Abstract
The generation of inverse micellar nanostructures, especially those with open channels, using commercially available diblock copolymers (BCP), is vital for their wide applications in drug delivery and catalyst templating. However, the rigid requirements for forming inverse morphologies, such as the highly asymmetric molecular structures, the semicrystalline motifs, and concentrated solutions of diblock copolymers, represent obstacles to the development of successful strategies. In this study, the inverse polystyrene-block-poly(2-vinylpyridine) (PS30K-b-P2VP8.5K) micelles, i.e., the hexasomes with p6mm lattice, were generated through a modified solvent exchange via adding d-tartaric acid (d-TA) in the nonsolvent. Various intermediate morphologies have been identified with the change of d-TA concentration. Interestingly, in the high d-TA concentration (∼20 mg/mL), the hexasomes with close-packed hoops changed to mesoporous spheres with regularly packed perpendicular cylindrical channels (VD-TA: VBCP 6:100), and further to the mesoporous spheres with gyri-like open pores (VD-TA: VBCP > 15:100) with the increasing acidity in the mixed solvent. This study presents a simple and economical pathway for fabricating PS30K-b-P2VP8.5K hexasomes and first demonstrates these hexasomes can be modified to the morphology with open channels that will benefit their further applications.

Abstract
This report studied changes in the dynamic fragility (m) of poly(butyl methacrylate) (PBMA) by introducing guest hindered phenols capable of forming two or three intermolecular hydrogen bonds (inter-HBs) per molecule with the host polymer. The small molecules effectively decrease the m value, even if they apparently increase the glass transition temperature (Tg) of mixtures. The reduction in m was confirmed by enthalpy relaxation in two aspects: adding the guest molecule leads to a stronger cooling rate dependence of the limiting fictive temperature together with an apparent increase in aging rate of PBMA hybrids at low concentrations. By varying the molecule size and steric hindrance of the hydroxyl group on the hindered phenols, we clarified that m is primarily governed by the strength of inter-HB interactions, while the Tg value of mixtures depends on a combined effect of additive bulkiness and HB interaction. The anomalous dynamics was further rationalized not only by the HB-induced flexibility balance between side groups and backbone, but also by the reduction of cooperative rearranging sizes and alleviation of long-chain connectivity in such HB-driven hybrids.

Abstract
Studies of phase separation in lower critical solution temperature (LCST) polymer blends exposed to high-pressure CO2 provide an insight to their physical properties. Through using in situ high-pressure ATR-FTIR spectroscopic imaging, this work visualized the dynamic process of phase separation in Polycaprolactone (PCL)/Poly (lactic acid) (PLA) blend under high-pressure CO2 for the first time. ATR-FTIR spectroscopic images revealed that phase separation in PCL/PLA blends occurs with increasing temperature or upon exposure to high-pressure CO2. The change in the morphology of PCL-rich and PLA-rich domains in the ATR-FTIR spectroscopic images can be used to compare the extent of phase separation under different conditions. It is found that the extent of phase separation in PCL/PLA blends under high-pressure CO2 is enhanced with increasing temperature, CO2 pressure and exposure time. The effect of different molecular weights of one blend component, PCL, on the phase separation in PCL/PLA blends was also studied. This pioneering methodology opens possibilities to visualize the process of phase separation in LCST polymer blend systems and it can also be applied to study the process of interdiffusion in upper critical solution temperature (UCST) polymer blends.

Abstract
In this work we prepared poly(styrene⁻b⁻vinylphenol) (PS-b-PVPh) by sequential anionic living polymerization and poly(ethylene oxide-b-4-vinylpyridine) (PEO-b-P4VP) by reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer polymerization (RAFT) by using poly(ethylene oxide) 4-cyano-4-(phenylcarbonothioylthio)pentanoate (PEO-SC(S)Ph) as a macroinitiator with two hydrogen bonded acceptor groups. When blending with disordered PEO-b-P4VP diblock copolymer, we found the order-order self-assembled structure transition from lamellar structure for pure PS-b-PVPh to cylindrical, worm-like, and finally to PEO crystalline lamellar structures. Taking the advantage of the ΔK effect from competitive hydrogen bonding strengths between PVPh/P4VP and PVPh/PEO domains, it could form the hierarchical self-assembled morphologies such as core⁻shell cylindrical nanostructure.

Abstract
A poly(styrene-b-vinylbenzyl triazolylmethyl methyladenine) (PS-b-PVBA) diblock copolymer and a poly(vinylbenzyl triazolylmethyl methylthymine) (PVBT) homopolymer were prepared through a combination of nitroxide-mediated radical polymerizations and click reactions. Strong multiple hydrogen bonding interactions of the A···T binary pairs occurred in the PVBA/PVBT miscible domain of the PS-b-PVBA/PVPT diblock copolymer/homopolymer blend, as evidenced in Fourier transform infrared and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectra. The self-assembled lamellar structure of the pure PS-b-PVBA diblock copolymer after thermal annealing was transformed to a cylinder structure after blending with PVBT at lower concentrations and then to a disordered micelle or macrophase structure at higher PVBT concentrations, as revealed by small-angle X-ray scattering and transmission electron microscopy.

Abstract
Cylindrical phase polystyrene-b-polyethylene oxide (PS-b-PEO) block copolymer (BCP) was combined with lower molecular weight poly/ethylene glycols at different concentrations and their effect on the microphase separation of BCP thin films were studied. Well-ordered microphase separated, periodic nanostructures were realized using a solvent annealing approach for solution cast thin films. By optimizing solvent exposure time, the nature and concentration of the additives etc. the morphology and orientation of the films can be controlled. The addition of the glycols to PS-b-PEO enables a simple method by which the microdomain spacing of the phase separated BCP can be controlled at dimensions below 50 nm. Most interestingly, the additives results in an expected increase in domain spacing (i.e. pitch size) but in some conditions an unexpected reduction in domain spacing. The pitch size achieved by modification is in the range of 16-31 nm compared to an unmodified BCP system which exhibits a pitch size of 25 nm. The pitch size modification achieved can be explained in terms of chemical structure, solubility parameters, crystallinity and glass transition temperature of the PEO because the additives act as PEO 'stress cracking agents' whereas the PS matrix remains chemically unaffected.

Abstract
The phase behavior of strongly segregated AB diblock copolymer and selective C homopolymer blends is examined theoretically using a combination of strong stretching theory (SST) and self-consistent field theory (SCFT). The C-homopolymer is immiscible with the B-blocks but strongly attractive with the A-blocks. The effect of homopolymer content on the order-order phase transitions is analyzed. It is observed that, for AB diblock copolymers with majority A-blocks, the addition of the C-homopolymers results in lamellar to cylindrical to spherical phase transitions because of the A/C complexation. For diblock copolymers with minor A-blocks, adding C-homopolymers leads to transitions from spherical or cylindrical morphology with A-rich core to lamellae to inverted cylindrical and spherical morphologies with B-rich core. The results from analytical SST and numerical SCFT are in good agreement within most regions of the phase diagram. But the deviation becomes more obvious when the composition of A-blocks is too small and the content of added C-homopolymers is large enough, where the SCFT predicts a narrow co-existence region between different ordered phases. Furthermore, it is found that the phase behavior of the system is insensitive to the molecular weight of C-homopolymer.

Abstract
Here we report a viable route to fibrillar micelles and entrapped vesicles in aqueous solutions. Nanofibrillar micelles and entrapped vesicles were prepared from complexes of a biodegradable block copolymer poly(ethylene oxide)-block-poly(lactide) (PEO-b-PLA) and a polyelectrolyte poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) in aqueous media and directly visualized using cryogenic transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM). The self-assembly and the morphological changes in the complexes were induced by the addition of PAA/water solution into the PEO-b-PLA in tetrahydrofuran followed by dialysis against water. A variety of morphologies including spherical wormlike and fibrillar micelles, and both unilamellar and entrapped vesicles, were observed, depending on the composition, complementary binding sites of PAA and PEO, and the change in the interfacial energy. Increasing the water content in each [AA]/[EO] ratio led to a morphological transition from spheres to vesicles, displaying both the composition- and dilution-dependent micellar-to-vesicular morphological transitions.

Abstract
Ionic liquid solvent, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (BMIM[Cl]) was used to prepare cellulose/polycaprolactone (PCL) blend films. This solvent was recycled with high yield and purity after blend precipitation. The inter- and intra-molecular hydrogen bonding interactions in these blends were investigated by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and it was found that a new peak in the carbonyl region, assigned to hydrogen bonding between carbonyl groups of PCL and hydroxyl groups of cellulose in blends with PCL composition less than 40 wt%. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) results implied a partial miscibility of the two components by melting point depression. Moreover, the tensile properties of the blends can be adjusted by incorporating various amounts of PCL into cellulose. The blends show significant enhancement of thermal stability compared to the regenerated cellulose when the content of PCL is higher than 40 wt%. This work demonstrates an effective approach for the processing biodegradable blends from natural and synthetic polymers.

Abstract
Association behavior of diblock copolymer poly(4-hydroxystyrene)-block-poly(ethylene oxide) (PHOS-PEO) in aqueous solutions and solutions in water/tetrahydrofuran mixtures was studied by static, dynamic, and electrophoretic light scattering, (1)H NMR spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and cryogenic field-emission scanning electron microscopy. It was found that, in alkaline aqueous solutions, PHOS-PEO can form compact spherical nanoparticles whose size depends on the preparation protocol. Instead of a core/shell structure with segregated blocks, the PHOS-PEO nanoparticles have intermixed PHOS and PEO blocks due to hydrogen bond interaction between -OH groups of PHOS and oxygen atoms of PEO and are stabilized electrostatically by a fraction of ionized PHOS units on the surface.
