Abstract
In this work, we present a strategy for the preparation of functionalized 4H-chromene derivatives via a Cs2CO3-catalyzed [4 + 2] cycloaddition of enantiopure chiral salicyl N-phosphonyl imines with allenoates. Fifteen examples were achieved in excellent yields and diastereoselectivity. The products were purified simply by washing the crude mixture with hexanes following the Group-Assisted Purification (GAP) chemistry/technology to bypass traditional separation methods. The absolute configuration was unambiguously determined by X-ray structure analysis. A new asymmetric method for the synthesis of highly functionalized 4H-chromenes was developed via Group-Assisted Purification (GAP) chemistry and shown in good to high yield and excellent diastereoselectivity.![]()

Abstract
The DABCO-catalyzed [3 + 3] annulation between 3-nitro-2H-chromenes and benzyl 2,3-butadienoate has been developed as a route to 5H-chromeno[3,4-b]pyridine derivatives. Under optimal reaction conditions, 5H-chromeno[3,4-b]pyridines incorporating two allenoate units were obtained in moderate to good yields (30-76%). The same type of transformation could be carried out using butynoates as allene surrogates. Mechanistic studies by mass spectrometry allowed the identification of the key intermediates involved in the reaction mechanism. The reported synthetic methodology represents an entirely new approach for the synthesis of the 5H-chromeno[3,4-b]pyridine core structure based on allene chemistry.

Abstract
Herein, a simple, efficient ratiometric chemosensor was reported for the selective sensing of Pb2+ and F- ions using thiophene functionalized hydrazone as a chemical probe. Hydrazone moiety was developed by utilizing thiophene/naphthalene as a platform for the particular recognition of cation and anion. The structures of the precursor (Z)-(1-(5-bromothiophen-2-yl)ethylidene)hydrazine (ABTH) and the final probe 1-((Z)-(((Z)-1-(5-bromothiophen-2-yl)ethylidene)hydrazono)methyl)naphthalen-2-ol (NAPABTH) were confirmed by 1H, 13C-NMR and LC-MS spectroscopic methods. The interaction of NAPABTH with Pb2+ and F- ions was visually observed by the formation of pink and dark yellow solutions, respectively. The detection limits were found to be very low for Pb2+ as 1.06 ppm and for F- ions as 3.72 nM. This visual detection of Pb2+/F- ions with satisfactory outcomes obtained from UV-Vis titrations. The sensing mechanistic pathways and stoichiometric ratios were obtained from DFT and Job's plot, respectively. The observed results are highly promising as highly selective chemosensor with lower detection limits for Pb2+ and F- ions. This strategy could exhibit tremendous applications for the selective sensing of heavy metal cations with rapid sensitivity for the design of new devices.

Abstract
A highly chemo- and regioselective [4 + 2] formal cycloaddition of (Z)-3-iodo allylic nucleophiles and allenamides catalyzed by palladium is reported. The methodology proceeds under mild reaction conditions and is tolerant of alkyl and aryl functional groups. The SN2' substitution at the proximal C[double bond, length as m-dash]C bond performed against the Heck or SN2 pathway delivered a variety of 2-amino-dihydropyrans and 2-amino-tetrahydropiperidines in moderate to satisfactory yields. The [4 + 2] formal cycloaddition derivatives are convertible to interesting scaffolds 2,6,7,7a-tetrahydropyrano[2,3-b]pyrrole and 2,6,7,7a-tetrahydro-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine derivatives via ring-closing metathesis (RCM) with Grubbs catalyst II.

Abstract
An efficient organocatalytic reaction using 1,3-nitro enynes with 4-hydroxycoumarin and 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-2-pyrone to afford pyrano-annulated scaffolds in high yield (up to 88% yield) and excellent stereoselectivities (up to >20:1 dr and >99% ee) is described. The reaction proceeded through sequential conjugate addition, allene formation, intramolecular oxa-Michael 6-endo-dig cyclization and DABCO-catalyzed olefin isomerization. A kinetic profile for isomerization was established. The mechanism for the organocascade reaction was proposed according to requisite computational and mechanistic experimental studies.

Abstract
The chemoselective [4+2] vs. [2+2] cycloaddition between allenoates and dithioesters can be controlled by switching the nucleophilic amine catalyst. The two modes of cyclizations represent the first example of controllable and chemoselective annulations between allenoates and dienophiles catalyzed by amine. These cyclizations are useful in offering a divergent synthesis of sulfur-containing heterocycles. On the basis of this investigation, it can be realized that dithioesters with a vicinal electron-withdrawing group can react not only like a Michael acceptor but also as a ketone or imine.

Abstract
A highly enantioselective [4+2] annulation with respect to allenoates and 3-olefinic oxindoles catalyzed by Lewis base was reported, which proved to be an efficient way to synthesize chiral dihydropyran-fused indoles. The cycloaddition products were generally obtained in high yields (up to 98%) with very good enantioselectivities (up to 94% enantiomeric excess).

Abstract
DABCO-catalyzed [4 + 2] and Bu(3)P-catalyzed [3 + 2] cycloadditions between 3-acyl-2H-chromen-ones and ethyl 2,3-butadienoate were developed for the synthesis of dihydropyran-fused and cyclopenten-fused chromen-2-ones with high regio- and stereo-selectivities, respectively. The synthetic procedures have the advantages of mild reaction conditions, convenient handling and good atom economy as well as a wide substrate scope, which make this method useful for the synthesis of potentially biologically active dihydropyran-fused and cyclopenten-fused chromen-2-ones derivatives. Possible reaction mechanisms have also been proposed on the basis of previous literature and our investigation.

Abstract
Lewis base-catalyzed cyclization reactions of allenoates with electron-deficient olefins and imines have been demonstrated by the preparation of biologically active natural products and pharmaceutically interesting substances and have emerged as powerful synthetic tools in the rapid construction of cyclic molecular complexity. In contrast to phosphine-containing Lewis bases, nitrogen-containing Lewis base amines display markedly different reaction profiles; however, this area is not well-developed. Herein we summarize the recent progress in this emerging field and outline the challenges ahead.
