Abstract
The dinickel(I) complex Ni2 (tBu PONNOPONNO), featuring a planar macrocyclic diphosphoranide ligand tBu PONNOPONNO, offers a unique architectural platform for observing bimetallic elementary reactions. Oxidative addition reactions of alkyl halides produce dinickel(II) complexes of the type Ni2 (μ-R)(μ-X)(tBu PONNOPONNO). However, when R=Et β-hydride elimination is observed to form a dinickel monohydride, with the rate dependent on the nature of X. DFT studies suggest a new mechanism for bimetallic β-hydride elimination, where the rate dependence arises from the steric pressure imposed by the X group on the opposing trans face of the dinickel macrocycle. This work enhances understanding of bimetallic elementary reactions, particularly β-hydride elimination, which have not been well-explored for dinuclear systems.

Abstract
The effects of β-hydrogen-containing alkyl Grignard reagents in simple ferric salt cross-couplings have been elucidated. The reaction of FeCl3 with EtMgBr in THF leads to the formation of the cluster species [Fe8 Et12 ]2- , a rare example of a structurally characterized metal complex with bridging ethyl ligands. Analogous reactions in the presence of NMP, a key additive for effective cross-coupling with simple ferric salts and β-hydrogen-containing alkyl nucleophiles, result in the formation of [FeEt3 ]- . Reactivity studies demonstrate the effectiveness of [FeEt3 ]- in rapidly and selectively forming the cross-coupled product upon reaction with electrophiles. The identification of iron-ate species with EtMgBr analogous to those previously observed with MeMgBr is a critical insight, indicating that analogous iron species can be operative in catalysis for these two classes of alkyl nucleophiles.

Abstract
New and straightforward synthetic paths for the syntheses of [RNPNR]- anions (R = t-Bu (1) or CPh3 (6)) in the form of their tmeda- or thf-coordinated lithium salts are described. The attempts to isolate the sodium analogue [(Ph3CNPNCPh3)Na·(thf)x] (8) remained unsuccessful probably due to its high reactivity although its formation in the reaction of the parent cis-[(Ph3CNP)2(Ph3CNH)2] (5) with 2 eq. of sodium naphthalenide was corroborated by NMR spectroscopy. Importantly, when an excess of sodium naphthalenide was used in the reaction with 5, [(Ph3C)Na(thf)3] (9) was obtained along with a complex mixture of other by-products indicating the cleavage of the C-N bond in the starting material. Furthermore, the synthesis and the structural characterization of the [P(Nt-Bu)3]3- trianion as its trilithium salt [P(Nt-Bu)3Li3]2 (10) has been successfully achieved.

Abstract
Known stable [Cr(bpy)2(Ph)2](BPh4) complexes undergo reductive elimination of biphenyl with visible-light photolysis using household incandescent or compact fluorescent light bulbs. A series of [Cr(R-bpy)2(Ar)2](X) complexes (R = H or CMe3; Ar = Ph, C6H4-CMe3, or C6H4-OMe; X = I, BPh4, or PF6) were prepared, and the effect of varying the bipyridine and aryl ligands on the UV-visible spectra and electrochemistry of the chromium(III) complexes was investigated. Photolysis of a mixture of two different bis(aryl) complexes gave only the homocoupled biaryl products by 1H NMR and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry analysis. The initial product of photoinduced reductive elimination of [Cr(bpy)2(Ar)2](PF6) was trapped with bipyridine to generate [Cr(bpy)3](PF6) and with benzoyl peroxide to form [Cr(bpy)2(O2CPh)2](PF6). The latter chromium(III) bis(benzoate) complex was also synthesized by the addition of bipyridine and PhCO2H to Cp2Cr, followed by air oxidation. The neutral Cr(bpy)(S2CNMe2)Ph2 complex also generated biphenyl upon visible-light photolysis. While the treatment of Cr(tBu-bpy)(dpm)Cl2 [dpm = (OCtBu)2CH] with AgO2CPh gave trans-Cr(tBu-bpy)(dpm)(O2CPh)2, reaction of the dichloro precursor with PhMgCl produced anionic [Cr(tBu-bpy)Ph3]- with [Mg(dpm)(THF)4]+ as the countercation, with both complexes characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Protonolysis of Cr(bpy)Ph3(THF) with 8-hydroxyquinoline produced Cr(bpy)(quin)Ph2, which generated biphenyl under visible-light photolysis, and the initial product of reductive elimination was trapped by bipyridine or benzoyl peroxide. A related Cr(bpy)(quin)2 complex was synthesized by protonolysis of Cr(bpy)[N(SiMe3)2]2 and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

Abstract
The first structurally characterized phthalocyanine (Pc)-based PcM-aryl, PcM–alkynyl, and PcM–Wittig complexes (with any metal centre), and the first PcCr–alkyl complexes spanning three chromium and two Pc-ring oxidation states are presented, illustrating that this classical, redox-active macrocycle can support a wide range of metal–carbon chemistry.

Abstract
An amidinato-phosphino ligand ArN[double bond, length as m-dash]C(R)NH(o-Ph2PC6H4) (Ar = 2,4,6-Me3C6H2, R = Ph (1); Ar = 2,6-iPr2C6H3, R = Ph (2); Ar = 2,6-iPr2C6H3, R = tBu (3)) was prepared. The ligand reacted with CrCl3(THF)3 to yield the N,P-chelation complex [ArNHC(R)[double bond, length as m-dash]N(o-Ph2PC6H4)]CrCl3(THF) (4-6), and the ligand's lithium salt ArN[double bond, length as m-dash]C(R)N(o-Ph2PC6H4)Li reacted with the respective CrCl3(THF)3 and CrCl2(THF)2 to give the N,N,P-chelation complexes [ArN[double bond, length as m-dash]C(R)N(o-Ph2PC6H4)]CrCl2(THF) (7-8) and {[ArN[double bond, length as m-dash]C(R)N(o-Ph2PC6H4)]Cr(μ-Cl)}2 (9-11). Complexes 1-11 were characterized by IR, NMR (for 1-3), EPR (for 4-11) spectroscopy and CHN elemental analysis, of which 3, 5, 8, and 11 were further studied by X-ray crystallography. Upon activation with an organoaluminum cocatalyst, complexes 4-6 were all catalytically active in ethylene tri-/tetramerization along with ethylene polymerization, and complexes 7-11 functioned as well but in ethylene polymerization. The correlation between the structure and the catalytic properties of the catalyst system is discussed.
