Abstract
Two porphyrin-chromophores, i.e. triad PorZn-(PorCOOH)(2)-(piper)2 (GZ-T1) and dyad (PorZn)(2)-NMe2 (GZ-T1), have been synthesized and their photophysical and electrochemical properties have been investigated. The optical properties together with the appropriate electronic energy levels, i.e. the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels, revealed that both porphyrin assemblies can function as sensitizers for dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The and -based DSSCs have been prepared and studied using 20 mM CDCA as coadsorbent and were found to exhibit an overall power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 5.88% and 4.56%, respectively (under an illumination intensity of 100 mW cm(-2) with TiO(2) films of 12 μm). The higher PCE of the -sensitized DSSC, as revealed from the current-voltage characteristic under illumination and the incident photon to current conversion efficiency (IPCE) spectra of the two DSSCs, is mainly attributed to its enhanced short circuit current (J(sc)), although both the open circuit voltage (V(oc)) and the fill factor are improved too. The electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS) demonstrated a shorter electron transport time, longer electron lifetime and higher charge recombination resistance for the DSSC sensitized with the dye as well as a larger dye loading onto the TiO(2) surface.

Abstract
Btzn (1), an amine-functionalized bi(1,3,5-triazine) 4,4'-(NH(2))(2)-6,6'-(NHC(6)H(5))(2)-2,2'-(1,3,5-C(3)N(3))(2), is reported, and its coordination with Co, Ni and Cu is explored. Reactions of metal salts (2 equiv) with Btzn (1 equiv) result in dimeric species [(Btzn)Co(2)(NCS)(4)(EtOH)(2)(DMF)(2)], (2), [(Btzn)Ni(2)(η(1)-ONO(2))(2)(MeOH)(4)(DMF)(2)]·2[NO(3)], (3), [(Btzn)Cu(2)Cl(4)(DMF)(2)], (4), and [(Btzn)Cu(2)(η(2)-O(2)NO)(2)(OH(2))(2)(DMF)(2)]·2[NO(3)], (5). These complexes are the first examples of the coordination of transition metals with bi(1,3,5-triazine) ligands. Their structures display a bridging bis-bidentate coordination mode for Btzn. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility of the complexes reveals antiferromagnetic exchange between the spin carriers, with calculated exchange coupling values (J) of -4.7 cm(-1) for 3, -18.2 cm(-1) for 4, and -5.5 cm(-1) for 5. An in-depth evaluation of the metal geometry highlights the inefficient overlap of the magnetic d-orbitals through the bridging ligand, most likely leading to reduced delocalization and coupling.

Abstract
Monodispersed oligomers have been widely developed and used in different optoelectronic areas due to their well-defined molecular structures, high purity, and solution processability. Star-shaped oligomers are especially interesting for OLED application because of their antiaggregation abilities and stable electroluminescence. In addition, star-shaped donor-pi-acceptor conjugated molecules are known to afford good nonlinear optical and two-photon absorption properties due to the intramolecular charge transfer and cooperative enhancement effects. In this context, three generations of highly soluble 1,3,5-triazine based donor-pi-acceptor compounds, TFT1, TFT2, and TFT3, were prepared through a convergent synthetic strategy and their optoelectronic properties were fully studied, which showed distinct correlations with the structures. Closed-aperture and open-aperture Z-scan methods were employed to measure the nonlinear refractive index and two-photon absorption properties of the oligomers, respectively. TFT1 showed a high nonlinear refractive index of 4.14 x 10(-12) esu in THF solution with an excitation wavelength of 800 nm. Also, TFT1 exhibited a large two-photon absorption cross section of 234 GM and a frequency up-converted two-photon excited fluorescence with a lambda(TPEF)(max) value of 527 nm under 800 nm laser irradiation with a pulse duration of 140 fs. OLED devices using the spin-coated films of these oligomers as an active layer showed intensive blue electroluminescence with a maximum luminance of 3093 cd/m(2) at a current efficiency of 1.47 cd/A from TFT1.
