Abstract
Industrially relevant single-site precatalysts used to produce isotactic polypropylene (iPP) include C2-symmetric {SBI} and C1-symmetric {Cp/Flu} complexes of group 4 metals. While the latter can produce iPPs with a higher degree of isotacticity, they also suffer from poor productivity compared to their {SBI} counterparts. Several causes for this trend have been suggested—2,1-Regioinsertions are frequently pointed out, as they are suspected to drive the catalyst into a dormant state. While this event does not seem to significantly impact the productivity of {SBI} systems, the influence of these regioerror is poorly documented for isoselective {Cp/Flu} precatalysts. To address this issue, new Ph2X(Cp)(Flu) (Ph2X = Ph2C, FluC, Ph2Si) proligands (2a–k) and some of the corresponding dichlorozirconocenes (3a–h,k) were synthesized. These new compounds were characterized and tested in homogeneous propylene polymerization at 60 °C and the amounts of regioerrors in the resulting polymers were examined by 13C NMR spectroscopy. A possible correlation between poor productivity and a high number of regioerrors was investigated and is discussed. Furthermore, a C-H activation process in the bulky nBu3C substituent upon activation of 4c (the dimethylated analog of 3c) by B(C6F5)3 has been evidenced by NMR; DFT calculations support this C-H activation as a deactivation mechanism.

Abstract
An unprecedented palladium(II)-catalyzed oxidative decarboxylative [2 + 2 + 1] annulation of cinnamic acids with alkynes has been developed for the synthesis of polysubstituted pentafulvenes. Ag2CO3 and DMSO are essential for the reaction. This protocol features readily available starting materials, a wide substrate scope, and moderate to excellent yields. Moreover, various significant frameworks can be easily obtained from the late-stage transformations of pentafulvenes via oxidation, reduction, and Scholl-type reaction.

Abstract
The first transition-metal-catalyzed vinylic geminal double C(sp2)-H activation and di-substituted alkyne annulation reaction is reported. This palladium(ii)-catalyzed, amide directed reaction of vinylic compounds with di-substituted alkynes offers an efficient synthetic path to pentafulvenes, which are very important compounds because of their bioactivity and interesting optical properties. A FeCl3-mediated transformation of pentafulvenes to fluorescent cyclopenta[b]quinolines is also developed.

A New Insight into the Comonomer Effect through NMR Analysis in Metallocene Catalysed Propene- co-1-Nonene Copolymers. Polymers (Basel) 2019; 11:polym11081266. Abstract
The "comonomer effect" is an intriguing kinetic phenomenon in olefin copolymerization that still remains without a detailed explanation. It typically relates to the rate of enhancement undergone in ethylene and propene catalytic polymerization just by adding small fractions of an alpha-olefin. The difficulty lies in the fact that changes caused by the presence of the comonomer in reaction parameters are so conspicuous that it is really difficult to pin down which of them is the primary cause and which ones are side factors with marginal contribution to the phenomenon. Recent investigations point to the modification of the catalyst active sites as the main driving factor. In this work, the comonomer effect in the metallocene copolymerization of propene and 1-nonene is analysed and correlated to the comonomer role in the termination of the chain-growing process. The associated termination mechanisms involved furnish most of chain-free active sites, in which the selective interaction of the comonomer was proposed to trigger the insertion of monomers. A thorough characterisation of chain-end groups by means of the 1H NMR technique allows for detailing of specific transfer processes, ascribed to comonomer insertions, as well as evidencing the influence of the growing chain's microstructure over the different termination processes available.

Abstract
An efficient synthetic route to ( E)-1,3-bissilyl-6-arylfulvenes has been developed. The reaction of aryl iodides with trimethylsilylacetylene in the presence of a catalytic amount of PdBr2 gives 6-aryl-1,3-bis(trimethylsilyl)fulvenes in good to excellent yields with complete regio- and stereoselectivity. The reaction involves trimerization of trimethylsilylacetylene and cleavage of one silyl group. The silylated fulvenes obtained could be converted into halogenated fulvenes by site-selective halodesilylation. The halogenated fulvenes underwent the Stille coupling leading to the corresponding arylated fulvenes.

Abstract
New ligand platforms of the type p- or m-Ph{-CR(3,6-tBu2Flu)(Cp)}2 (para-, R = Me (2a), H (2b); meta-, R = Me (2c)) were synthesized via nucleophilic addition of the 3,6-tBu2-fluorenyl-anion onto the parent phenylene-bridged difulvenes (1a–c). The corresponding discrete homodinuclear zirconium and hafnium bis(dichloro ansa-metallocene) complexes, Ph[{-CR(3,6-tBu2Flu)(Cp)}MCl2]2 (p-, R = Me (3a-Zr2, 3a-Hf2), R = H (3b-Zr2); m-, R = Me (3c-Zr2), were prepared by salt metathesis reactions. An attempt to generate in situ a heterodinuclear complex 3a-Zr-Hf was also undertaken. For the first time, Atmospheric Pressure PhotoIonization (APPI) mass-spectrometric data were obtained for all dinuclear compounds and found to be in excellent agreement with the simulated ones. Preliminary studies on the catalytic performances of these dinuclear complexes, upon activation with MAO, in ethylene homopolymerization and ethylene/1-hexene copolymerization revealed a few differences as compared to those of the monometallic analogues. In particular, slightly lower molecular weights and a greater formation of short methyl and ethyl branches were obtained with the dinuclear systems.

Abstract
The first three insertion steps of propylene for isoselective metallocenes from the one-carbon-bridged cyclopentadienyl-fluorenyl {Cp/Flu} and silicon-bridged ansa-bis(indenyl) {SBI} families were computed by using a theoretical method implementing the B3PW91 functional in combination with solvent corrections incorporated with the Solvation Model based on Density (SMD) continuum model. For C1 -symmetric {Cp/Flu}-type metallocenes, two mechanisms of stereocontrol were validated theoretically: more facile and more stereoselective chain "stationary" insertion (or site epimerization backskip) and less stereoselective alternating mechanisms. For the C2 -symmetric {SBI}-type system, the computation results were in complete agreement with the sole operating chain migratory insertion mechanism. The thermochemical data obtained through the study were used to predict microstructures of polypropylenes by using three-parameter and one-parameter statistical models for the two metallocene systems, respectively. The calculated meso/rac pentad distributions were found to be in good agreement with those determined experimentally for isotactic polypropylene samples obtained at different polymerization temperatures.

Abstract
A series of ansa-silylene(fluorenyl)(amido) titanium complexes (1a–1c, 2a, and 2b) bearing various substituents on the amido and fluorenyl ligands are synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, 1H NMR, and single crystal X-ray analysis. The coordination mode of the fluorenyl ligand to the titanium metal is η3 manner in each complex. The propylene polymerization is conducted with these complexes at 0 and 25 °C in a semi batch-type method, respectively. The catalytic activity of 1a–1c bearing cumyl-amido ligand is much higher than that of 2a and 2b bearing naphthyl group in amido ligand. High molecular weight polypropylenes are obtained with narrow molecular weight distribution, suggesting a living nature of these catalytic systems at 0 °C. The polymers produced are statistically atactic, regardless of the structure of the complex and the polymerization temperature.
