Abstract
α-Allenol is a versatile synthon in organic synthesis. The catalytic asymmetric synthesis of α-allenols from readily available starting materials remains a prominent challenge, especially when simultaneous control over axial and central chirality is required. Herein, we describe the Cr-catalyzed enantioconvergent allenylation of aldehydes with racemic propargyl halides to rapidly access a wide range of chiral α-allenols with adjacent axial and central chiralities. This method features excellent regio-, diastereo- and enantioselectivity control with broad substrate scope, and provides facile access to all four stereoisomers when allied with a Mitsunobu reaction. Preliminary mechanistic studies support radical-based reaction pathways. The synthetic utility is demonstrated by the application in late-stage functionalization and the formal total synthesis of (+)-varitriol.

Abstract
Organometallic moieties attached to substrates via π-complexation play an important role as auxiliaries. As described in the present review, η-linked auxiliaries have been employed to overcome numerous synthesis obstacles that continue to present significant challenges for catalyzed reactions. This has been particularly true in carbon-carbon bond forming reactions involving highly unsaturated systems such as arenes, dienes and allenes, which are emphasized here.

Abstract
In the attempt to synthesize substituted allenyl esters through a metathesis coupling of unsubstituted allenyl esters and alkenes using a variety of ruthenium catalysts, it was discovered that allenyl esters themselves cleanly arrested the activity of the catalysts. Further studies suggests possible utility of allene esters as general quenching agents for metathesis reactions. To explore this idea, several representative olefin metathesis reactions, including ring closing, were successfully terminated by the addition of simple allenyl esters for more convenient purification.

Abstract
An efficient palladium-catalyzed site-selective arylation of γ-vinyl-γ-lactone by aryl boronic acid has been developed. γ-Vinyl-γ-lactone 1a has been contemplated as allyl electrophile donor for allylic arylation via π-allyl palladium intermediate using 1.5 equiv of aryl boronic acid 2. Using 3.0 equiv of the latter resulted in mono-arylation by allylic substitution and subsequent site-selective second arylation by directed allylic C-H activation giving stereoselectively anti-γ-(aryl,styryl)-β-hydroxy acids. Presence of O2 was crucial for the second arylation via Pd(II) catalysis. Thus, a good synergy of dual catalysis by Pd(0) and Pd(II) was observed. This methodology has been elaborated to synthesize highly substituted tetrahydrofurans including aryl-Hagen's gland lactone analogues via intramolecular iodoetherification.

Abstract
The exploration into the scope of a silver-catalyzed cyclization (AgCC) of propargyl benzoates for accessing pyran ring systems has been reported. The impact of the degree of substitution, nature of the substitution on the carbon backbone/benzoate moiety, and stereochemistry has been evaluated. The application of this methodology to the synthesis of the C1-C12 southern fragment of madeirolide A is disclosed.

Abstract
Chiral ammonium salts were used to catalyze the isomerization of organomanganese-complexed alkynyl aldehydes to chiral allenal building blocks in moderate to good enantiomeric excesses. Normally, conjugated alkynyl aldehydes do not isomerize to their thermodynamically less stable allene isomers. However, with a manganese auxiliary in place to promote allene formation, asymmetric protonation of cumulenolate intermediates was realized using a variety of cinchonidinium salts in a weakly basic biphasic reaction system. Optimal results were realized using a novel cinchonidinium geranyl derivative with its C-9 hydroxyl group playing a crucial role in enantioselectivity.
