Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed carbohalogenation of olefins with alkynyl oxime ethers has been described, which provides efficient and practical access to various chlorine-containing isoxazoles. This method exhibits excellent regioselectivity, good functional group compatibility, and mild reaction conditions. The mechanistic studies suggest that the reaction proceeds via a stabilized π-benzyl palladium intermediate, which is essential for the formation of C(sp3)-Cl bonds.

Abstract
A Lewis-base-catalyzed three-component electrophilic thiofunctionalization of cyclopropene with phenol is developed to furnish various trisubstituted chromanes in high trans-diasteroselectivity. This metal-free protocol is easy to scale-up, offers a unique 2,2,3-substitution pattern, and delivers chromanes with diversified core substitution patterns. The unprecedented tolerance of strong electron-withdrawing substituents at the phenol renders the protocol indispensable to access the otherwise inaccessible chromane chemical space that is important for medicinal chemistry campaigns.

An Approach toward 17-Arylsubstituted Marginatafuran-Type Isospongian Diterpenoids via a Palladium-Catalyzed Heck-Suzuki Cascade Reaction of 16-Bromolambertianic Acid. Abstract
Isospongian diterpenes are a small but growing family of natural tetracyclic secondary metabolites isolated from marine organisms, primarily sponges and nudibranchs. A palladium-catalyzed domino Heck–Suzuki reaction sequence for the synthesis of the tetracyclic skeleton of marginatafuran-type isospongian diterpenoids with a wide variety of substituents in the C-17 position is reported. The proposed approach was based on selective transformations of the accessible plant diterpenoid lambertianic acid and includes an intramolecular Heck reaction of 16-bromolambertianic and arylation of the palladium intermediate with arylboronic acid. The influence of the nature of the substituent both in arylboronic acids and in the furan ring of 16-bromolambertianic acid on the direction and chemoselectivity of the reaction has been studied. The described derivatization of natural furanolabdanoid lambertianic acid produced new functionalized molecules for biological study and gave novel insights into the reactivity of complex molecular structures.

Abstract
The Mizoroki-Heck reaction and its reductive analogue are staples of organic synthesis, but the ensuing products often lack a chemical handle for further transformation. Here we report an atom-economical cross-coupling of halopyridines and unactivated alkenes under photoredox catalysis to afford a series of alkene halopyridylation products. This protocol with mild and redox neutral conditions contributes broad substrate scope. As a complement to conventional Heck-type reaction, this radical process avoids the involvement of β-H elimination and thus useful pyridyl and halide groups could be simultaneously and regioselectively incorporated onto alkenes. The success depends on TFA-promoted domino photocatalytic oxidative quenching activation and radical-polar crossover pathway. Plausible mechanism is proposed based on mechanistic investigations. Moreover, the reserved C - X bonds of these products are beneficial for performing further synthetic elaborations.

Abstract
A method for the catalytic, enantioselective, carbosulfenylation of alkenes to construct 3,4-disubstituted chromans is described. Alkene activation proceeds through the intermediacy of enantioenriched, configurationally stable thiiranium ions generated from catalytic, Lewis base activation of an electrophilic sulfenylating agent. The transformation affords difficult-to-generate, enantioenriched, 3,4-disubstituted chromans in moderate to high yields and excellent enantioselectivities. A variety of substituents are compatible including electronically diverse functional groups as well as several functional handles such as aryl halides, esters, anilines, and phenols. The resulting thioether moiety is amenable to a number of functional group manipulations and transformations. Notably, the pendant sulfide was successfully cleaved to furnish a free thiol which readily provides access to most sulfur-containing functional groups which are present in natural products and pharmaceuticals.

Abstract
The palladium-catalyzed 1,1-alkynylbromination of terminal alkenes with a silyl-protected alkynyl bromide is reported. The method tolerates a diverse range of alkenes including vinylarenes, acrylates, and even electronically unbiased alkene derivatives to afford propargylic bromides regioselectively. Mechanistic studies and DFT calculations indicate that the 1,1-alkynylbromination reaction proceeds via the migration of the Pd center followed by the formation of a π-allenyl Pd intermediate, leading to the stereoselective reductive elimination of the C(sp3)–Br bond at the propargylic positon. The first Pd-catalyzed 1,1-alkynylbromination of terminal alkenes using alkynyl bromides, which provides direct access to a variety of functionalized propargylic bromides without the need for an external brominating reagent, is reported.![]()

Abstract
In the presence of dioxygen, an antimony trichloride enabled conjunctive sp3 C-H bond functionalization and carbochlorination of glycines was realized, providing a series of chlorinated quinolines in high yields. The mechanistic study shows that the antimony(V) species might be involved in the oxidation of the sp3 C-H bond and is followed by carbochlorination through a radical intermediate.

Abstract
Supported catalysts are important tools for developing green-economy-based processes. Palladium nanoparticles (NPs) that are immobilized on two fibers developed as metal scavengers (i.e., Smopex®-234 and Smopex®-111, 1% w/w) have been prepared and tested in copper-free cyclocarbonylative Sonogashira reactions. Their catalytic activity has been compared with that of a homogeneous catalyst (i.e., PdCl2(PPh3)2). Pd/Smopex®-234 showed high activity and selectivity in the synthesis of functionalized heterocycles, such as phthalans and isochromans, even when working with a very low amount of palladium (0.2–0.5 mol%). The extension of Pd/Smopex®-234 promoted cyclocarbonylative reactions to propargyl and homopropargyl amides afforded the corresponding isoindoline and dihydrobenzazepine derivatives. A preliminary test on Pd NPs leaching into the solution (1.7 × 10−3 mg) seems to indicate that, at the end of the reaction, almost all of the active metal is present on the fiber surface.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed enantioselective intramolecular σ-bond cross-exchange between C-I and C-C bonds is realized, providing chiral indanones bearing an alkyl iodide group and an all-carbon quaternary stereocenter. Pd/TADDOL-derived phosphoramidite is found to be an efficient catalytic system for both C-C bond cleavage and alkyl iodide reductive elimination. In addition to aryl iodides, aryl bromides can also be used for this transformation in the presence of KI. Density-functional theory (DFT) calculation studies support the ring-opening of cyclobutanones occuring through an oxidative addition/reductive elimination process involving PdIV species.

Abstract
A novel nickel-catalyzed cycloisomerization reaction forming a new carbon-carbon bond while preserving the carbon-halogen bond has been developed. A cheap and readily available Ni-catalyst is employed to generate nitrogen containing heterocycles in good to excellent yields and the procedure is readily scalable. The more readily available aryl bromides were also cyclized with the addition of potassium iodide to generate the respective alkyl iodides. A rare dual ligand system employing a bisphosphine and bisphosphine monoxide was used to achieve enantioenriched products.

Abstract
A novel mild, visible-light-induced palladium-catalyzed hydrogen atom translocation/atom-transfer radical cyclization (HAT/ATRC) cascade has been developed. This protocol involves a 1,5-HAT process of previously unknown hybrid vinyl palladium radical intermediates, thus leading to iodomethyl carbo- and heterocyclic structures.

Abstract
The catalytic, enantioselective, cyclization of phenols with electrophilic sulfenophthalimides onto isolated or conjugated alkenes affords 2,3-disubstituted benzopyrans and benzoxepins. The reaction is catalyzed by a BINAM-based phosphoramide Lewis base catalyst which assists in the highly enantioselective formation of a thiiranium ion intermediate. The influence of nucleophile electron density, alkene substitution pattern, tether length and Lewis base functional groups on the rate, enantio- and site-selectivity for the cyclization is investigated. The reaction is not affected by the presence of substituents on the phenol ring. In contrast, substitutions around the alkene strongly affect the reaction outcome. Sequential lengthening of the tether results in decreased reactivity, which necessitated increased temperatures for reaction to occur. Sterically bulky aryl groups on the sulfenyl moiety prevented erosion of enantiomeric composition at these elevated temperatures. Alcohols and carboxylic acids preferentially captured thiiranium ions in competition with phenolic hydroxyl groups. An improved method for the selective C(2) allylation of phenols is also described.

Abstract
Diverse and controllable pathways induced by palladium-catalyzed intramolecular Heck reaction of N-vinylacetamides for the synthesis of nitrogen-containing products in reasonable to high yields via tuning the phosphine ligands and bases are reported. Domino reactions including unique β-N-Pd elimination, 1,4-Pd migration, or direct acyl C-H bond functionalization were found to be involved forming different products, respectively. Given the ability of using the same starting material to generate diverse products via completely different chemoselective processes, these current methodologies offer straightforward access to valuable nitrogen-containing products under mild reaction conditions as well as inspire the discovery of novel reactions.
