the alpha isomer in Td arrangement of W(12)O(36) shell and the larger deformation of the alpha over the beta isomer are two dominating factors and contribute oppositely to the alpha/beta relative stability.
