Abstract
New parameterizations for the Lennard-Jones 12/6 potential capable of reproducing the vapor pressure and surface tension with sufficient precision, but not the liquid-vapor equilibrium densities for the case of simple fluids that include Ar, Kr, Xe, Ne, and CH4 are presented in this work. These results are compared with those derived from the family of Mie(n, 6) potentials, which adequately reproduce the coexistence curve and the vapor pressure, leaving aside the surface tension. In addition, a detailed analysis is presented on different parameterizations and methodologies, which have been developed in recent decades to estimate the interfacial properties of interest here for simple fluids, such as argon, which is a molecule that is, in principle, "simple" to study but that clearly reveals the enormous discrepancy between the results reported in the literature throughout these years. These facts undoubtedly reveal one of the fundamental problems in the context of molecular thermodynamics of fluids: reproducing different thermodynamic properties with sufficient precision from a single set of free parameters for some interaction potential. In order to show the scope of the parameterizations presented for the Lennard-Jones model, they were successfully applied to the case of binary mixtures, which included Ar-Kr, Ar-CH4, and Xe-Kr. Finally, and with the aim of showing a possible solution to the problem posed in this research, results of the same interfacial properties above mentioned for argon and methane were presented in this work by using a set of molecular interactions, called ANC2s, whose flexibility allowed to reproduce the experimental evidence with just one parameterization. The results reported in this work were generated using molecular dynamics simulations.

Abstract
A pair of flat parallel surfaces, each freely diffusing along the direction of their separation, will eventually come into contact. If the shapes of these surfaces also fluctuate, then contact will occur when their centers-of-mass remain separated by a nonzero distance ℓ. An example of such a situation is the motion of interfaces between two phases at conditions of thermodynamic coexistence, and in particular the annihilation of domain wall pairs under periodic boundary conditions. Here we present a general approach to calculate the probability distribution of the contact distance ℓ and determine how its most likely value ℓ^{*} depends on the surfaces' lateral size L. Using the Edward-Wilkinson equation as a model for interfaces, we demonstrate that ℓ^{*} scales weakly with system size, i.e., the dependence of ℓ^{*} on L for both (1+1)- and (2+1)-dimensional interfaces is such that lim_{L→∞}(ℓ^{*}/L)=0. In particular, for (2+1)-dimensional interfaces ℓ^{*} is an algebraic function of logL, a result that is confirmed by computer simulations of slab-shaped domains formed under periodic boundary conditions. This weak scaling implies that such domains remain topologically intact until ℓ becomes very small compared to the lateral size of the interface, contradicting expectations from equilibrium thermodynamics.

Abstract
We report molecular simulations of the liquid-vapor cylindrical interface of methane. We apply the truncated Lennard-Jones potential and specific long-range corrections for the surface tension developed especially for cylindrical interfaces. We investigate the impact of the cutoff on the radial density profile, the intrinsic and long-range correction parts to the surface tension, and Tolman length. We also study the curvature dependence of the surface tension as a function of the cutoff used. In this work we shed light that both density and Tolman length are cutoff-dependent whereas the total surface tension is slightly curvature and cutoff dependent.

Abstract
The structural properties and interfacial tension of a fluid of rodlike hard-spherocylinder particles in contact with hard structureless flat walls are studied by means of Monte Carlo simulation. The calculated surface tension between the rod fluid and the substrate is characterized by a nonmonotonic trend as a function of the bulk concentration (density) over the range of isotropic bulk concentrations. As suggested by earlier theoretical studies, a surface-ordering scenario is confirmed by our simulations: the local orientational order close to the wall changes from uniaxial to biaxial nematic when the bulk concentration reaches about 85% of the value at the onset of the isotropic-nematic phase transition. The surface ordering coincides with a wetting transition whereby the hard wall is wetted by a nematic film. Accurate values of the fluid-solid surface tension, the adsorption, and the average particle-wall contact distance are reported (over a broad range of densities into the dense nematic region for the first time), which can serve as a useful benchmark for future theoretical and experimental studies on confined rod fluids. The simulation data are supplemented with predictions from second-virial density functional theory, which are in good qualitative agreement with the simulation results.

Abstract
We report molecular simulations of oil-water liquid-liquid interfaces by using atomistic and coarse grained (CG) MARTINI force fields. We also apply the electronic continuum (EC) model to the MARTINI force field for the calculation of the interfacial tension of oil/water-salt systems. In a first step, we propose to calculate the interfacial tensions using thermodynamic and mechanical definitions of hydrocarbon-water interfacial systems modified by the addition of salts and alcohol. We also establish here the order of magnitude of the long-range corrections to the interfacial tension in fluid-fluid interfaces. Whereas the atomistic models are able to reproduce quantitatively the interfacial tension and the coexisting densities of oil-water systems, the coarse-description shows some deviations in the prediction of the interfacial tensions. Nevertheless, the physical features of these liquid-liquid interfaces are well-captured by this CG description. The CG force field offers then a very challenging alternative that will require however a more developed calibration of the parameters on the basis of liquid-liquid properties.
