Abstract
The synthesis and reactivity of an ambiphilic iridium complex IrCl(PPh3)(L1) (1; L1 = P(N(o-N(2-pyridyl)C6H4)2)) featuring a chelating nontrigonal phosphorus triamide ligand is reported. The tandem Lewis basic Ir and Lewis acidic P of 1 achieve a two-site oxidative addition of phenol giving the iridaphenoxyphosphorane species IrHCl(PPh3)(L1OPh) (3'). In contrast, reactions of 1 with benzenethiol and benzeneselenol do not engage L1 and instead proceed via metal-centered oxidative addition of the chalcogen-hydrogen bond. These findings establish metal-ligand cooperation involving nonspectator reactivity of tricoordinate phosphorus ligands.

Abstract
Reversible transformations are observed between a phosphide-nickel(II) alkoxide and a phosphinite-nickel(0) species via a P-O bond formation coupled with a 2-e(-) redox change at the nickel center. In the forward reaction, the nickel(0) dinitrogen species (PP(OMe)P)Ni(N2) (2) and {(PP(OMe)P)Ni}2(μ-N2) (3) were formed from the reaction of (PPP)NiCl (1) with a methoxy anion. In the backward reaction, a (PPP)Ni(II) moiety was regenerated from the CO2 reaction of 3 with the concomitant formation of a methyl carbonate ligand in (PPP)Ni(OCOOMe) (7). Thus, unanticipated metal-ligand cooperation involving a phosphide based ligand is reported.

Abstract
The mononuclear pentafluorophenyl platinum complex containing the chelated diphenylphosphinous acid/diphenylphosphinite system [Pt(C(6)F(5)){(PPh(2)O)(2)H}(PPh(2)OH)] 1 has been prepared and characterised. 1 and the related alkynyl complex [Pt(C[triple bond, length as m-dash]CBu(t)){(PPh(2)O)(2)H}(PPh(2)OH)] 2 form infinite one-dimensional chains in the solid state based on intermolecular O-H[dot dot dot]O hydrogen bonding interactions. Deprotonation reactions of [PtL{(PPh(2)O)(2)H}(PPh(2)OH)] (L = C(6)F(5), C[triple bond, length as m-dash]CBu(t), C[triple bond, length as m-dash]CPh 3) with [Tl(acac)] yields tetranuclear Pt(2)Tl(2) complexes [PtL{(PPh(2)O)(2)H}(PPh(2)O)Tl](2) (L = C(6)F(5) 4, C[triple bond, length as m-dash]CBu(t), C[triple bond, length as m-dash]CPh ). The structure of the tert-butylalkynyl derivative , established by X-ray diffraction, shows two anionic discrete units [Pt(C[triple bond, length as m-dash]CBu(t)){(PPh(2)O)(2)H}(PPh(2)O)](-) joined by two Tl(i) centres via Tl-O and Pt-Tl bonds. Despite the existence of Pt-Tl interactions, they do not show luminescence.

Abstract
Complex OsH{eta5-C5H4(CH2)2NMe2}(P(i)Pr3)2 (1) reacts with 1 equiv of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (HOTf) and trifluoromethanesulfonic acid-d1 (DOTf) to produce the dihydride and hydride-deuteride complexes, [OsHE{eta5-C5H4(CH2)2NMe2}(P(i)Pr3)2]OTf (E = H (2), D (2-d1), respectively. Treatment of 2 and 2-d1 with a second equivalent of HOTf gives [OsHE{eta5-C5H4(CH2)2NHMe2}(P(i)Pr3)2][OTf]2 (E = H (3), D (3-d1) as a result of the protonation of the nitrogen atom. While the hydride and deuteride ligands of 2, 2-d1, 3, and 3-d1 do not undergo any H/D exchange process with the solvent, in acetone-d6, the NH proton of 3 and 3-d1 changes places with a deuterium atom of the solvent to yield [OsHE{eta5-C5H4(CH2)2NDMe2}(P(i)Pr3)2][OTf]2 (E = H (3-Nd1), D (3-d2)). Complex 3-Nd1 can also be obtained from the treatment of complex 2 with DOTf in dichloromethane. No exchange process between the hydride and the ND positions in 3-Nd1 or between the deuteride and NH positions in 3-d1 has been observed. Treatment of 3-Nd1 and 3-d1 with sodium methoxide results in a selective reaction of the base with the ammonium group to regenerate 2 and 2-d1, respectively. Complex 1 also reacts with methyl and methyl-d3 trifluoromethanesulfonate (CH3OTf and CD3OTf, respectively) to give [OsH{eta5-C5H4(CH2)2NMe2CE3}(P(i)Pr3)2]OTf (E = H (4), D (4-d3)) as a result of the addition of the CE3 (E = H, D) group to the nitrogen atom. Complex 4 has been characterized by an X-ray diffraction analysis. It reacts with a second molecule of CH3OTf or CD3OTf to produce [OsH{eta5-C5H4(CH2)2NMe3}{CH2CH(CH3)P(i)P2}(P(i)Pr3)[OTf]2 (5). Similarly, complex 4-d3 reacts with a second molecule of CH3OTf or CD3OTf to yield [OsH{eta5-C5H4(CH2)2NMe2CD3}{CH2CH(CH3)P(i)P2}(P(i)Pr3)[OTf]2 (5-d3). In acetonitrile, complex 5 evolves to an equilibrium mixture of the acetonitrile adducts [Os{eta5-C5H4(CH2)2NMe3}(NCCH3)(P(i)Pr3)2][OTf]2 (7) and [Os{eta5-C5H4(CH2)2NMe3}(NCCH3)2(P(i)Pr3)][OTf]2 (8). In methanol or methanol-d4, complex 4 is not stable and loses trimethylamine to give the vinylcyclopentadienyl derivatives [OsHE(eta5-C5H4CH=CH2)(P(i)Pr3)2]OTf (E = H (9), D (9-d1)) as a result of the protonation or deuteration of the metallic center and a subsequent Hofmann elimination. Protonation of 4 with HOTf gives the dihydride-trimethylammonium derivative [OsH2{eta5-C5H4(CH2)2NMe3}(P(i)Pr3)2][OTf]2 (10). Treatment of 9 with sodium methoxide produces OsH(eta5-C5H4CH=CH2)(P(i)Pr3)2 (11).

Abstract
[Ru(II)(por)(PH(n)Ph(3-n))2], [Os(II)(por)(CO)(PH(n)Ph(3-n))] (n=1, 2), and [Os(II)(F20-tpp){P(OH)Ph2}(PHPh2)] (F20-tpp=5,10,15,20-tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)porphyrinato dianion) were prepared from the reaction of [M(II)(por)(CO)] (M=Ru, Os) or [Os(VI)(por)O2] with the respective primary/secondary phosphane and characterized by 1H NMR, 31P NMR, UV/Vis, and IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis. The reaction of [Os(VI)(por)O2] with PHPh2 also gave minor amounts of [Os(II)(por){P(OH)Ph2}2]. [Ru(II)(F20-tpp)(PH2Ph)2] exhibits a remarkable stability toward air and shows a reversible metal-centered oxidation couple at E(1/2)=0.39 V versus [Cp2Fe](+/0) in the cyclic voltammogram. The structures of [Ru(II)(F20-tpp)(PH2Ph)2] x 2CH2Cl2, [Ru(II)(4-Cl-tpp)(PHPh2)2] x 2CH2Cl2 (4-Cl-tpp=5,10,15,20-tetrakis(p-chlorophenyl)porphyrinato dianion), [Ru(II)(F20-tpp)(PHPh2)2], and [Os(II)(F20-tpp){P(OH)Ph2}2] were determined by X-ray crystallography and feature Ru-P distances of 2.3397(11)-2.3609(9) A and an Os-P distance of 2.369(2) A.
