Abstract
A highly enantioselective vinylogous Mukaiyama aldol reaction to ketoesters catalysed by a hydrogen-bond-donor-based bifunctional organocatalyst is presented. The addition of silyloxy dienol ether gives rise to multifunctional chiral tertiary alcohols bearing a versatile α,β-unsaturated aldehyde with excellent enantiocontrol.

Abstract
An efficient direct aldol reaction between coumaran-3-ones and β, γ-unsaturated α-ketoesters by virtue of a chiral copper complex is developed. A series of coumaran-3-one derivatives containing chiral tertiary alcohol structures are obtained in excellent yields and stereoselectivities.

Abstract
The first organocatalytic asymmetric Michael addition of 5H-oxazol-4-ones to nitroolefins has been developed. In the presence of easily prepared L-tert-leucine-derived tertiary amine/thiourea catalyst, the Michael addition of 5H-oxazol-4-ones to nitroolefins proceeded in an excellent diastereo- and enantioselective manner (up to 99% ee and >19:1 dr). The Michael adducts obtained are valuable precursors for the synthesis of chiral α-alkyl-α-hydroxy carboxylic acid derivatives, which represent a series of versatile building blocks in many biologically active compounds.

Abstract
A novel synthetic strategy toward the asymmetric synthesis of vicinal diols bearing a tertiary center is presented. The method encompasses the dinuclear Mg-catalyzed asymmetric addition of ethyl diazoacetate into several aldehydes, oxidation of the diazo functionality, and diastereoselective alkyl transfer of various organometallics into the resulting chiral β-hydroxy-α-ketoesters to afford a diverse range of 1,2-diols in high yield, diastereoselectivity, and chirality transfer.
