Abstract
New stable thiolate gold(I) derivatives containing the alkylated phosphanes [PTA-CH2Ph]Br and [PTA-CH2COOMe]Br derived from 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane (PTA) have been prepared by different routes of synthesis. By the use of basic media to deprotonate the corresponding thiol in the former and by transmetallation reactions from tin (IV) complexes, in the later, thus avoiding side reactions on the phosphane. Strong antiproliferative effects are observed for most of the compounds, including the chloro- and bromo precursors with the series of phosphanes derived from PTA, in human colon cancer cell lines (Caco-2, PD7 and TC7 clones). Apoptosis-induced cell death is found for all compounds, being the thiolate derivatives with [PTA-CH2Ph]Br the most effective, as shown by an annexin-V/propidium iodide double-staining assay.

Abstract
The structures of trans-[M(2)(CN)(4)(PH(2)CH(2)PH(2))(2)] (M = Pt (1), Pd (2), and Ni (3)), trans-[Pt(2)X(4)(PH(2)CH(2)PH(2))(2)] (X = Cl (4) and Br (5)), and trans-[M(CN)(2)(PH(3))(2)] (M = Pt (6), Pd (7), and Ni (8)) in the ground state were optimized using the MP2 method. Frequency calculations reveal that the weak metal-metal interaction is essentially attractive for 1, 2, 4, and 5 but not for 3. The TD-DFT calculations associated with the polarized continuum model (PCM) were performed to predict absorption spectra in CH(2)Cl(2) solution. Experimental spectra are well reproduced by our results. With respect to analogous mononuclear d(8) complexes (6-8), a large red shift of the absorption wavelength was calculated for the binuclear d(8) complexes (1-3). Relative to 1 with unsaturated CN- donors, introduction of saturated halogen donors into 4 and 5 changes their electronic structures, especially the HOMO and LUMO. The TD-DFT and subsequent unrestricted MP2 calculations predict that 1 produces the lowest-energy d --> p emission while 2-5 favor the d --> d emissions, agreeing with experimental observations.

Abstract
The structural characterization of bis-cyclometalated palladium(II) compounds of formula Pd2[(micro-(C6X4)PPh2]2(micro-O2CR)2 [X = H, R = CH3 (3), CF3 (4), C(CH3)3 (5) and C6F5 (6); X = F, R = CH3 (7) and CF3 (8)], has confirmed its paddle wheel structure with two palladium atoms bridged by two acetates and two metalated phosphines in a head-to-tail arrangement. The Pd...Pd distances are in the range 2.6779(16)-2.7229(8) A. Under cyclic voltammetric conditions, compounds 3-6, in CH2Cl2 solution, were found to undergo a reversible oxidation peak in the range of potential values 0.84-1.25 V. A second partially-reversible oxidation is observed at more positive potentials (1.37-1.55 V). For compounds 3-5 in the presence of chlorides, the first oxidation becomes a two-electron process presumably leading to a neutral [Pd(III)-Pd(III)] species with a metal-metal bond.
