Abstract
The photochemical behaviour of selected aryl sulfonates and phosphates (ArOX) in polar and nonpolar media has been investigated by laser flash photolysis (LFP) experiments. Two main pathways have been identified, namely the photohomolysis of the ArO-X bond or the photoheterolysis of the Ar-OX bond depending on the nature of the leaving group (OX) and on the nature of the substituents on the aromatic ring. In nonpolar solvents the esters are quite photostable due to an efficient triplet deactivation. In polar solvents, the homolytic fragmentation of the ArO-S bond from the exited singlets was found in aryl sulfonates bearing moderately electron-donating groups as well as electron-withdrawing groups. In electron-rich aryl phosphates and sulfonates photoheterolysis of the Ar-OP/Ar-OS bond took place as the exclusive pathway.

Abstract
Peptoid nanosheets can be broadly functionalized for a variety of applications. However, they are susceptible to degradation when exposed to chemical or mechanical stress. To improve their strength, photolabile monomers were introduced in order to crosslink the nanosheet interior. Photo-crosslinking produced a more robust material that can survive sonication, lyophilization, and other biochemical manipulations.

Abstract
The facile iodination of aromatic compounds under mild conditions is a great challenge for both organic and medicinal chemistry. Particularly, the synthesis of functionalized aryl iodides by light has long been considered impossible due to their photo-lability, which actually makes aryl iodides popular starting materials in many photo-substitution reactions. Herein, a photo-induced halogen exchange in aryl or vinyl halides has been discovered for the first time. A broad scope of aryl iodides can be prepared in high yields at room temperature under exceptionally mild conditions without any metal or photo-redox catalysts. The presence of a catalytic amount of elemental iodine could promote the reaction significantly.

Abstract
Photocatalytic reactions have been defined as those processes that require both a (not consumed) catalyst and light. A previous definition was whether such reactions brought a system towards or away from the (thermal) equilibrium. This consideration brings in the question whether a part of the photon energy is incorporated into the photochemical reaction products. Data are provided for representative organic reactions involving or not molecular catalysts and show that energy storage occurs only when a heavily strained structure is generated, and in that case only a minor part of photon energy is actually stored (ΔG up to 25 kcal·mol−1). The green role of photochemistry/photocatalysis is rather that of forming highly reactive intermediates under mild conditions.

Abstract
The nonaccessibility of phenyl cations by irradiation of electron-poor aryl chlorides was circumvented by transforming the carbonyl group of aromatic ketones or aldehydes into the corresponding 1,3-dioxolanes and the carboxyl group of benzoate ester into an orthoester functionality. This transformation allowed the heterolytic photoactivation of the Ar-Cl bond in protic media and the generation of phenyl cations. In the presence of π-bond nucleophiles, arylated products were obtained in good to excellent yields.

Abstract
This paper describes the 1,1-arylacetoxylation of diverse α-olefins using organostannanes and hypervalent iodine oxidants. The reaction provides a convergent approach for generating a C-C and a C-O bond as well as a new stereocenter in a single catalytic transformation.
