Abstract
As mercury ions (Hg2+) are emanated to surroundings in the course of various natural events and human activities, an accurate sensing of Hg2+ is essential for human health and environmental protection. Herein, a new aggregation-induced chemiluminescence (CL) sensor for fast, sensitive, and selective detection of Hg2+ is developed, based on the CL enhancement of bis(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl)oxalate (TCPO)-H2O2 system by thiolate-protected gold complexes (Au(I)-thiolate complexes) in the aggregated state. Because Hg2+ has a strong interaction with hydrosulfuryl (-SH) groups in Au(I)-thiolate complexes, the aggregation is disrupted and the CL is quenched. The decrease of CL intensity is proportional to Hg2+ contents with a linear range of 0.005-10 μg mL-1 and the limit of detection (LOD) is 3 ng mL-1. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first AIE CL sensor for Hg2+ detection. The study opens up attractive perspectives for developing simple and rapid aggregation-induced CL methods in monitoring heavy metals.

Abstract
A ditopic Schiff base ligand, H2L has been synthesized and characterized by all spectroscopic techniques. It is highly selective and specific towards Al3+ in semi aqueous medium (DMF/H2O mixture) by exhibiting a drastic increase in the fluorescence intensity. The emission studies, spectroscopic data, life time and quantum yield results have been used to understand its binding mode, explore its specificity and establish its efficacy. The intensity difference is remarkable in physiological pH range. Due to its reversible behavior this ditopic fluorescent chemosensor can be used multiple times to make it cost effective. Detection limit for this chemosensor was found to be 0.65 μM. Experiments with TLC plates show that it can be used as a practical and portable sensor for studying environmental samples in real life. The L-Al3+ complex generated in the solution acts as a sensor to sequentially detect pyrophosphate groups present in inorganic pyrophosphates, ATP and ADP among other anions by turning off the fluorescence. Inhibit logic gate and its corresponding truth table has been developed to aid in further exploiting its multidimensional applications.

Abstract
A novel fluorescence sensing 1,8-naphthalimide fluorophore is synthesized and investigated. The novel probe comprising two different binding moieties is capable to detect selectively Fe3+ over the other representative metal ions as well as a combination of biologically important cations such as Fe3+, Cu2+ and Hg2+ in the physiological range without an interfering effect of the pHs. Due to the remarkable fluorescence changes in the presence of Fe3+, Hg2+ and Cu2+ ions, INH and AND logic gates are executed and the system is able to act as a single output combinatorial logic circuit with three chemical inputs.

Abstract
Two new tripodal receptors (1–2) have been synthesized and characterized by various spectroscopic techniques. The nano-aggregates of 1 and 2 (N1 and N2) have been prepared by a re-precipitation method in aqueous medium and have shown different photo-physical properties. Nano-aggregates of 1 (N1) can selectively recognize Hg(2+) in aqueous medium in the presence of other metal ions with enhancement in fluorescent intensity. The response was linearly proportional to the concentration of Hg(2+) in the range 0–10 μM with a detection limit of 2.4 nM. The mechanism of selective binding of Hg(2+) by N1 has also been supported by theoretical studies. To the best of our knowledge, this work represents the first report on substituted thiourea based nano-aggregates for nano-molar detection of mercury in aqueous medium.
