Abstract
Dinuclear phosphinidene complexes bridging two transition metal centres are now well established. However, a phosphinidene bridging a metal centre and a main group Lewis acid has not yet been reported. Herein, we describe the generation of a highly reactive phosphinidene complex bridging a tungsten and a boron centre. Furthermore, the synthesis and dyotropic rearrangement of a P-borane adduct of an N-methylimidazole-stabilized neutral, electrophilic terminal phosphinidene complex is reported.

Abstract
High-valent dichloride and dimethylniobium complexes 1 and 2 bearing tert-butylimido and N,N'-bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-β-diketiminate (BDIAr) ligands were prepared. The dimethyl complex reacted with dihydrogen to release methane and generate the hydride-bridged diniobium(IV) complex 3 in high yield. One-electron oxidation of 3 with silver salts resulted in the release of dihydrogen and conversion to a mixed-valent NbIII-NbIV complex, 4, that displayed a frozen-solution X-band electron paramagnetic resonance signal consistent with a slight dissymmetry between the two Nb centers. Spectroscopic and computational analysis supported the presence of Nb-Nb σ-bonding interactions in both 3 and 4. Finally, one-electron reduction of 4 resulted in conversion to the highly dissymmetric NbV-NbV dimer 5 that formed from the reductive C-N bond cleavage of one of the BDIAr supporting ligands.

Abstract
The silylmethylene-linked triamidophosphine P(CH2SiMe2NHPh)3 was isolated in form of its tri-lithium salt Li3[P(CH2SiMe2NPh)3]·2.5Et2O (1·2.5Et2O) and employed for the synthesis of titanium and zirconium complexes. Starting from 1·2.5Et2O, the chlorido complexes [κ(4)-N,N,N,P-PN3]MCl (4-M, M = Ti, Zr) were prepared and examined with respect to alkylation. Upon reaction of 4-Ti with (trimethylsilyl)methyl lithium, intra-ligand cyclometalation at one of the ortho-N-phenyl positions was observed and the resulting thermally stable titanazetidine [κ(5)-N,N,N,P,C-N2P(NC)]Ti (5-Ti) isolated. Similarly, the related zirconazetidine [κ(5)-N,N,N,P,C-N2P(NC)]Zr(THF) (5-Zr) was isolated upon reaction of 4-Zr with Bn2Mg(THF)2. Using LiCH2PMe2 as alkyl transfer reagent, both complexes 4-M were converted to the corresponding phosphametallacyclopropanes [κ(4)-N,N,N,P-PN3]M(κ(2)-C,P-CH2PMe2) (7-M, M = Ti, Zr). Upon gentle heating, complexes 7-M were cleanly converted to the cyclometalated species 5-M and trimethylphosphine. These results are discussed in the context of related amidophosphine and triamidoamine complexes.

Abstract
The triamidophosphine protioligand 1 reacts with the homoleptic pentakis(dimethylamido) precursors of niobium and tantalum [M(NMe2)5, where M = Nb, Ta] to form cyclometalated complexes of the type [N2PCN-κ(5)-N,N,P,C,N]M(NMe2) (2-M). Apart from the three amido donors, one benzylic position of the ligand backbone is deprotonated over the course of this reaction, resulting in the formation of a new M-C bond. As a consequence, a metallaziridine substructure is formed, and the triamidophosphine moiety thus serves as a tetraanionic pentadentate ligand. The dimethylamido complexes 2-M can be converted into the corresponding triflates [N2PCN-κ(5)-N,N,P,C,N]M(OTf) (3-M) and alkyl complexes [N2PCN-κ(5)-N,N,P,C,N]M(CH2SiMe3) (4-M) by treatment with triethylsilyl triflate (Et3SiO3SCF3) followed by (trimethylsilyl)methyllithium (LiCH2SiMe3). The alkyl complexes exhibit interesting reactivities, including a second cyclometalative backbone activation affording the trimethylphosphine-stabilized complexes [NP(CN)2-κ(6)-N,P,C,N,C,N]M(PMe3) (5-M). In the case of tantalum, the formation of a dinuclear hydrido complex (6) is observed upon hydrogenation of 4-Ta. In the case of niobium, the metallaziridine substructure in 4-Nb is prone to ring opening via protonation with triphenylsilylamine (Ph3SiNH2), resulting in formation of the corresponding imido complex [PN3-κ(4)-P,N,N,N]Nb=NSiPh3 (7).

Abstract
Activation of molecular nitrogen by transition metal complexes is an area of current interest as investigations using the inert N2 molecule to produce higher-value organonitrogen compounds intensify. In an attempt to extend the addition of hydride reagents E-H (where E = BR2, AlR2, and SiR3) to the dinitrogen complex ([NPN]Ta)2(mu-H)2(mu-eta1:eta2-N2) [1; where NPN = (PhNSiMe2CH2)2PPh], the reaction with zirconocene chlorohydride, [Cp2Zr(Cl)H]x, was examined. The crystalline product formed in 35% yield was determined to be ([NP(N)N]Ta)(mu-H)2(mu-N)(Ta[NPN])(ZrCp2) (2) in which the coordinated N2 has been cleaved to form a phosphinimide bridging between Ta and Zr and a triply bridging nitride. The mechanism of this reaction was examined to determine the fate of the chloride and hydride ligands attached to Zr in the starting zirconocene reagent. Using the zirconocene dihydride dimer ([Cp2ZrH2]2), a higher yield of 2 was obtained (76%), and H2 was also observed by 1H NMR spectroscopy. To probe the origin of the eliminated H2, the dideuterated dinitrogen complex ([NPN]Ta)2(mu-D)2(mu-eta1:eta2-N2) (d2-1) was allowed to react with ([Cp2ZrH2]2), which resulted in the formation of ([NP(N)N]Ta)(mu-D)2(mu-N)(Ta[NPN])(ZrCp2), (d2-2), with no evidence of hydrogen for deuterium scrambling between the starting zirconocene dihydride and the ditantalum dinitrogen complex. Studies into the use of preformed Zr(II) and Ti(II) reagents were also performed. The proposed mechanism involves initial adduct formation that facilitates inner-sphere electron transfer to cleave the N-N bond to form a species with bridging nitrides, one of which is transformed by nucleophilic attack of a phosphine donor to generate the observed phosphinimide.
