Abstract
The combination reactions of carbon dioxide with a Zr+/P-based frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) were computationally explored within the density functional theory framework [B3LYP-D3(BJ)/def2-TZVP]. Results showed that these reactions are exothermic, associated with relatively low activation barriers, and proceed concertedly involving Zr+-O and P-C chemical bond formations. Theoretical analysis revealed that the shorter the Zr+···P bond length of the Zr+/P-based FLP, the shorter the stretching O-C bond length of CO2 upon reaction, the larger the ∠OCO bending angle of CO2, the smaller the deformation energy of CO2, the lower the barrier height, and the greater the reactivity between the Zr+/P-based FLP and CO2. According to the energy decomposition analysis-natural orbitals for chemical valence, the bonding natures of their associated transition states are determined by the singlet-singlet interaction (donor-acceptor interaction), not the triplet-triplet interaction (electron-sharing interaction). Moreover, the bonding characteristics between Zr+/P-based FLPs and CO2 are established predominantly by the lone pair orbital(P) → the empty p-π* orbital (CO2) interaction, not the empty d-orbital(Zr+) ← the filled p-π orbital (CO2) interaction. With the use of the activation strain model, theoretical examinations showed that the reactivity trend of such combination reactions is mainly attributed to the deformation energies of the deformed reactants. The relationship between deformed geometrical structures and related activation energies is in good agreement with Hammond's postulate.

Abstract
This minireview provides a survey of the various synthetic approaches to chiral ansa-metallocenes of Ti, Zr, and Hf containing a carbon-based bridge. The individual strategies to install substitution patterns at either the cyclopentadienyl framework or the bridging unit are highlighted with focus on the progress made towards a direct preparation of single complex stereoisomers. The review further includes the discussion of potential problems such as the formation of undesired diastereomers, the threat of racemization of enantiopure material, and synthetic challenges originating from the synthesis, purification, and isolation of the target complexes. The review has been written with the goal in mind to facilitate the design and synthesis of new chiral ansa-metallocene derivatives for emerging research areas in asymmetric catalysis and organometallic chemistry.

Abstract
Reaction of [Mo2 Cp2 (μ-κ1 :κ1 ,η6 -PMes*)(CO)2 ] with S or Se followed by protonation with [H(OEt2 )2 ](BAr'4 ) gave the cationic derivatives [Mo2 Cp2 {μ-κ2P,E :κ1P ,η5 -EP(C6 H3 tBu3 )}(CNR)(CO)2 ](BAr'4 ) (E=S; R=tBu, iPr, Ph, 4-C6 H4 OMe, Xyl; or E=Se; R=tBu; Ar'=3,5-C6 H3 (CF3 )2 ). Reaction of the latter with K[BHsBu3 ] yielded the aldimine complexes [Mo2 Cp2 {μ-κ2P,E :κ2P,N ,η4 -SP(C6 H3 tBu3 (CHNR))}(CO)2 ] and their aminocarbene isomers [Mo2 Cp2 {μ-κ2P,E :κ2P,C ,η4 -SP(C6 H3 tBu3 (NRCH))}(CO)2 ] (R ≠ Xyl), following C-C and C-N couplings, respectively. Monitoring of these reactions revealed that the initial H- attack takes place at a Cp ligand to give cyclopentadiene intermediates [Mo2 Cp{μ-κ2P,S :κ1P ,η5 -SP(C6 H3 tBu3 )}(η4 -C5 H6 )(CNR)(CO)2 ], which then undergo C-H oxidative addition to give the hydride isomers [Mo2 Cp2 {μ-κ2P,S :κ1P ,η3 -SP(C6 H3 tBu3 )}(H)(CNR)(CO)2 ]. In turn, the latter rearrange to give the aldimine and aminocarbene complexes. DFT calculations revealed that the hydride intermediates first undergo migratory insertion of the isocyanide ligand into the Mo-H bond to give unobservable formimidoyl intermediates, which then evolve either by nucleophilic attack of the N atom on the C6 ring (C-N coupling) or by migratory insertion of the formimidoyl ligand into the C6 ring (C-C coupling). Our data suggest that increasing the size of the substituent R at the isocyanide ligand destabilizes the aldimine isomer to a greater extent, thus favoring formation of the aminocarbene complex.

Abstract
Frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs) are combinations of Lewis acids and Lewis bases in solution that are deterred from strong adduct formation by steric and/or electronic factors. This opens pathways to novel cooperative reactions with added substrates. Small-molecule binding and activation by FLPs has led to the discovery of a variety of new reactions through unprecedented pathways. Hydrogen activation and subsequent manipulation in metal-free catalytic hydrogenations is a frequently observed feature of many FLPs. The current state of this young but rapidly expanding field is outlined in this Review and the future directions for its broadening sphere of impact are considered.

Abstract
4,5-Dimethyl-1,2-bis(1-naphthylethynyl)benzene (12) undergoes a rapid multiple ring-closure reaction upon treatment with the strong boron Lewis acid B(C6F5)3 to yield the multiply annulated, planar conjugated π-system 13 (50 % yield). In the course of this reaction, a C6F5 group was transferred from boron to carbon. Treatment of 12 with CH3B(C6F5)2 proceeded similarly, giving a mixture of 13 (C6F5-transfer) and the product 15, which was formed by CH3-group transfer. 1,2-Bis(phenylethynyl)benzene (8 a) reacts similarly with CH3B(C6F5)2 to yield a mixture of the respective C6F5- and CH3-substituted dibenzopentalenes 10 a and 16. The reaction is thought to proceed through zwitterionic intermediates that exhibit vinyl cation reactivities. Some B(C6F5)3-substituted species (26, 27) consequently formed by in situ deprotonation upon treatment of the respective 1,2-bis(alkynyl)benzene starting materials (24, 8) with the frustrated Lewis pair B(C6F5)3/P(o-tolyl)3. The overall formation of the C6F5-substituted products formally require HB(C6F5)2 cleavage in an intermediate dehydroboration step. This was confirmed in the reaction of a thienylethynyl-containing starting material 21 with B(C6F5)3, which gave the respective annulated pentalene product 23 that had the HB(C6F5)2 moiety 1,4-added to its thiophene ring. Compounds 12-14, 23, and 26 were characterized by X-ray diffraction.

Density functional theory (DFT), absolutely localized molecular orbital (ALMO) analysis, and quasiclassical trajectories (QCTs) were used to study the structure, barrier heights, thermodynamics, electronic properties, and dynamics of dihydrogen (H2) activation by singlet divalent main group compounds (ER2; E = C, Si, Ge). ALMO energy and charge decomposition calculations reveal that in the transition state CR2 acts as an ambiphile toward H2 because of equal forward-bonding and back-bonding orbital stabilization while SiR2 and GeR2 act as nucleophiles with dominant orbital energy stabilization arising from ER2 to H2 donation. Frontier molecular orbital (FMO) energy gaps do not provide a reasonable estimate of energy stabilization gained between the ER2 and H2 in the transition state or an accurate description of the nucleophilic versus electrophilic character because of electron repulsion and orbital overlap influences that are neglected. In CR2 transition states, forward-bonding and back-bonding are maximized in the nonleast motion geometry. In contrast, SiR2/GeR2 transition states have side-on geometries to avoid electron-electron repulsion. Electron repulsion, rather than orbital interactions, also determines the relative barrier heights of CR2 versus SiR2/GeR2 reactions. Examination of barrier heights and reaction energies shows a clear kinetic-thermodynamic relationship for ER2 activation of H2. A computational survey of R groups on ER2 divalent atom centers was performed to explore the possibility for H2 activation to occur with a low barrier and thermodynamically reversible. QCTs show that dihydrogen approach and reaction with CR2 may involve geometries significantly different than the static transition-state structure. In contrast, trajectories for dihydrogen addition to SiR2 involve geometries close to the side-on approach suggested by the static transition-state structure. QCTs also demonstrate that addition of H2 to CR2 and SiR2 is dynamically concerted with the average time gap of bond formation between E-H bonds of approximately 11 and 21 fs, respectively.

Abstract
The two title crystalline compounds, viz. meso-bis{η(5)-1-[1-(dimethylamino)ethenyl]-3-(trimethylsilyl)cyclopentadienyl}iron(II), [Fe(C(12)H(20)NSi)(2)], (II), and meso-bis{η(5)-1-[1-(dimethylamino)ethenyl]-3-(trimethylsilyl)cyclopentadienyl}cobalt(II), [Co(C(12)H(20)NSi)(2)], (III), were obtained by the reaction of lithium 1-[1-(dimethylamino)ethenyl]-3-(trimethylsilyl)cyclopentadienide with FeCl(2) and CoCl(2), respectively. For (II), the trimethylsilyl- and dimethylaminoethenyl-substituted cyclopentadienyl (Cp) rings present a nearly eclipsed conformation, and the two pairs of trimethylsilyl and dimethylaminoethenyl substituents on the Cp rings are arranged in an interlocked fashion. In the case of (III), the same substituted Cp rings are perfectly staggered leading to a crystallographically centrosymmetric molecular structure, and the two trimethylsilyl and two dimethylaminoethenyl substituents are oriented in opposite directions, respectively, with the trimethylsilyl group of one Cp ring and the dimethylaminoethenyl group of the other Cp ring arranged more closely than in (II).
