Abstract
Main-group-metal-mediated transformations of imines have earned a valued place in the synthetic chemist's toolbox. Their versatility allows the simple preparation of various nitrogen containing compounds. This review will outline the early discoveries including metallation, addition/cyclisation and metathesis pathways, followed by the modern-day use of imines in synthetic methodology. Recent advances in imine C-F activation protocols are discussed, alongside revisiting "classic" imine reactivity from a sustainable perspective. Developments in catalytic methods for hydroelementation of imines have been reviewed, highlighting the importance of s-block metals in the catalytic arena. Whilst stoichiometric transformations in alternative reaction media such as deep eutectic solvents or water have been summarised. The incorporation of imines into flow chemistry has received recent attention and is summarised within.

Abstract
A group of new mononuclear boron chelate compounds [BPh2{κ2N,N'-5-R-NC4H2-2-C(H)[double bond, length as m-dash]N-Ar}] (R = Ar = C6H57; R = C6H5, Ar = 2,6-iPr2C6H38; R = Anthracen-9-yl (Anthr), Ar = C6H59; R = Anthr, Ar = 2,6-iPr2C6H310) were synthesized via the reaction of B(C6H5)3 with the corresponding 5-substituted 2-(N-arylformimino)pyrrole ligand precursors 3-6. These complexes were prepared in order to evaluate the luminescence potential derived from the substitution of the position 5 of the pyrrolyl ring with an aromatic group. Compounds 7-10 were photophysically characterized in solution and in the solid state. The 5-phenyl-2-iminopyrrolyl-BPh2 complexes 7 and 8 are blue emitters and have enhanced photoluminescence quantum yields in the solid state (ΦPL) up to 0.95, whereas the 5-anthracenyl derivatives 9 and 10 have green-bluish fluorescence and a ΦPL of 0.49 and 0.24, respectively. DFT and TDDFT studies were performed, considering the effect of solvent and dispersion, in order to show how the geometries of compounds 7-10 changed from the ground to the excited state, to assign electronic transitions, and to rationalize the observed luminescence. These materials were applied in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), with various device structures, the best showing an external quantum efficiency of 2.75% together with a high luminance of 23 530 cd m-2.

Abstract
Bidentate pyrrolyl ligands, 2-(t-butyliminomethyl)pyrrole and 2-(t-butylaminomethyl)pyrrole, reacted with KH to give complexes [C4H3N(2-CH[double bond, length as m-dash]NtBu)K(THF)]n (1) and [C4H3N(2-CH2NHtBu)K]n (2), respectively. Each has been characterized by C, H and N microanalysis, NMR spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray structural analysis. The X-ray structure of complex 1 (n≥ 1) demonstrated that it exists as a 1D zig-zag coordination polymer in the solid state. Conversely, the structure of complex 2 (n≥ 1) showed that it is a 2D supramolecular network. They proved to be an effective class of catalysts for cyclotrimerization of isocyanate in excellent yield under mild conditions.

Abstract
We report here a series of alkali and alkaline earth metal complexes, each with a bulky iminopyrrolyl ligand [2-(Ph3CN=CH)C4H3NH] (1-H) moiety in their coordination sphere, synthesized using either alkane elimination or silylamine elimination methods or the salt metathesis route. The lithium salt of molecular composition [Li(2-(Ph3CN=CH)C4H3N)(THF)2] (2) was prepared using the alkane elimination method, and the silylamine elimination method was used to synthesize the dimeric sodium and tetra-nuclear potassium salts of composition [(2-(Ph3CN=CH)C4H3N)Na(THF)]2 (3) and [(2-(Ph3CN=CH)C4H3N)K(THF)0.5]4 (4) respectively. The magnesium complex of composition [(THF)2Mg(CH2Ph){2-(Ph3CN=CH)C4H3N}] (5) was synthesized through the alkane elimination method, in which [Mg(CH2Ph)2(OEt2)2] was treated with the bulky iminopyrrole ligand 1-H in 1 : 1 molar ratio, whereas the bis(iminopyrrolyl)magnesium complex [(THF)2Mg{2-(Ph3CN=CH)C4H3N}2] (6) was isolated using the salt metathesis route. The heavier alkaline earth metal complexes of the general formula {(THF)nM(2-(Ph3CN=CH)C4H3N)2} [M = Ca (7), Sr (8), and n = 2; M = Ba (9), n = 3] were prepared in pure form using two synthetic methods: in the first method, the bulky iminopyrrole ligand 1-H was directly treated with the alkaline earth metal precursor [M{N(SiMe3)2}2(THF)n] (where M = Ca, Sr and Ba) in 2 : 1 molar ratio in THF solvent at ambient temperature. The complexes 7-9 were also obtained using the salt metathesis reaction, which involves the treatment of the potassium salt (4) with the corresponding metal diiodides MI2 (M = Ca, Sr and Ba) in 2 : 1 molar ratio in THF solvent. The molecular structures of all the metal complexes (1-H, 2-9) in the solid state were established through single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The complexes 5-9 were tested as catalysts for the ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone. High activity was observed in the heavier alkaline earth metal complexes 7-9, with a very narrow polydispersity index in comparison to that of magnesium complexes 5 and 6.

Abstract
We report an amidinato ligand-supported series of magnesium complexes obtained from the insertion of a magnesium-carbon bond into a carbon-nitrogen double bond of different carbodiimides and α-diimine ligands. The magnesium complexes [Mg(CH2Ph){CyN[double bond, length as m-dash]C(CH2Ph)NCy}]2 (), [Mg(CH2Ph){(i)PrN[double bond, length as m-dash]C(CH2Ph)N(i)Pr}]2 () and the homoleptic [Mg{(t)BuN[double bond, length as m-dash]C(CH2Ph)N(t)Bu}2] () (Cy = cyclohexyl, (i)Pr = isopropyl, (t)Bu = tert-butyl) were prepared by the reaction of dibenzyl magnesium [Mg(CH2Ph)2(Et2O)2] with the respective carbodiimides either in 1 : 1 or 1 : 2 molar ratio in toluene. The analogous reaction of [Mg(CH2Ph)2(Et2O)2] with the N,N'-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-1,4-diaza-1,3-butadiene (Dipp2DAD) ligand afforded the corresponding homoleptic magnesium complex [Mg{DippN[double bond, length as m-dash]C(CH2Ph)CH2NDipp}2] () (Dipp = 2,6 diisopropylphenyl) in good yield. The solid-state structures of magnesium complexes were confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. It was observed that in each case, a magnesium-carbon bond was inserted into the carbon-nitrogen double bond of either carbodiimides or Dipp2DAD resulting in a monoanionic amido-imino ligand. In a further reaction between and N-aryliminopyrrolyl ligand 2-(2,6-(i)Pr2C6H3N[double bond, length as m-dash]CH)C4H3NH (ImpDipp-H) in 1 : 2 molar ratio, a new magnesium complex [Mg(ImpDipp)2{CyN[double bond, length as m-dash]C(CH2Ph)NHCy}] (), with one amidinato and two aryliminopyrrolyl ligands in the coordination sphere, was obtained in good yield. In contrast, the homoleptic magnesium complex reacted with one equivalent of N-aryliminopyrrolyl ligand (ImpDipp-H) to produce another mixed ligated magnesium complex [Mg{DippN[double bond, length as m-dash]C(CH2Ph)CH2NDipp}(ImpDipp)] (), with a benzylated DAD ligand and aryliminopyrrolyl ligands in the coordination sphere. Further reaction of complex with benzyl alcohol (PhCH2OH) afforded the third mixed ligated magnesium complex [Mg{DippN[double bond, length as m-dash]C(CH2Ph)CH2NDipp}(OCH2Ph)2] () in very good yield. The magnesium complexes were characterised using standard analytical/spectroscopic techniques and their solid-state structures were established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.

Abstract
Reactions of 2-(N-arylimino)pyrroles (HNC4H3C(H)=N-Ar) with triphenylboron (BPh3) in boiling toluene afford the respective highly emissive N,N'-boron chelate complexes, [BPh2 {κ(2)N,N'-NC4H3C(H)=N-Ar}] (Ar=C6H5 (12), 2,6-Me2-C6H3 (13), 2,6-iPr2-C6H3 (14), 4-OMe-C6H4 (15), 3,4-Me2-C6 H3 (16), 4-F-C6H4 (17), 4-NO2-C6H4 (18), 4-CN-C6H4 (19), 3,4,5-F3-C6H2 (20), and C6F5 (21)) in moderate to high yields. The photophysical properties of these new boron complexes largely depend on the substituents present on the aryl rings of their N-arylimino moieties. The complexes bearing electron-withdrawing aniline substituents 17-20 show more intense (e.g., ϕf =0.71 for Ar=4-CN-C6H4 (19) in THF), higher-energy (blue) fluorescent emission compared to those bearing electron-donating substituents, for which the emission is redshifted at the expense of lower quantum yields (ϕf=0.13 and 0.14 for Ar=4-OMe-C6H4 (15) and 3,4-Me2-C6H3 (16), respectively, in THF). The presence of substituents bulkier than a hydrogen atom at the 2,6-positions of the aryl groups strongly restricts rotation of this moiety towards coplanarity with the iminopyrrolyl ligand framework, inducing a shift in the emission to the violet region (λmax =410-465 nm) and a significant decrease in quantum yield (ϕf=0.005, 0.023, and 0.20 for Ar=2,6-Me2-C6H3 (13), 2,6-iPr2-C6H3 (14), and C6F5 (21), respectively, in THF), even when electron-withdrawing groups are also present. Density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT (TD-DFT) calculations have indicated that the excited singlet state has a planar aryliminopyrrolyl ligand, except when prevented by steric hindrance (ortho substituents). Calculated absorption maxima reproduce the experimental values, but the error is higher for the emission wavelengths. Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) have been fabricated with the new boron complexes, with luminances of the order of 3000 cd m(-2) being achieved for a green-emitting device.

Abstract
A series of novel Mg(II) and Zn(II) complexes of the form LMX or L2M, supported by phenoxy-thioether ligands bearing different substituents at the ortho position of the thiophenol rings [L(-) = 4,6-tBu2-OC6H2-2-CH2S(2-R-C6H4)(-)] [M = Zn, R = H, X = N(SiMe3)2 (1) and X = Et (2); M = Mg, X = n-Bu, R = H (3), R = CH3 (4), R = Br (5); M = Mg, R = H (6)], were synthesized and characterized. Reaction of the proper zinc precursor (Zn[N(SiHMe2)2]2 or ZnEt2) with one equivalent of the phenoxy-thioether proligand produced the corresponding amido (1) and ethyl (2) zinc complexes in high yields. The monoalkylmagnesium complexes (3-5) were all obtained by butane elimination reaction of the dialkylmagnesium reagent, Mg(n-Bu)2, with one equivalent of the proligand in good yields. The homoleptic complex 6 was obtained by reaction of 0.5 equivalent of Mg(n-Bu)2 and the proper proligand. Variable temperature (1)H NMR studies performed on 2 and 3 demonstrated that the named complexes are involved in fluxional processes concerning a fast conformational change of the six-membered metallacycle. DOSY (Diffusion Ordered SpectroscopY) (1)H experiments and ligand scrambling strongly suggested that complexes 1-6 exist as dimeric species in solution. All complexes were active as catalysts in the ring-opening polymerization of cyclic esters. In particular, magnesium complexes showed superior ε-caprolactone and lactide ROP behavior in terms of activity, control of molecular weights and molecular weight distributions.
