Abstract
An efficient three-component cycloaddition of oxa(aza)bicyclic alkenes/norbornene in the presence of NaN3 and arylsulfonyl chlorides was developed, affording the corresponding aziridine products in good yields (up to 82%) with moderate to good endo/exo selectivities (up to >99:1 endo/exo). Further studies showed that the cycloaddition of oxa(aza)bicyclic alkenes in the presence of NaN3 and chloroalkanes could afford the exo-cycloadduct 1,2,3-triazolines in good to excellent yields (up to 95%). Compared with the existing methodologies, the current protocol demands very simple and mild reaction conditions and is a metal-free catalyzed reaction. In addition, a plausible mechanism for the cycloaddition reaction was also proposed.

Abstract
The heterobicyclic core retained hydroarylation of oxa/azabenzonorbornadienes with quinoline N-oxides has been achieved under rhodium catalysis, giving quinoline N-oxide substituted heterobicyclic structures with excellent regioselectivity and in good yields. As the first example of the direct introduction of quinoline N-oxides onto heterobicyclic structures, the strained heterobicyclic core was well retained in the reaction. The products could be successfully transformed into a series of useful compounds, including epibatidine analogues.

Abstract
Heterocyclic arynes have long been targeted as potential tools for the synthesis of substituted heterocycles. Recent advances have led to an improved understanding of the factors that determine regioselectivity in reactions of these strained intermediates and, in turn, the aryne distortion model. This paper highlights the use of this predictive model to enable the use of heterocyclic arynes, such as indolynes and pyridynes, in chemical synthesis.

Abstract
We report the total syntheses of (-)-indolactam V and the C7-substituted indolactam alkaloids (-)-pendolmycin, (-)-lyngbyatoxin A, and (-)-teleocidin A-2. The strategy for preparing indolactam V relies on a distortion-controlled indolyne functionalization reaction to establish the C4-N linkage, in addition to an intramolecular conjugate addition to build the conformationally-flexible nine-membered ring. The total synthesis of indolactam V then sets the stage for the divergent synthesis of the other targeted alkaloids. Specifically, late-stage sp2-sp3 cross-couplings on an indolactam V derivative are used to introduce the key C7 substituents and the necessary quaternary carbons. These challenging couplings, in addition to other delicate manipulations, all proceed in the presence of a basic tertiary amine, an unprotected secondary amide, and an unprotected indole. Thus, our approach not only enables the enantiospecific total syntheses of four indolactam alkaloids, but also serves as a platform for probing complexity-generating and chemoselective transformations in the context of alkaloid total synthesis.

Abstract
2-Ethoxy-3- and 5-chloropyridines were obtained from 2,3- and 2,5-dichloropyridine. Reaction of 2,3- and 2,5-dichlo-ropyridines with tBuLi in the presence of furan gave 1- and 3-ethoxy-5,8-epoxy-5,8-dihydroisoquinolines. The rhodium-catalysed ring-opening reaction of 1- and 3-ethoxy-5,8-epoxy-5,8-dihydroisoquinolines with 2-bromophenol furnished the isomer 7-(2-bromophenoxy)-1-ethoxy-7,8-dihydroisoquinolin-8-ol, 6-(2-bromophenoxy)-1-ethoxy-5,6-dihydroisoquinolin-5-ol and 7-(2-bromophenoxy)-3-ethoxy-7,8-dihydroisoquinolin-8-ol, 6-(2-bromophenoxy)-3-ethoxy-5,6-dihydroisoquinolin-5-ol respectively.

Abstract
We report the first total synthesis of (-)-N-methylwelwitindolinone C isothiocyanate. Our route features a number of key transformations, including an indolyne cyclization to assemble the [4.3.1]-bicyclic scaffold, as well as a late-stage intramolecular nitrene insertion to functionalize the C11 bridgehead carbon en route to the natural product.

Abstract
The construction of an unprecedented class of an indole-based library, namely, a 6,7-annulated-4-substituted 93-member indole library, using a strategic combination of 6,7-indolyne cycloaddition and cross-coupling reactions under both Suzuki-Miyaura and Buchwald-Hartwig conditions is described. This work represents the first example of library development that employs the indole aryne methodology. Annulated indoles, with the exception of only a few biologically active natural products (i.e., the trikentrins, herbindoles, teleocidins, and nodulisporic acids), have no representation in the PubChem or MLSMR databases. These structural entities are therefore predicted to have unique chemical property space characteristics and a high probability of exhibiting interesting biological activity.
