Abstract
A silyliumylidene ion 2 stabilized by two σ-donating Ni(0)- and Pd(0)-fragments was successfully synthesized. Due to the σ-donation of M→Si interactions, 2 presents a pyramidalized cationic silicon center with a localized lone pair. The additional coordination of basic Pd(0) fragment to the mono-Ni(0)-stabilized silyliumylidene 1 results in a higher HOMO level and an unchanged HOMO-LUMO gap and thus, 2 remains highly reactive. Interestingly, the coordination mode at the Si center is closely related to the nature of M-ligands. Indeed, the donor/donor-stabilized silyliumylidene ion 2 has been transformed into a donor/acceptor-stabilized ion 13, featuring a trigonal planar Si center with a vacant orbital, just via a ligand exchange reaction from PCy3/NHC toward PMe3.

Abstract
The reactions of a series of β-diketiminate stabilised aluminium dihydrides with ruthenium bis(phosphine), palladium bis(phosphine) and palladium cyclopentadienyl complexes is reported. In the case of ruthenium, alane coordination occurs with no evidence for hydrogen loss resulting in the formation of ruthenium complexes with a pseudo-octahedral geometry and cis-relation of phosphine ligands. These new ruthenium complexes have been characterised by multinuclear and variable temperature NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction. In the case of palladium, a series of structural snapshots of alane dehydrogenation have been isolated and crystallographically characterised. Variation of the palladium precursor and ligand on aluminium allows kinetic control over reactivity and isolation of intermetallic complexes that contain new Pd-Al and Pd-Pd interactions. These complexes differ by the ratio of H : Al (2 : 1, 1.5 : 1 and 1 : 1) with lower hydride content species forming with dihydrogen loss. A combination of X-ray and neutron diffraction studies have been used to interrogate the structures and provide confidence in the assignment of the number and position of hydride ligands. 27Al MAS NMR spectroscopy and calculations (DFT, QTAIM) have been used to gain an understanding of the dehydrogenation processes. The latter provide evidence for dehydrogenation being accompanied by metal-metal bond formation and an increased negative charge on Al due to the covalency of the new metal-metal bonds. To the best of our knowledge, we present the first structural information for intermediate species in alane dehydrogenation including a rare neutron diffraction study of a palladium-aluminium hydride complex. Furthermore, as part of these studies we have obtained the first SS 27Al NMR data on an aluminium(i) complex. Our findings are relevant to hydrogen storage, materials chemistry and catalysis.

Abstract
The reaction of Ph2GeH2 with a planar tripalladium(0) complex, [Pd3(μ-CN-C6H3Me2-2,6)3(CN-C6H3Me2-2,6)3], selectively afforded a hexagonal bipyramidal Pd6Ge2 complex, [Pd6(μ-GePh2)2(CN-C6H3Me2-2,6)8(μ-CN-C6H3Me2-2,6)2]. The molecule is stabilized by bridging coordination of isonitrile and GePh2 ligands, although all the Pd-Pd bonds are weak, as revealed by DFT calculations. The resulting complex undergoes two successive redox processes at E1/2 = -1.35 and -1.03 V (vs. Fc+/Fc), which correspond to the stepwise oxidation of the Pd(0)6 complex.

Abstract
A heterobimetallic PtPd3 complex supported by three bridging diphenylsilylene ligands, [Pt{Pd(dmpe)}3 (μ3 -SiPh2 )3 ] (1, dmpe=1,2-bis(dimethylphosphino)ethane), has been synthesized from mononuclear Pd and Pt complexes. The hexagonal core composed of Pt, Pd, and Si atoms is slightly larger than that of the tetrapalladium complex, [Pd{Pd(dmpe)}3 (μ3 -SiPh2 )3 ] (2). Reaction of PhSiH3 with complex 1 in the presence and absence of Ph2 SiH2 results in the formation of a tetranuclear complex with silyl and hydride ligands at the Pt center, [PtH(SiPh2 H){Pd(dmpe)}3 (μ3 -SiHPh)3 ] (3), and an octanuclear complex, [{Pt{Pd(dmpe)}3 (μ3 -SiHPh)3 }2 (κ2 -dmpe)] (5), respectively. Both M-Si (M=Pt, Pd) bond lengths and the 29 Si NMR chemical shifts of 1 and 2 are located between those of mononuclear late transition-metal complexes with a silylene ligand and complexes with donor-stabilized silylene ligands. CuI and AgI adducts of 1 and 2, formulated as [M(μ-M'I){Pd(dmpe)}3 (μ3 -SiPh2 )3 ] (M=Pt, Pd; M'=Cu, Ag), undergo elimination of CuI (AgI) and regenerate the tetrametallic complexes upon heating or addition of a chelating diphosphine. Elimination of AgI from 2-AgI occurs more rapidly than elimination of CuI from 2-CuI, as determined from the results of kinetics experiments.
