Abstract
Goniomitine is of the aspidosperma alkaloid family, with an angularly fused tetracyclic skeleton housing an all-carbon quaternary carbon chiral center alongside an aminal functional group. This natural product has garnered attention as a synthetic target due to its intriguing molecular architecture and anti-proliferative activity in recent years. Following the first synthesis of (-)-goniomitine by Takano in 1991, synthetic chemists have developed various methods. This review provides an overview of the methodologies used in the synthesis of goniomitine in racemic and enantiopure forms via divergent construction indole framework, indole functionalization, and the integrated oxidation/reduction/cyclization (iORC) sequence from 1991 to 2023.

Abstract
A chemoselective and metal/additive-free protocol for the synthesis of propargylic cyclic imine derivatives via (3 + 2)-cycloaddition of donor-acceptor cyclopropanes and alkynylnitriles in the presence of BF3·OEt2 has been established. The newly developed methodology provided access to a variety of propargylic cyclic imines in good to excellent yields. In addition, the synthesis of propargylic amines and the corresponding very stable enol derivatives from the title compound is also explored.

Abstract
Visible light induced singlet nucleophilic carbenes undergo rapid [2 + 1]-cycloaddition with tethered olefins to afford unique bicyclo[3.1.0]hexane and bicyclo[4.1.0]heptane scaffolds. This cyclopropanation process requires only visible light irradiation to proceed, circumventing the use of exogenous (photo)catalysts, sensitisers or additives and showcases a vastly underexplored mode of reactivity for nucleophilic carbenes in chemical synthesis. The discovery of additional transformations including a cyclopropanation/retro-Michael/Michael cascade process to afford chromanones and a photochemical C–H insertion reaction are also described. Visible light induced singlet nucleophilic carbenes undergo rapid [2 + 1]-cycloaddition with tethered olefins to afford unique bicyclo[3.1.0]hexane and bicyclo[4.1.0]heptane scaffolds.![]()

Abstract
Spiro[imidazol-5-one-4,1'-cyclopropanes] behave as donor-acceptor (D-A) cyclopropanes in a formal cycloaddition reaction with aldehydes. The activation of such type of cyclopropanes is achieved with an equivalent of Brønsted acid. The reaction proceeds in high yields of 51-92% and demonstrates moderate diastereoselectivity at the quaternary stereocenter, which is determined by the electron-donating nature of the aldehyde partner. The ease of separation of stereoisomers allowed the creation of a library of 44 spiroannulated tetrahydrofurans with various substitution patterns.

Abstract
An efficient diverse synthesis of cis-fused indenopiperidines and bridged benzomorphanones, starting from cyclopropane-fused benzomorphanothiones and benzomorphanones, respectively, using NaBH4/NiCl2·6H2O/EtOH as a reducing system, is described. High rigidity of substrates allowed axially controlled syntheses of their trans-mono-alkylated derivatives, subsequently enabling access to both trans-alkyl-functionalized benzobicyclic piperidin(on)es. Diversity-oriented synthesis of naphthalene ring-containing fused naphthoindenopiperidines and bridged naphthomorphanone directly from 2-pyridones was also performed.

Abstract
A large number of porphyrinoids containing 2,2'-bipyrrole subunits have appeared since they were originally found as a component of sapphyrin and corrole, and it was found that the bipyrrole subunit endowed macrocycles with specific geometric features and electronic properties. Synthetic methods for bipyrrole-containing precursors for porphyrinoid are summarized in this review; these include coupling reactions of pyrrole rings, pyrrole ring-forming reactions leading directly to bipyrrole units, and synthetic reactions for oligopyrrolic compounds. Some hybrid oligopyrroles having nonpyrrole (hetero)aromatic ring(s) are also included. This review also describes porphyrinoids composed of bipyrrole subunits. Interesting electronic properties derived from strong cyclo-π-conjugation are highlighted in the bipyrrole-based porphyrinoids with or without meso-like carbons. Anion-binding chemistry is one of the main topics for bipyrrole-based macrocycles with less efficient or deficient cyclo-π-conjugation, such as those linked with electronically localized aromatic ring(s), with sp3 carbon(s), and with amido or imine connection(s). The principal concern in this review is porphyrinoids of relatively large ring size, composed of more than five units of pyrroles and (hetero)aromatic substitutes in total, and so bipyrrole-based porphyrinoids up to five pyrrolic units, such as corroles, porphycenes, sapphyrins, and smaragdyrin, will not be covered here except for some special cases.

Abstract
Donor–acceptor (DA) cyclopropanes are extensively studied and well established as building blocks for the synthesis of highly substituted carbo- and heterocyclic compounds. Despite of similar ring strain, the homologous DA cyclobutanes were long ignored. This personal account details our group's research towards the application of DA cyclobutanes in cycloaddition chemistry.

Abstract
A rearrangement reaction of 1,2-cyclopropanated sugars with alkylamines or arylamines promoted by Zn(OTf)2 is described. The method offers a series of 3-polyhydroxyalkyl-substituted pyrrole derivatives with multiple chiral centers in moderate to excellent yields. The epimerization is achieved by inverting the stereochemistry at the free hydroxyl group of the resulting pyrrole, which would give access to many more possible stereoisomers.

Abstract
A novel organocatalytic activation mode of cyclopropanes is presented. The reaction concept is based on a design in which a reactive donor-acceptor cyclopropane intermediate is generated by in situ condensation of cyclopropylacetaldehydes with an aminocatalyst. The mechanism of this enamine-based activation of cyclopropylacetaldehydes is investigated by the application of a combined computational and experimental approach. The activation can be traced to a favorable orbital interaction between the π-orbital of the enamine and the σ*C-C orbital of the cyclopropyl ring. Furthermore, the synthetic potential of the developed system has been evaluated. By the application of a chiral secondary amine catalyst, the organocatalytically activated cyclopropanes show an unexpected and highly stereoselective formation of cyclobutanes, functionalizing at the usually inert sites of the donor-acceptor cyclopropane. By the application of 3-olefinic oxindoles and benzofuranone, biologically relevant spirocyclobutaneoxindoles and spirocyclobutanebenzofuranone can be obtained in good yields, high diastereomeric ratios, and excellent enantiomeric excesses. The mechanism of the reaction is discussed and two mechanistic proposals are presented.

Abstract
Furan-derived donor-acceptor-substituted cyclopropanes were reacted with Lawesson's reagent. Depending on the reaction conditions either bisthiophenes or unprecedented cage-like molecules were obtained. Woollins' reagent always led to the respective selenium-containing cage-like compounds.
