Abstract
Light emitting diodes (LEDs) with low colour temperatures (CTs) have been proved to be physiologically-friendly light sources. However, there are few reports on the photophysical properties of luminescent materials with CTs lower than candlelight. Herein, one- and two-photon optical properties of four fluorenone-based conjugated oligomers have been systemically investigated. By using a sum-over-essential states (SOS) approach, we obtained the transition dipole moments and two-photon absorption (TPA) cross sections. The triphenylamine end-capped oligomer exhibits reddish orange luminescence with extremely low colour temperature of 1686 K, which is much lower than that of candlelight. Fluorene-ethylene units serving as π-spacers could weaken the role of electron-donating units and effectively enhance the TPA performance of oligomers. Our results provide an effective way for the design and optimization of universal light-emitting material candidates in optoelectronic devices.

Abstract
Due to their capability of film formation and remarkable optical features, semiconductor polymers with high two-photon absorption (2PA) have been studied as potential candidates for the development of organic photonic platforms. Furthermore, there is a high demand for photonic devices operating in the near-infrared (IR) region. However, the magnitude of the nonlinear optical response of random coil polymers in the IR region is weak due to the loss of molecular structure caused by increasing the π-conjugated backbone. Thus, herein we aim to investigate the molecular structure and 2PA features relationship for four polymers with supramolecular (helical) rodlike structure. Such polymers have a rigid core based on triphenylamine groups connected to the chiral binaphthalene units and a strong electron-withdrawing group (EWG). This kind of structure allows a very high chromophore density, which was responsible for generating 2PA cross-section between 305 GM and 565 GM in the near-IR (900-1300 nm), depending on the EWG strength. in light of the two-level model within the sum-overstates approach, we estimated the degree of intramolecular charge transfer induced by 2PA in the IR region, and values as high as 50-70% were found. Such a critical outcome allows the 2PA cross-section in the IR region to remain high even though the ratio between the visible/IR-band 2PA cross-section increases as a function of EWG strength.

Abstract
We introduce the principle and applications of one-photon absorption (OPA) and two-photon absorption (TPA) controlled by external electric fields. The physical mechanism of OPA and TPA are firstly introduced, which can visually promote thoroughly understanding of principle and physical analysis. Secondly, the applications of different molecules in OPA and TPA with and without external electric field are introduced in detail. The effect of the external electric field on the charge transfer during the absorption process is also exemplified. Furthermore, the external electric field on the molecular orbital wave function is visualized through the charge transfer process in the excited state transitions. The purpose of this review is to deepen the understanding of the types of charge transfer under linear and non-linear absorption in different systems.

Abstract
Thiophenes are an important class of molecules in fields as diverse as petrochemistry, molecular electronics, and optoelectronics. Thiophenic submolecular motifs are thought to play a role in molecular association and nanoaggregation phenomena in both pure materials and natural and synthetic mixtures. Vibrational (infrared and Raman) spectroscopy provides the means to characterize these species. In this work far-infrared photoacoustic and low-frequency Raman spectra of a series of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons containing sulfur have been measured and interpreted using DFT calculations based on a perturbational-variational method coupled with potential truncation. The approach and outcomes illustrate how inter- and intramolecular vibrations for thiophenic systems in single and multicomponent mixtures can be discriminated. This work offers the perspective to search the inter- and intramolecular signatures of the main submolecular motifs and heteroelements postulated as being present in the asphaltenes.

Abstract
This paper investigates the effect of solvent-induced conformational changes of poly(3,6-phenanthrene) on their two-photon absorption (2PA). Such effect was studied employing the wavelength-tunable femtosecond Z-scan technique and modeled using the sum-over-essential states approach. We observed a strong reduction of the 2PA cross-section when the sample was prepared in hexane (poor solvent) in comparison to chloroform (good solvent), which is related to the conformation adopted by the polymer in each case. In chloroform it adopts a random coil conformation, as opposed to the one-handed helix conformation in hexane. Our results pointed out that the coil to helix conformation change decreases the degree of molecular planarity of the polymer π-conjugated backbone, which is primarily responsible for their optical nonlinearity, contributing to diminishing the effective transition dipole moments and, consequently, the 2PA cross-section. Moreover, by studying the nonlinear response with different light polarization, we showed that, although the solvent-induced conformational change does not alter the molecular symmetry of the polymer, it modifies considerably the direction of the transition dipole moments between the excited states.

Abstract
The adsorption and thermal stability of 2-octylthieno[3,4-b]thiophene (OTTP) on the Au(111) surfaces have been studied using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), temperature programmed desorption (TPD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). UHV-STM studies revealed that the vapor-deposited OTTP on Au(111) generated disordered adlayers with monolayer thickness even at saturation coverage. XPS and TPD studies indicated that OTTP molecules on Au(111) are stable up to 450 K and further heating of the sample resulted in thermal decomposition to produce H(2) and H(2)S via C-S bond scission in the thieno-thiophene rings. Dehydrogenation continues to occur above 600 K and the molecules were ultimately transformed to carbon clusters at 900 K. Highly resolved air-STM images showed that OTTP adlayers on Au(111) prepared from solution are composed of a well-ordered and low-coverage phase where the molecules lie flat on the surface, which can be assigned as a (9×2√33)R5° structure. Finally, based on analysis of STM, TPD, and XPS results, we propose a thermal decomposition mechanism of OTTP on Au(111) as a function of annealing temperature.

Abstract
In this report, we investigate the polarization effect (linear, elliptical and circular) on the two-photon absorption (2PA) properties of a chiral compound based in azoaromatic moieties using the femtosecond Z-scan technique with low repetition rate and low pulse energy. We observed a strong 2PA modulation between 800 nm and 960 nm as a function the polarization changes from linear through elliptical to circular. Such results were interpreted employing the sum-over-essential states approach, which allowed us to model the 2PA circular-linear dichroism effect and to identifier the overlapping of the excited electronic states responsible by the 2PA allowed band.
