Abstract
A modification of Slusher-Hahn's double resonance technique is described and experimentally tested. It is based on application of multiple frequency sweeps and can be used for a rapid location of nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) frequencies. The resolution of the present technique is relatively low but, when the NQR frequencies are located, it is easy to use either the Slusher-Hahn's technique or pulse NQR to determine the NQR frequencies with a higher precision.

Abstract
Systems with short hydrogen bonds (H-bonds) are notoriously difficult to describe even using cutting edge experimental techniques supported by advanced computational protocols. One of the most challenging issues is the highly dislocated H-bonded proton, which is typically smeared over a large area, featuring complex dynamics governed by pronounced nuclear quantum effects. Thus, in combination with experimental results, these systems offer a rich platform for the benchmarking of various computational approaches and methods. Herein, we present a methodology combining experimental and computational assessment of H-bond observables probed by the nuclear quadrupole resonance technique. Focusing on the case of picolinic acid N-oxide featuring one of the shortest known hydrogen bonds (ROO ∼ 2.425 Å), we compare the predictions of nuclear quadrupole coupling constants (NQCCs) for a series of computational models differing in fine structural details of the H-bond. By comparing the computed 14N and 17O NQCCs with the measured ones and by analyzing the sensitivity of NQCCs to H-bond geometry variations, we demonstrate that NQCCs represent a very sensitive probe for H-bond geometry, particularly the proton location, thereby offering, in conjunction with computations, an accurate and reliable tool for the fine structural characterization of short H-bonds. Importantly, the present methodology is a good compromise between accuracy and computational cost.

Abstract
The state of the tautomeric equilibria of 2(6)-hydroxy-4-methyl-6(2)-oxo-1-(substituted phenyl)-1,2(1,6)-dihydropyridine-3-carbonitriles, 2-PY/6-PY, was evaluated using experimental and theoretical methodology. The experimental data were interpreted with the aid of time-dependent density functional (TD-DFT) method. Electron charge density was obtained by the use of Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules, i.e. Bader's analysis. Linear solvation energy relationships (LSER) rationalized solvent influence on tautomeric equilibrium. Linear free energy relationships (LFERs) were applied to the substituent-induced NMR chemical shifts (SCS) using SSP (single substituent parameter) and DSP (dual substituent parameter) model. Theoretical calculations and obtained correlations gave insight into the influence of molecular conformation on the transmission of substituent electronic effects, as well as on different solvent-solute interactions, and the state of tautomeric equilibrium.

Abstract
Cocrystals of 4,4'-bipyridyl and several carboxylic acids were grown from the methanol solution of the cocrystal formers. Complete (14)N NQR spectra of these cocrystals have been measured using (1)H-(14)N nuclear quadrupole double resonance. The principal values of the quadrupole coupling tensor are calculated from the (14)N NQR frequencies. A large variation in the (14)N quadrupole coupling constant between 1.3 MHz and 4.7 MHz is observed. A very low (14)N quadrupole coupling constant, characteristic for proton transfer O-H···N → O(-)···H-N(+), is observed in 4,4'-bipyridyl-oxalic acid (1 : 1). In 4,4'-bipyridyl-5-chlorosalycilic acid (1 : 1) the (14)N NQR data show the presence of a short, strong N···H···O hydrogen bond. A correlation of the principal values of the (14)N quadrupole coupling tensor is observed. The correlation is analyzed in the model, where the deformation of the lone pair electron orbital and the change of the population of the π-electron orbital produce the variation of the (14)N quadrupole coupling tensor in the hydrogen bonded 4,4'-bipyridyl. The temperature variation of the (14)N quadrupole coupling tensor in 4,4'-bipyridyl-5-chlorosalycilic acid (1 : 1) is analyzed. Proton displacement within the N···H···O hydrogen bond and the change of the population of the π-electron orbital at the two nitrogen positions in a 4,4'-bipyridyl molecule in the temperature interval between 157 K and 323 K are determined.

Abstract
With global warming becoming one of the main problems our society is facing nowadays, there is an urgent demand to develop materials suitable for CO2 storage as well as for gas separation. Within this context, hierarchical porous structures are of great interest for in-flow applications because of the desirable combination of an extensive internal reactive surface along narrow nanopores with facile molecular transport through broad "highways" leading to and from these pores. Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have been recently used in the synthesis of carbon monoliths exhibiting a bicontinuous porous structure composed of continuous macroporous channels and a continuous carbon network that contains a certain microporosity and provides considerable surface area. In this work, we have prepared two DESs for the preparation of two hierarchical carbon monoliths with different compositions (e.g., either nitrogen-doped or not) and structure. It is worth noting that DESs played a capital role in the synthesis of hierarchical carbon monoliths not only promoting the spinodal decomposition that governs the formation of the bicontinuous porous structure but also providing the precursors required to tailor the composition and the molecular sieve structure of the resulting carbons. We have studied the performance of these two carbons for CO2, N2, and CH4 adsorption in both monolithic and powdered form. We have also studied the selective adsorption of CO2 versus CH4 in equilibrium and dynamic conditions. We found that these materials combined a high CO2-sorption capacity besides an excellent CO2/N2 and CO2/CH4 selectivity and, interestingly, this performance was preserved when processed in both monolithic and powdered form.
