Abstract
Carbopalladation-initiated cascade reaction involving 1,4-Pd migration is a straightforward and powerful approach to activate remote C─H bond, forging versatile fused polycyclic compounds containing fluorene fragment which are highly valuable synthetic targets. However, its asymmetric variants pose considerable challenges and have not been explored. Here the first asymmetric palladium-catalyzed tandem carbopalladation is reported, 1,4-Pd migration reaction of ortho-iodophenol-derived allyl ether under mild conditions, allowing the transformation of a wide range of substrates in good to excellent enantioselectivities, and providing a facile and straight forward access to tetracyclic dihydroindeno[1,2,3-de]chromene bearing a chiral fluorene skeleton. A good functional group tolerance, high stereoselectivity, as well as the good chiroptical properties (high fluorescence quantum yields, circular dichroism) of the products make this approach highly attractive. Moreover, density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicate that the protonation of five-membered palladacycle intermediate is more favorable rather than its direct reductive elimination process.

Abstract
It is found that the reaction of dimethyl 2-phenylcyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxylate with 2 equivalents each of aromatic aldehydes and TaCl5 in 1,2-dichloroethane at 23 °C for 24 h after hydrolysis gives substituted 4-phenyl-3,4-dihydronaphtalene-2,2(1H)-dicarboxylates in good yield. This represents a new type of reactions between 2-arylcyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxylates and aromatic aldehydes, yielding chlorinated tetrahydronaphthalenes with a cis arrangement of the aryl and chlorine substituents in the cyclohexene moiety. A plausible reaction mechanism is proposed.

Abstract
The Heck/Suzuki tandem reaction has emerged as an essential strategy for the synthesis of complex molecules. Herein, an efficient palladium-catalyzed Heck/Suzuki tandem reaction of (Z)-1-iodo-1,6-dienes with organoboronic acids is described, providing various tetrahydropyridines in good to excellent yields under mild reaction conditions. The key to the success of this approach is the avoidance of the intramolecular second Heck insertion occurring prior to the transmetalation step. In addition, the asymmetric version of this reaction is investigated to deliver chiral tetrahydropyridine in excellent yield with promising enantioselectivity.

Abstract
Efficient palladium-catalyzed vinylic C-H alkenylation and allenylation of gem-disubstituted ethylenes with N-tosylhydrazones of aryl alkyl and diaryl ketones were achieved to access trisubstituted 1,3-dienes and tetrasubstituted allenes, respectively. An aryl to vinyl 1,4-palladium migration/carbene insertion/β-hydride elimination sequence proceeded to switch the chemo- and regioselectivities to give structurally diverse products. Use of 2-FC6H4OH additive enables enhancement of the reaction efficiency through accelerating the key 1,4-palladium migration process.

Abstract
An expeditious approach to the construction of spiroindenyl-2-oxindoles was developed via a palladium-catalyzed spirocyclization reaction of 2-bromoarylamides with vinyl bromides. The reaction formed spiropalladacycles as the intermediates via carbopalladation and the C–H functionalization of 2-bromoarylamides. The spiropalladacycles reacted with vinyl bromides to form spiroindenyl-2-oxindoles. A Heck process rather than vinylic C–H functionalization was involved in the reaction.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed remote C-H silylation reaction has been developed through vinylic to aryl 1,4-palladium migration. By using alkyne-tethered aryl iodides as the starting materials and hexamethyldisilane as the silylating reagent, the reaction involves cascade intramolecular carbopalladation, 1,4-palladium migration, and silylation with hexamethyldisilane, and leads to the formation of exocyclic alkene-containing 5-silylisoquinolines as the final products.

Abstract
Rapid construction of molecules bearing all-substituted quaternary stereocenters represents a highly significant but challenging task in organic synthesis. Herein, we report a novel palladium-catalyzed cascade between alkene-tethered aryl iodides and carbon monoxide, which has resulted in a practical and powerful method for the synthesis of complex polycyclic molecules containing aryl-substituted quaternary stereocenters. Mechanistic studies suggested that the reaction proceeded via a Heck-type carbonylative cyclization, followed by a ketene-involved Friedel-Crafts acylation.

Abstract
Coumarin-linked heterocycles represent privileged structural subunits and are welldistributed
in naturally occurring compounds with immense biological activities. Multicomponent
reactions (MCRs) are becoming a valuable tool for synthesizing structurally diverse
molecular entities. On the other hand, the last year has seen a tremendous outburst in modifying
chemical processes to make them sustainable for the betterment of our environment. The
application of aqueous medium in organic synthesis is fulfilling some of the goals of ‘green
and sustainable chemistry’ as it has some advantages over the traditional synthetic methods in
terms of reaction rates, yields, purity of the products, product selectivity, etc. Hence, significant
progress has been made in recent years. In the present review, we provide an overview of
the recent developments of multicomponent synthesis of biologically relevant coumarin
linked and fused heterocyclic compounds carried out from 2015 till today in an aqueous medium.

Abstract
AbstractTransition-metal-catalyzed direct inert C–H bond functionalization has attracted much attention over the past decades. However, because of the high strain energy of the suspected palladacycle generated via C–H bond palladation, direct functionalization of a C–H bond less than a three-bond distance from a catalyst center is highly challenging. In this short review, we summarize the advances on palladium-catalyzed bridging C–H activation, in which an inert proximal C–H bond palladation is promoted by the elementary step of migratory insertion of an alkene, an alkyne or a metal carbene intermediate.1 Introduction2 Palladium-Catalyzed Alkene Bridging C–H Activation2.1 Intramolecular Reactions2.2 Intermolecular Reactions3 Palladium-Catalyzed Alkyne Bridging C–H Activation3.1 Intermolecular Reactions3.2 Intramolecular Reactions4 Palladium-Catalyzed Carbene Bridging C–H Activation5 Conclusion and Outlook

Abstract
A general procedure for the tandem arylation reaction of arylbromide with heteroaryl compounds was developed by using Pd(PPh3)2Cl2/(±)-BINAP (1,1′-Binaphthalene-2,2′-diylbis (diphenylphosphane)) as catalytic system. Both sulphur- and oxygen-containing heterocycles were also employed as an efficient reagent for arylation, which gave moderate to excellent yields with moderate to good regioselectivities (5:1 to > 20:1 ir (isomer ratio)). Except for dihydrobenzofurans, indolines and indolinones, this type of tandem reaction was also expanded to synthesize isochromanes. The synthesized new compounds were well characterized through different spectroscopic techniques, such as 1H and 13C NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance), and mass spectral analysis.

Abstract
We report a novel catalyst Pd/SOS that catalyzes the dual C-C bond forming coupling of an iodoarene moiety with an internal alkene and an external alkyne via an intramolecular Heck reaction, followed by an intermolecular Sonogashira reaction, respectively. The catalyst was characterized using XRD, IR, XPS, SEM and TEM analyses. Notably, for the first time, cheap and readily available new silica [nanosilica on microsilica (SOS)] material-supported ultra-small Pd nanoparticles (2.20 nm) are employed for the efficient synthesis of dihydrobenzofuran and oxindole derivatives in a domino one-pot reaction. Significantly, a sub-molar quantity of Pd (0.3 mol%) was found to be sufficient to furnish the products in very good to near quantitative yields. Gratifyingly, the catalyst could be recycled up to five cycles with a marginal loss (∼no loss) of the product.

Abstract
An efficient aryl to vinyl 1,4-palladium migration/Heck sequence was developed for the stereoselective synthesis of 1,3-dienes. High stereoselectivity was observed not only for 1,3-dienes bearing two similar aryl groups at terminal positions, but also for those with configurations shown to be unfavorable with previous methods.

Abstract
The mechanism of the palladium-catalyzed spirocyclization of acrylamides has been investigated by density functional theory and experimental studies. The results support a mechanistic pathway that proceeds via oxidative addition, intramolecular carbopalladation, C-H bond activation, and migratory insertion sequence. The M06L/def2-TZVPP//BP86/6-31G(d,p)/LANL2DZ level of theory used and the inclusion of solvent effects provide results in good agreement with the experimental data. The C-H bond activation step proceeds via a concerted outer-sphere metallation deprotonation mechanism that explains the absence of a measurable kinetic isotopic effect. The subsequent intermolecular migratory insertion of arynes is significantly faster than the insertion of internal alkynes. Furthermore, the regioselectivities calculated in the case of unsymmetrical reactants are remarkably close to the experimental values. Evaluation of the potential energy surfaces for specific substrates provides an explanation for the lack of product formation observed experimentally. Finally, the computational and experimental analyses of potential side reactions are also presented and support the initially proposed mechanism.

Abstract
Under Pd catalysis with a newly synthesized electron-deficient heterocycle, 2-(4,5-dihydroimidazol-2-yl)pyrimidine (as the ligand), the reaction of α,β-unsaturated esters with arylboronic acids afforded a wide range of 3,3-disubstituted indan-1-ones bearing a quaternary carbon in high yields. Mechanistic studies revealed that the reaction involves a tandem conjugate addition/1,4-Pd shift followed by a cyclization.

Abstract
Utilizing halogens as traceless directing goups represents an attractive strategy for C-H functionalization. A two C-H alkylation system, initiated by the oxidative addition of organohalides to Pd0 , has been developed. The first reaction involves an intermolecular alkylation of palladacycles to form C(sp3 )-C(sp2 ) bonds followed by C(sp2 )-H activation/cyclization to deliver alkylated benzocyclobutenes as the final products. In the second reaction, two C-C bonds are formed by the reaction of palladacycles with CH2 Br2 , and provides a facile and efficient method for the synthesis of indanes. The alkylated benzocyclobutene products can be transformed into tricyclic hyrocarbons, and the indane derivatives are essential structural motifs in bioactive and odorant molecules.
