Abstract
A racemic approach towards the synthesis of the ABC (7/7/5) ring system of Schisandra triterpenoid kadlongilactones is described. The synthesis features two key transformations: (1) conjugate addition followed by iodolactonization to build the cis-fused 7/7 ring; and (2) conjugate addition-Rubottom oxidation cascade followed by ring-closing metathesis to construct the 7/7/5 tricyclic ring.

Abstract
Natural products are the most effective source of potential drug leads. The total
synthesis of bioactive natural products plays a crucial role in confirming the hypothetical
complex structure of natural products in the laboratory. The total synthesis of rare bioactive
natural products is one of the great challenges for the organic synthetic community due to
their complex structures, biochemical specificity, and difficult stereochemistry. Subsequently,
the total synthesis is a long process in several cases, and it requires a substantial amount of
time. Microwave irradiation has emerged as a greener tool in organic methodologies to reduce
reaction time from days and hours to minutes and seconds. Moreover, this non-classical
methodology increases product yields and purities, improves reproducibility, modifications of
selectivity, simplification of work-up methods, and reduces unwanted side reactions. Such
beneficial qualities have stimulated this review to cover the application of microwave irradiation in the field of the
total synthesis of bioactive natural products for the first time during the last decade. An overview of the use of microwave
irradiation, natural sources, structures, and biological activities of secondary metabolites is presented elegantly,
focusing on the involvement of at least one or more steps by microwave irradiation as a green technique.

Abstract
A highly convergent strategy for the synthesis of the natural product (-)-rubriflordilactone B, and the proposed structure of (-)-pseudo-rubriflordilactone B, is described. Late stage coupling of diynes containing the respective natural product FG rings with a common AB ring aldehyde precedes rhodium-catalyzed [2+2+2] alkyne cyclotrimerization to form the natural product skeleton, with the syntheses completed in just one further operation. This work resolves the uncertainty surrounding the identity of pseudo-rubriflordilactone B and provides a robust platform for further synthetic and biological investigations.

Abstract
An intramolecular cascade reaction consisting of a formal anti-carbopalladation terminated by the ring-opening of a cyclopropanol unit is presented. The products, which involve tetrasubstituted alkene units embedded in an oligocyclic ring system, are generated in moderate to excellent yield. The opening of the cyclopropanol unit leads to a keto group in the γ-position to the emerging double bond.

Abstract
Full details of the total synthesis of the Schisandraceae nortriterpenoid natural product rubriflordilactone A are reported. Palladium- and cobalt-catalyzed polycyclizations were employed as key strategies to construct the central pentasubstituted arene from bromoendiyne and triyne precursors. This required the independent assembly of two AB ring aldehydes for combination with a common diyne component. A number of model systems were explored to investigate these two methodologies, and also to establish routes for the installation of the challenging benzopyran and butenolide rings.

Abstract
The total synthesis of (±)-allocolchicine has been completed by employing cobalt-catalyzed alkyne [2 + 2 + 2]-cyclotrimerization as the key reaction. The essential diyne has been synthesized from easily available 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde following simple chemical transformations. In general, the cycloaddition gave a mixture of C(9) and C(10) isomers thus allowing the synthesis of both allocolchicine and its C(10)-carboxylate. Because this cycloaddition was employed at the penultimate stage, it allowed the synthesis of various analogues having the diverse functionality at C(9) and/or C(10) of ring C.

Abstract
The mechanism of the oxidation of arylsilanes to phenols has been investigated using 19F NMR spectroscopy. The formation of silanols in these reactions results from a rapid background equilibrium between silanol and alkoxysilane; the relative rates of reaction of these species was evaluated by modeling of concentration profiles obtained through 19F NMR spectroscopic reaction monitoring. Combining these results with a study of initial rates of phenol formation, and of substituent electronic effects, a mechanistic picture involving rapid and reversible formation of a pentavalent peroxide ate complex, prior to rate-limiting aryl migration, has evolved.

Abstract
Alkynes are one of the most versatile functional groups as synthetic handles. They allow for a direct access to partially or fully substituted alkenes through difunctionalization reactions. A prominently utilized transformation for these sequences is the carbopalladation of alkynes, which can be followed by various termination steps such as aromatizations, dearomatizations, cross-coupling reactions, or pericyclic processes, amongst others. This Minireview provides an overview of the recent literature published in the field of carbopalladation chemistry, both with a focus on methodology as well as its application in the syntheses of complex molecular scaffolds, natural products, and functional molecules.

Abstract
Two enantioselective total syntheses of the nortriterpenoid natural product rubriflordilactone A are described, which use palladium- or cobalt-catalyzed cyclizations to form the CDE rings, and converge on a late-stage synthetic intermediate. These key processes are set up through the convergent coupling of a common diyne component with appropriate AB-ring aldehydes, a strategy that sets the stage for the synthetic exploration of other members of this family of natural products.

Abstract
Six new lanostane-related triterpenoids, kadcoccinones A-F (1-6), were isolated from Kadsura coccinea. Compound 3 possesses a novel 6/6/9-fused carbocyclic core containing a rare oxabicyclo[4.3.1]decane system. Compounds 4 and 5 are isomers representing the first example of the 18(13 → 12)-abeo-26-norlanostane triterpenoid. The absolute configurations of 1 and 4-6 were defined by X-ray diffraction and experimental ECD spectra, and that of 3 was elucidated by quantum chemical calculations. The plausible biogenetic pathway of 1-6 is postulated.

Abstract
A synthesis of anthracycline aglycone derivatives is described. The key step utilizes a powerful domino carbopalladation approach and subsequent ring closure. During this process two of the four rings of the anthracycline scaffold are formed. Differently substituted carbohydrates and dialkyne chains serve as versatile and simple starting materials for the reaction sequence. Diverse building blocks lead to a variety of different products and a broad range of structural diversity.

Abstract
A new class of highly oxygenated Schisandra nortriterpenoids, lancolides A-D (1-4), from Schisandra lancifolia, represents the first example of natural products that possess a tricyclo[6.3.0.0(2,11)]undecane-bridged system. Their structures were elucidated by NMR spectra, X-ray diffraction, and quantum chemical calculations. Lancolides A (1) and D (4) had specific antiplatelet aggregation induced by platelet-activating factor (PAF).
