Abstract
A novel oxidative (3 + 3) cycloaddition/ring-opening reaction of N,N'-cyclic azomethine imines with the in situ generated diaza-oxylallyl cations from simple urea derivatives in the presence of base and PhI(OAc)2 has been developed. This transformation performs well over a broad substrate scope, which provides facile and rapid access to 1,2,3,5-tetrazine-4(1H)-one derivatives in good yields.

Abstract
Magnesium(II)-catalyzed cascade reactions of N,N'-cyclic azomethine imines with indolyl-substituted isocyanides are reported herein. The method exhibited a high functional group tolerance and broad substrate scope. A series of anti-pentacyclic spiroindolines containing N,N'-fused heterocycle skeletons were obtained in up to 82% yield with 8.5:1 dr under mild reaction conditions. Intriguingly, a sequential HOAc-mediated protonation results in a diastereoenriched epimerization, which gives rise to the syn-pentacyclic spiroindolines as the sole isomers.

Abstract
An array of chiral [1,2,4]triazino[5,4-a]isoquinoline derivatives were obtained in excellent yields (up to 98%) and with excellent enantioselectivities (up to 99% ee) via a new highly asymmetric (3 + 3) cycloaddition reaction of diazo compounds and isoquinolinium methylides, with a bifunctional chiral phase-transfer catalyst (PTC). Density functional theory calculations show that PTC has a bridge role in the deprotonation/protonation process. The obtained products were transformed into densely functionalized polycyclic heterocompounds with multiple stereocenters.

Abstract
A straightforward synthesis of original 1,6-diazabicyclo[4.3.0]nonane-2,7-diones was achieved through a DBU-organocatalyzed multicomponent Knoevenagel-aza-Michael-Cyclocondensation reaction which takes advantage of an unprecedented highly regio- and diastereoselective conjugate addition of pyridazinones to alkylidene Meldrum's acid intermediates. The key reactive intermediates of this complex process were analyzed by means of electrospray ionization mass spectrometry coupled to ion mobility spectrometry, allowing us to validate the proposed mechanism.

Abstract
An unusual [2 + 3] cycloaddition of isatin azomethine imines (AIs) and in situ generated azaoxyallyl cations has been developed. It is the first example where AIs serve as the [C,O] 2-atom synthon in organic synthesis. This work not only reveals a new role of isatin AIs in cycloaddition reaction but also provides an efficient access to unprecedented spiroheterocycle compounds.

Abstract
A Brønsted acid-catalyzed (4 + 3) cyclization of N, N'-cyclic azomethine imines with isatoic anhydrides has been discovered, which constructs seven-membered nitrogenous heterocyclic frameworks with overall high yields (up to 98% yield). This reaction represents a rarely reported (4 + 3) cyclization of N, N'-cyclic azomethine imines, which involves the reassembly of a C-N bond. In addition, this reaction has also accomplished the unprecedented (4 + 3) cyclization of isatoic anhydrides.

Abstract
A catalyst-free self-catalyzed [3+2] cycloaddition reaction of isatin-derived α-(trifluoromethyl)imines with vinylpyridines is reported. The reaction offers a straightforward and atom-economical procedure for the preparation of a series of 5'-trifluoromethyl-spiro[pyrrolidin-3,2'-oxindoles] in excellent yields and diastereoselectivities. The reaction mechanism has been investigated by control experiments, DFT calculation of pKa values and the kinetic profiles, revealing that this reaction featured the mutual activation between isatin-derived α-(trifluoromethyl)imines and vinylpyridine to generate the reactive species.

Abstract
A novel cinchona-alkaloid-derived organocatalyst has been developed to catalyze the asymmetric regioselective [3+2] cycloaddition of 3-isothiocyanato oxindoles with dibenzylidene ketones. A series of spirooxindole enols could be obtained in high yields with good-to-excellent diastereo- and enantioselectivities.

Abstract
Azomethine imines are considered 1,3-dipoles of the aza-allyl type which are transient intermediates and should be generated in situ but can also be stable and isolable compounds. They react with electron-rich and electron-poor olefins as well as with acetylenic compounds and allenoates mainly by a [3 + 2] cycloaddition but they can also take part in [3 + 3], [4 + 3], [3 + 2 + 2] and [5 + 3] with different dipolarophiles. These 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions (1,3-DC) can be performed not only under thermal or microwave conditions but also using metallo- and organocatalytic systems. In recent years enantiocatalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions have been extensively considered and applied to the synthesis of a great variety of dinitrogenated heterocycles with biological activity. Acyclic azomethine imines derived from mono and disubstituted hydrazones could be generated by prototropy under heating or by using Lewis or Brønsted acids to give, after [3 + 2] cycloadditions, pyrazolidines and pyrazolines. Cyclic azomethine imines, incorporating a C-N bond in a ring, such as isoquinolinium imides are the most widely used dipoles in normal and inverse-electron demand 1,3-DC allowing the synthesis of tetrahydro-, dihydro- and unsaturated pyrazolo[1,5-a]isoquinolines in racemic and enantioenriched forms with interesting biological activity. Pyridinium and quinolinium imides give the corresponding pyrazolopyridines and indazolo[3,2-a]isoquinolines, respectively. In the case of cyclic azomethine imines with an N-N bond incorporated into a ring, N-alkylidene-3-oxo-pyrazolidinium ylides are the most popular stable and isolated dipoles able to form dinitrogen-fused saturated and unsaturated pyrazolopyrazolones as racemic or enantiomerically enriched compounds present in many pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and other useful chemicals.
