Abstract
We have developed a general process for the formation of enantioenriched benzylic stereocenters via stereospecific Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions of enantioenriched benzylic tricyclohexyltin nucleophiles. This process proceeds with excellent stereospecificity for a remarkably broad scope of electrophilic coupling partners including aryl and heteroaryl halides and triflates, acid chlorides, thioesters, chloroformates, and carbamoyl chlorides. Thus, enantioenriched 1,1-diarylalkanes as well as formal products of asymmetric enolate arylation are readily accessed using this approach. We additionally provide the first demonstration of a Sn-selective cross-coupling reaction using a vicinal alkylborylstannane nucleophile. In these reactions, the presence of cyclohexyl spectator ligands on tin is essential to ensure selective transfer of the secondary benzylic unit from tin to palladium.

Abstract
We have achieved the first anti-borylstannylation of alkynes by using (o-phenylenediaminato)borylstannanes. This reaction afforded 1-boryl-2-stannylalkenes with excellent regio- and stereoselectivity by a radical mechanism. This anti-addition manner is in sharp contrast to the syn-selectivity obtained during transition metal-catalyzed borylstannylation. The mild radical conditions enabled a broad substrate scope, and various types of aromatic and aliphatic alkynes were applicable. The origin of regio- and stereoselectivity was elucidated by DFT calculation of the reaction mechanism. The application of the borylstannylation products to cross- or homocoupling reactions provided ready access to either triarylethenes or bisborylbutadienes.

Abstract

While the formation
and breaking of transition metal (TM)–carbon
bonds plays a pivotal role in the catalysis of organic compounds,
the reactivity of inorganometallic species, that is, those involving
the transition metal (TM)–metalloid (E) bond, is of key importance
in most conversions of metalloid derivatives catalyzed by TM complexes.
This Review presents the background of inorganometallic catalysis
and its development over the last 15 years. The results of mechanistic
studies presented in the Review are related to the occurrence of TM–E
and TM–H compounds as reactive intermediates in the catalytic
transformations of selected metalloids (E = B, Si, Ge, Sn, As, Sb,
or Te). The Review illustrates the significance of inorganometallics
in catalysis of the following processes: addition of metalloid–hydrogen
and metalloid–metalloid bonds to unsaturated compounds; activation
and functionalization of C–H bonds and C–X bonds with
hydrometalloids and bismetalloids; activation and functionalization
of C–H bonds with vinylmetalloids, metalloid halides, and sulfonates;
and dehydrocoupling of hydrometalloids. This first Review on inorganometallic
catalysis sums up the developments in the catalytic methods for the
synthesis of organometalloid compounds and their applications in advanced
organic synthesis as a part of tandem reactions.

Abstract
Chitosan/magnesia hybrid films (CS-Mg) have been prepared via sol-gel process and employed as heterogeneous catalysts. An in situ generation of a magnesia network in the chitosan matrix was performed through hydrolysis/condensation reactions of magnesium ethoxide. The synthesized hybrid films were characterized using various analytical techniques, such as X-ray photo-electron spectroscopy (XPS), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The hybrid films display excellent catalytic activities in Michael and Knoevenagel reactions via one pot or solvent-free approaches under microwave irradiation conditions. Chitosan/magnesia hybrid films, catalysed pyrimidine, benzochromene, coumarin and arylidene-malononitriles derivatives formation reactions occurred with highly efficient yields of 97%, 92%, 86% and 95% respectively. Due to the fact that the films are durable and insoluble in common organic solvents, they were easily separated and can be recycled up to five times without a considerable loss of their catalytic activity.

Abstract
A copper complex has proven to be a potent catalyst for forming a C-B bond via diborylation of arynes and alkynes, affording vic-diborylarenes and vic-diborylalkenes with high efficiency. A boryl-substituted organocopper species, which is intermediately generated in the diborylation, has been found to be captured by a tin or a carbon electrophile, leading to three-component borylstannylation or carboboration, in which C-B and C-Sn (or C) bonds are constructed simultaneously. Furthermore, reducing the Lewis acidity of the boron center with 1,8-diaminonaphthalene decisively alters the regiochemical behavior of the borylcopper species, enabling the installation of a boryl moiety to occur at an internal carbon of terminal alkynes in borylstannylation and protoboration. Copper catalysis for C-Sn and C-Si bond-forming processes via distannylation, hydrostannylation and silylstannylation, as well as silver catalysis for a C-B bond-forming reaction, is also described.

Abstract
In summary, a first copper-catalyzed synthesis of α-aryl-β-borylstannane compounds was accomplished through three-component borylstannation of aryl-substituted alkenes. In the exploration of an asymmetric variant, chiral sulfinylphosphine ligands proved advantageous in controlling stereochemistry of B-Cu addition and in promoting transmetalation of enantioenriched alkyl-Cu species. The stereochemical outcome supported a sequential syn-borylcupration and configuration-retentive transmetalation mechanism. Moreover, α-chiral β-borylstannanes were easily transformed into a diverse array of secondary alkylstannanes and triarylethane with high enantiomeric purity. The applications of chiral sulfinylphosphine ligands to other tandem Cu-B addition reactions are currently under investigation in our group.

Abstract
Masked boryl and stannyl moieties are smoothly installed into a carbon–carbon triple bond of diverse terminal alkynes under copper catalysis to provide cis-boryl(stannyl)alkenes in a straightforward manner. The regioselectivity is totally inverted to those of the previous borylstannylations, where a masked boryl moiety is attached to an internal carbon of alkynes.

Abstract
The synthesis of phosphinoboronate esters containing a single P-B bond is reported, together with preliminary reactivity studies towards a range of organic substrates. These compounds add readily to aldehydes, ketones, aldimines, and α,β-unsaturated enones to give primarily the corresponding 1,2-addition products containing a new P-C bond. The first examples of transition-metal-catalyzed phosphinoborations of C-C multiple bonds in which P-C and B-C bonds are formed in a single step are also disclosed; allenes react by a highly regioselective 1,2-addition whereas terminal alkynes undergo a formal 1,1-addition.

Abstract
Hail boration! 2-Dimethylaminopyridine-ligated dihaloborocations [X2B(2-DMAP)](+) with a strained four-membered boracycle were used for the haloboration of terminal and dialkyl internal alkynes (see scheme). Esterification then provided vinyl boronate esters as useful precursors to tetrasubstituted alkenes. Following mechanistic studies, the scope of the haloboration was expanded simply by variation of the amine. Pin = 2,3-dimethyl-2,3-butanedioxy.

Abstract
A new thiophene building block, containing both a stannyl group and a boronic ester, was prepared. From this starting material, a general, nucleophile-selective one-pot reaction was developed, exploiting the different reactivities of the Stille and Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions. A series of aromatic electrophiles were used to demonstrate the high functional group tolerance.
