Abstract
In this study, the solubility of amlodipine besylate in N-methyl-pyrrolidone/1-propanol and N-methyl-pyrrolidone/2-propanol binary mixture systems were measured using a common shake-flask method followed by spectroscopy analysis at temperature ranges from 298.2K to 313.2K. The generated data were fitted to some models, van't Hoff, Jouyban-Acree, Jouyban-Acree-van't Hoff, mixture response surface, and modified Wilson, to mathematical representation the solubility data. Finally, the apparent thermodynamics properties for the saturated mixtures were computed using van't Hoff and Gibbs equations.

Abstract
Background: Solubility is one of the most important parameters in the research and development processes of the pharmaceutical industry. In this context, cosolubility is one of the most used strategies to improve the solubility of poorly soluble drugs, besides allowing to identify some factors involved in the dissolution process. The aim of this research is to evaluate the solubility of sulfamethazine in acetotinitrile + 1-propanol cosolvent mixtures at 9 temperatures (278.15, 283.15, 288.15, 293.15, 298.15, 303.15, 308.15, 313.15, and 318.15 K); a drug used in human and veterinary therapy and two solvents of great chemical-pharmaceutical interest. Methods: The determination was carried out by the shaking flask method and the drug was quantified by UV/Vis spectrophotometry. Results: The solubility of sulfamethazine increases from pure 1-propanol (solvent in which it reaches its lowest solubility at 278.15 K) to pure acetonitrile (solvent in which it reaches its maximum solubility at 318.15 K), behaving in a logarithmic-linear fashion. Conclusions: The increase in solubility is related to the acid/base character of the cosolvent mixtures and not to the solubility parameter of the mixtures. The dissolution process is endothermic and favored by the solution entropy, and also shows a strong entropic compensation.

Abstract
Sulfamerazine (SMR) is a drug used as an antibacterial agent in the treatment of some pathologies, such as bronchitis, prostatitis and urinary tract infections. Although this drug was developed in 1945 and, due to its toxicity, was partially displaced by penicillin, due to the current problem of bacterial resistance, compounds such as SMR have regained validity. In this context, the thermodynamic study of SMR in cosolvent mixtures of acetonitrile (MeCN) + ethanol (EtOH) at nine temperatures (278.15-318.15 K) is presented. The solubility of SMR was determined by UV-Vis spectrophotometry, following the guidelines of the shake-flask method. The solubility process was endothermic in all cases; thus, the minimum solubility was reached in pure EtOH at 278.15 K, and the maximum solubility was reached in pure MeCN at 318.15 K. Both the solution process and the mixing process were entropy-driven. On the other hand, the solubility data were modeled by using the van't Hoff-Yalkowsky-Roseman model, obtaining an overall average relative deviation of 3.9%. In general terms, it can be concluded that the solution process of SMR in {MeCN (1) + EtOH (2)} mixtures is thermodependent, favored by the entropy of the solution and mixture; additionally, the van't Hoff-Yalkowsky-Roseman model allows very good approximations to be obtained and is a simple model that starts from only four experimental data.

Abstract
This study investigates the solubility behavior of Naproxen (NAP) in binary solvent mixtures of 1-propanol (1-PrOH) and 2-propanol (2-PrOH) with ethylene glycol (EG) across a range of temperatures. The solubility of NAP was experimentally determined at five different temperatures (293.15 to 313.15 K), and the data were correlated using various thermodynamic models, including the van't Hoff, Jouyban-Acree, modified Wilson, mixture response surface, Jouyban-Acree-van't Hoff. The results demonstrated that NAP's solubility increases with temperature in both solvent systems. Notably, NAP exhibited higher solubility in mixtures with 1-PrOH compared to 2-PrOH, despite the lower polarity of 2-PrOH. This unexpected trend is attributed to the distinct molecular interactions, including hydrogen bonding, influenced by the structural differences between 1-PrOH and 2-PrOH. The X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed that no polymorphic transformation occurred in NAP during dissolution, maintaining its crystalline structure. The solubility data were well-correlated by the applied models, with overall MRDs% (mean relative deviation percentage) below 6.1.

Abstract
In this study, the solubility of mesalazine was investigated in binary solvent mixtures of poly ethylene glycols 200/600 and water at temperatures ranging from 293.2K to 313.2K. The solubility of mesalazine was determined using a shake-flask method, and its concentrations were measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The obtained solubility data were analyzed using mathematical models including the van't Hoff, Jouyban-Acree, Jouyban-Acree-van't Hoff, mixture response surface, and modified Wilson models. The experimental data obtained for mesalazine dissolution encompassed various thermodynamic properties, including ΔG°, ΔH°, ΔS°, and TΔS°. These properties offer valuable insights into the energetic aspects of the dissolution process and were calculated based on the van't Hoff equation.

Abstract
Absolute qualifications with the application of protic ionic liquids (PILs) and a recognition of the numerous thermophysical features of these materials are required in various processes. Due to the wonderful applications of these compounds and their high potential in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, there is a particular eagerness to utilize these PILs in drug solubility and delivery area. The aim of this investigation was to explore the solubility of the acetaminophen (ACP) in three PILs base on ethanolamine laurate [(2-hydroxyethylammonium laurate [MEA]La), (bis(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium laurate [DEA]La), and ( tris(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium laurate [TEA]La)]. The shake flask method has been employed in this study, and the conditions were set at T = (298.15-313.15) K and atmospheric pressure. Moreover, the experimental solubility data was correlated using a variety of empirical and thermodynamic models, encompassing e-NRTL and Wilson activity coefficient models and the empirical models such as Van't Hoff-Jouyban-Acree and Modified Apelblat-Jouyban-Acree. Their performance for the system containing [MEA]La follow the trend for activity coefficient models and empirical respectively: the Wilson > e-NRTL and Modified Apelblat-Jouyban-Acree > Van't Hoff-Jouyban-Acree. On the other hand, [DEA]La and [TEA]La PILs followed slightly different trend for activity coefficient models and empirical respectively: the Wilson > e-NRTL and Van't Hoff-uyban-Acree > Modified Apelblat-Jouyban-Acree. The Van't Hoff and Gibbs equations were used to determine the thermodynamic properties of dissolution in the studied systems.

Abstract
Solubility is one of the most important physicochemical properties due to its involvement in physiological (bioavailability), industrial (design) and environmental (biotoxicity) processes, and in this regard, cosolvency is one of the best strategies to increase the solubility of poorly soluble drugs in aqueous systems. Thus, the aim of this research is to thermodynamically evaluate the dissolution process of triclocarban (TCC) in cosolvent mixtures of {N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) + water (W)} at seven temperatures (288.15, 293.15, 298.15, 303.15, 308.15, 313.15 and 318.15 K). Solubility is determined by UV/vis spectrophotometry using the flask-shaking method. The dissolution process of the TCC is endothermic and strongly dependent on the cosolvent composition, achieving the minimum solubility in pure water and the maximum solubility in NMP. The activity coefficient decreases from pure water to NMP, reaching values less than one, demonstrating the excellent positive cosolvent effect of NMP, which is corroborated by the negative values of the Gibbs energy of transfer. In general terms, the dissolution process is endothermic, and the increase in TCC solubility may be due to the affinity of TCC with NMP, in addition to the water de-structuring capacity of NMP generating a higher number of free water molecules.

Abstract
Drug solubility is of central importance to the pharmaceutical sciences, but reported values often show discrepancies. Various factors have been discussed in the literature to account for such differences, but the influence of manual testing in comparison to a robotic system has not been studied adequately before. In this study, four expert researchers were asked to measure the solubility of four drugs with various solubility behaviors (i.e., paracetamol, mesalazine, lamotrigine, and ketoconazole) in the same laboratory with the same instruments, method, and material sources and repeated their measurements after a time interval. In addition, the same solubility data were determined using an automated laser-based setup. The results suggest that manual testing leads to a handling influence on measured solubility values, and the results were discussed in more detail as compared to the automated laser-based system. Within the framework of unavoidable uncertainties of solubility testing, it is a possibility to combine minimal experimental testing that is preferably automated with mathematical modeling. That is a practical suggestion to support future pharmaceutical development in a more efficient way.

Abstract
The solubility of active pharmaceutical ingredients is a mandatory physicochemical characteristic in pharmaceutical practice. However, the number of potential solvents and their mixtures prevents direct measurements of all possible combinations for finding environmentally friendly, operational and cost-effective solubilizers. That is why support from theoretical screening seems to be valuable. Here, a collection of acetaminophen and phenacetin solubility data in neat and binary solvent mixtures was used for the development of a nonlinear deep machine learning model using new intuitive molecular descriptors derived from COSMO-RS computations. The literature dataset was augmented with results of new measurements in aqueous binary mixtures of 4-formylmorpholine, DMSO and DMF. The solubility values back-computed with the developed ensemble of neural networks are in perfect agreement with the experimental data, which enables the extensive screening of many combinations of solvents not studied experimentally within the applicability domain of the trained model. The final predictions were presented not only in the form of the set of optimal hyperparameters but also in a more intuitive way by the set of parameters of the Jouyban-Acree equation often used in the co-solvency domain. This new and effective approach is easily extendible to other systems, enabling the fast and reliable selection of candidates for new solvents and directing the experimental solubility screening of active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Abstract
Meloxicam is an analgesic and anti-inflammatory drug widely prescribed in current therapeutics that exhibits very low solubility in water. Thus, this physicochemical property has been studied in N-methyl-pyrrolidone (NMP)-aqueous mixtures at several temperatures to expand the solubility database about pharmaceutical compounds in aqueous-mixed solvents. The flask-shake method and UV-vis spectrophotometry were used for meloxicam solubility determination as a function of temperature and mixture composition. Several cosolvency models, including the Jouyban-Acree model, were challenged for equilibrium solubility correlation and/or prediction. The van't Hoff and Gibbs equations were employed here to calculate the apparent standard thermodynamic quantities for the dissolution and mixing processes of this drug in these aqueous mixtures. Inverse Kirkwood-Buff integrals were employed to calculate the preferential solvation parameters of meloxicam by NMP in all mixtures. Meloxicam equilibrium solubility increased with increasing temperature, and maximal solubilities were observed in neat NMP at all temperatures. The mole fraction solubility of meloxicam increased from 1.137 × 10-6 in neat water to 3.639 × 10-3 in neat NMP at 298.15 K. The Jouyban-Acree model correlated the meloxicam solubility in these mixtures very well. Dissolution processes were endothermic and entropy-driven in all cases, except in neat water, where nonenthalpy- nor entropy-driven was observed. Apparent Gibbs energies of dissolution varied from 34.35 kJ·mol-1 in pure water to 7.99 kJ·mol-1 in pure NMP at a mean harmonic temperature of 303.0 K. A nonlinear enthalpy-entropy relationship was observed in the plot of dissolution enthalpy vs dissolution Gibbs energy. Meloxicam is preferentially hydrated in water-rich mixtures but preferentially solvated by NMP in the composition interval of 0.16 < x 1 < 1.00.

AbstractEquilibrium solubility of triclocarban (TCC) expressed in mole fraction in 1,4-dioxane and cyclohexane, as well, as in 19 {cyclohexane (1) + 1,4-dioxane (2)} mixtures, was determined at seven temperatures from T = (288.15 to 318.15) K. Logarithmic TCC solubility in these cosolvent mixtures was adequately correlated with a lineal bivariate equation as function of both the mixtures composition and temperature. Apparent thermodynamic quantities for the dissolution and mixing processes were computed by means of the van’t Hoff and Gibbs equations observing endothermal and entropy-driven dissolution processes in all cases. The enthalpy–entropy compensation plot of apparent enthalpy vs. apparent Gibbs energy was linear exhibiting positive slope implying enthalpy-driving for TCC transfer from cyclohexane to 1,4-dioxane. Ultimately, by using the inverse Kirkwood–Buff integrals it is observed that TCC is preferentially solvated by cyclohexane molecules in 1,4-dioxane-rich mixtures but preferentially solvated by 1,4-dioxane molecules in cyclohexane-rich mixtures.

Abstract
The solubility of drugs in cosolvent systems of pharmaceutical interest is of great importance for understanding and optimizing a large number of processes. Here, we report the solubility of isoniazid in nine (PEG 200 + water) cosolvent mixtures at nine temperatures (278.15, 283.15, 288.15, 293.15, 298.15, 303.15, 308.15, and 318.15 K) determined by UV-vis spectrophotometry. From the solubility data, the thermodynamic solution, mixing, and transfer functions were calculated in addition to performing the enthalpy-entropy compensation analysis. The solubility of isoniazid depends on the concentration of PEG 200 (positive cosolvent effect) and temperature (endothermic process) reaching its maximum solubility in pure PEG 200 at 318.15 K and the lowest solubility in pure water at 278.15 K. The solution process is favored by the solution entropy and according to the enthalpy-entropy compensation analysis it is driven by entropy in mixtures rich in water and by enthalpy in mixtures rich in PEG 200.

Expanding the Equilibrium Solubility and Dissolution Thermodynamics of Benzoic Acid in Aqueous Alcoholic Mixtures. REACTIONS 2022. Abstract
The equilibrium solubility of benzoic acid in water and ethanol, as well as in nine {ethanol (1) + water (2)} mixtures, was determined from T = (293.15 to 323.15) K. Benzoic acid mole fraction solubility in these aqueous-ethanolic mixtures was adequately correlated with some well-known correlation/prediction models, obtaining mean percentage deviations of 2.2 to 7.6%. Apparent thermodynamic quantities, namely, Gibbs energy, enthalpy, and entropy, for the dissolution, mixing and solvation processes, were computed by means of the van ’t Hoff and Gibbs equations. The enthalpy–entropy compensation plot of apparent enthalpy vs. apparent Gibbs energy of dissolution was not linear, indicating enthalpy and entropy mechanisms for transfer. Ultimately, by using the inverse Kirkwood–Buff integrals, it is observed that benzoic acid is preferentially solvated by water molecules in water-rich mixtures but preferentially solvated by ethanol molecules in those {ethanol (1) + water (2)} mixtures of 0.24 < x1 < 1.00.

Abstract
Transition metal catalysis is of utmost importance for the development of sustainable processes in academia and industry. The activity and selectivity of metal complexes are typically the result of the interplay between ligand and metal properties. As the ligand can be chemically altered, a large research focus has been on ligand development. More recently, it has been recognized that further control over activity and selectivity can be achieved by using the "second coordination sphere", which can be seen as the region beyond the direct coordination sphere of the metal center. Hydrogen bonds appear to be very useful interactions in this context as they typically have sufficient strength and directionality to exert control of the second coordination sphere, yet hydrogen bonds are typically very dynamic, allowing fast turnover. In this review we have highlighted several key features of hydrogen bonding interactions and have summarized the use of hydrogen bonding to program the second coordination sphere. Such control can be achieved by bridging two ligands that are coordinated to a metal center to effectively lead to supramolecular bidentate ligands. In addition, hydrogen bonding can be used to preorganize a substrate that is coordinated to the metal center. Both strategies lead to catalysts with superior properties in a variety of metal catalyzed transformations, including (asymmetric) hydrogenation, hydroformylation, C-H activation, oxidation, radical-type transformations, and photochemical reactions.

Abstract
Solubility of sulfamethazine (SMT) in acetonitrile (MeCN) + methanol (MeOH) cosolvents was determined at nine temperatures between 278.15 and 318.15 K. From the solubility data expressed in molar fraction, the thermodynamic functions of solution, transfer and mixing were calculated using the Gibbs and van ’t Hoff equations; on the other hand, the solubility data were modeled according to the Wilson models and NRTL. The solubility of SMT is thermo-dependent and is influenced by the solubility parameter of the cosolvent mixtures. In this case, the maximum solubility was achieved in the cosolvent mixture w0.40 at 318.15 K and the minimum in pure MeOH at 278.15 K. According to the thermodynamic functions, the SMT solution process is endothermic in addition to being favored by the entropic factor, and as for the preferential solvation parameter, SMT tends to be preferentially solvated by MeOH in all cosolvent systems; however, δx3,1<0.01, so the results are not conclusive. Finally, according to mean relative deviations (MRD%), the two models could be very useful tools for calculating the solubility of SMT in cosolvent mixtures and temperatures different from those reported in this research.
