Abstract
AbstractNickel-catalyzed cross-coupling and photoredox catalytic reactions has found widespread utilities in organic synthesis. Redox processes are key intermediate steps in many catalytic cycles. As a result, it is pertinent to measure and document the redox potentials of various nickel species as precatalysts, catalysts, and intermediates. The redox potentials of a transition-metal complex are governed by its oxidation state, ligand, and the solvent environment. This article tabulates experimentally measured redox potentials of nickel complexes supported on common ligands under various conditions. This review article serves as a versatile tool to help synthetic organic and organometallic chemists evaluate the feasibility and kinetics of redox events occurring at the nickel center, when designing catalytic reactions and preparing nickel complexes.1 Introduction1.1 Scope1.2 Measurement of Formal Redox Potentials1.3 Redox Potentials in Nonaqueous Solution2 Redox Potentials of Nickel Complexes2.1 Redox Potentials of (Phosphine)Ni Complexes2.2 Redox Potentials of (Nitrogen)Ni Complexes2.3 Redox Potentials of (NHC)Ni Complexes

Abstract
The room temperature reaction of 6-membered ring N-heterocyclic carbenes with [Ru3(CO)12] affords [Ru3(6-NHC)(CO)10], rare examples of coordinatively unsaturated, 46-electron tri-ruthenium clusters. Upon mild heating in the presence of C5H5N, H2 or PPh3, these compounds lose carbene.

Abstract
In biological reduction processes the dihydronicotinamides NAD(P)H often transfer hydride to an unsaturated substrate bound within an enzyme active site. In many cases, metal ions in the active site bind, polarize and thereby activate the substrate to direct attack by hydride from NAD(P)H cofactor. This review looks more widely at the metal coordination chemistry of organic donors of hydride ion--organo-hydrides--such as dihydronicotinamides, other dihydropyridines including Hantzsch's ester and dihydroacridine derivatives, those derived from five-membered heterocycles including the benzimidazolines and benzoxazolines, and all-aliphatic hydride donors such as hexadiene and hexadienyl anion derivatives. The hydride donor properties--hydricities--of organo-hydrides and how these are affected by metal ions are discussed. The coordination chemistry of organo-hydrides is critically surveyed and the use of metal-organo-hydride systems in electrochemically-, photochemically- and chemically-driven reductions of unsaturated organic and inorganic (e.g. carbon dioxide) substrates is highlighted. The sustainable electrocatalytic, photochemical or chemical regeneration of organo-hydrides such as NAD(P)H, including for driving enzyme-catalysed reactions, is summarised and opportunities for development are indicated. Finally, new prospects are identified for metal-organo-hydride systems as catalysts for organic transformations involving 'hydride-borrowing' and for sustainable multi-electron reductions of unsaturated organic and inorganic substrates directly driven by electricity or light or by renewable reductants such as formate/formic acid.

Abstract
We herein report the synthesis of a bis-2-pyridylidene palladium(II) complex as an isoelectronic structure of the well-known 2,2'-bipyridine complexes. One-pot or stepwise C-Cl oxidative addition followed by base-mediated C-H palladation of the chlorobipyridine dication to palladium(0) yielded the bis-2-pyridylidene palladium(II) carbonate smoothly.

Abstract
The reactions of [Ru(3)(CO)(12)] with four aromatic diazines have been studied in THF at reflux temperature. With phthalazine (L(1)), the compound [Ru(3)(μ-κ(2)N(2)N(3)-L(1))(μ-CO)(3)(CO)(7)] (1), which contains an intact phthalazine ligand in an axial position bridging an Ru-Ru edge through both N atoms, is initially formed but it reacts with more phthalazine to give [Ru(3)(κN(2)-L(1))(μ-κ(2)N(2)N(3)-L(1))(μ-CO)(3)(CO)(6)] (2), in which a π-π stacking interaction between the aromatic rings of both ligands determines their position in cluster axial sites on the same face of the Ru(3) triangle. With quinazoline (HL(2)), the cyclometalated hydrido decacarbonyl derivative [Ru(3)(μ-H)(μ-κ(2)N(3)C(4)-L(2))(CO)(10)] (3) is initially produced but it partially decarbonylates under the reaction conditions to give [Ru(6)(μ-H)(2)(μ-κ(2)N(3)C(4)-L(2))(μ(3)-κ(3)-N(1)N(3)C(4)-L(2))(CO)(19)] (4), which results from the displacement of a CO ligand of 3 by the uncoordinated N(1) atom of another molecule of 3. With 4,7-phenanthroline (H(2)L(3)), the stepwise formation of the cyclometalated derivatives [Ru(3)(μ-H)(μ-κ(2)N(4)C(3)-HL(3))(CO)(10)] (5) and two isomers of [Ru(6)(μ-H)(2)(μ(4)-κ(4)N(4)C(3)N(7)C(8)-L(3))(CO)(20)] (6a, 6b) takes place. In compounds 6a and 6b, two Ru(3)(μ-H)(CO)(10) trinuclear units are symmetrically (C(2) in 6a or C(S) in 6b) bridged by a doubly-cyclometalated 4,7-phenanthroline ligand. With 2,3'-bipyridine (HL(4)), two products have been isolated, [Ru(3)(μ-H)(μ-κ(2)N(3')C(4')-L(4))(CO)(10)] (7) and [Ru(3)(μ-H)(μ-κ(3)N(2)N(3')C(2')-L(4))(CO)(9)] (8). While compound 7 contains an N(3')C(4')-cyclometalated 2,3'-bipyridine, in compound 8 an N(3')C(2')-cyclometalation is accompanied by the coordination of the N(2) atom of the remaining pyridine fragment. The structures of compounds 2, 3, 4, 6a and 8 have been determined by X-ray diffraction crystallography.
