Abstract
This work reports that the redox-active metalloligand (ML) fac-[CrIII(mp)3]3- (mp: 2-mercaptophenolato) coordinates with a Co(III) ion to afford the trianionic complex [CoIII{fac-CrIII(mp)3}2]3-. The free ML shows ligand-centered redox processes, whereas the guest-metal-bound trinuclear structure exhibited a guest-metal-centered Co(II)/Co(III) redox couple, demonstrating redox switching through guest-metal binding to the MLs.

Abstract
Two mononuclear Ru(ii) complexes, i.e. [RuCl(κ3N-terpy)(κ2N-dpp)]PF6 ([1]PF6; terpy = 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine; dpp = 2,3-bis(2'-pyridyl-pyrazine) and [RuCl(κ3N-tpm)(κ2N-dpp)]Cl ([2]Cl; tpm = tris(1-pyrazolyl)methane), and one dinuclear complex, i.e. [Ru2Cl(κ3N-tpm)(μ-κ2N:κ2N-dpp)Ru(κ2N-bpy)2][PF6]3 ([3][PF6]3; bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine), have been synthesized and their water oxidation catalytic properties have been investigated. A combined DFT and experimental (35Cl NMR and conductivity measurements) study aimed to elucidate the nature of [1]+ and [2]+ in aqueous solution has also been performed, indicating that one water molecule is allowed to enter the first coordination sphere of [2]+ in the ground state, replacing one tpm nitrogen. Conversely, in the case of [1]+, water coordination, assumed to be needed for the water oxidation process, presumably occurs following the oxidation of the metal. For all complexes, a catalytic wave has been detected in acetonitrile/water 1 : 1 (v/v) solution in the range 1.4-1.7 V vs. SCE. In all cases, water oxidation (investigated at pH < 8) takes place initially via a proton-coupled two-electron, two-proton process with the formation of an Ru(iv)[double bond, length as m-dash]O moiety, followed by one electron oxidation and water nucleophilic attack. The TON and TOF values (within the range of 16-33 and 1.3-2.2 h-1, respectively) of the complexes are higher than those of the benchmark [Ru(LLL)(LL)(OH2)]2+-type species (LLL and LL are tridentate and bidentate polypyridine ligands, respectively), which is [Ru(terpy)(bpm)(OH2)]2+.

Abstract
The synthesis, characterisation and reactivity of new phosphine-functionalised tris(pyrazolyl)methane ligands (TpmPR2, 2a-c, with R = Ph, nBu, iPr) are presented. The reaction of 2a-c with [Rh(CO)2Cl]2 furnished N,P-heterochelate carbonyl complexes (3a-c), which were used to quantify the donor abilities of the ligands via IR spectroscopy. The coordination flexibility was demonstrated by treating representative members of this new ligand class with [CpRu(acn)3][PF6] (acn = acetonitrile), [(tht)AuCl] (tht = tetrahydrothiophene) and [Pd(allyl)Cl]2 providing either a N,N,P-heteroscorpionate complex (4) or the P-coordinated complexes (5,6) without any involvement of the pyrazolyl entities. With 2a and [Pd(cod)Cl2], another P,N-heterochelate complex (7) was obtained, which served as a precursor for a heterobimetallic complex containing palladium and copper (8). Detailed NMR spectroscopic and X-ray crystallographic investigations have been performed on all new complexes.

Abstract
Reaction of [Ir(μ-Cl)(COE)2]2 (COE = cis-cyclooctene) with tris(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)methane (MeTpm) affords [IrCl(κ1-N-MeTpm)(COD)] (1) (COD = 1,5-cyclooctadiene). The formation of 1 implies the transfer dehydrogenation of a COE ligand to give COD and COA (cyclooctane). A mechanistic proposal based on DFT calculations that explains this iridium promoted process has been disclosed. Additionally, reactivity studies have allowed the preparation and characterization, including determination of the molecular structures of a number of iridium complexes with the MeTpm ligand in κ1, κ2 or κ3-N coordination modes. Moreover, the first example of an Ir-cyclooctyl complex featuring hydride and carbonyl ligands, whose solid state structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction methods, is reported.

Abstract
Very high activities were observed in the redox-induced hydroamination of alkynes by employing a redox-active gold(i) complex featuring an electron-deficient, terphenyl-substituted phosphonite-based ligand. The hydroamination proceeds roughly two-fold faster with the in situ oxidized catalysts than with their reduced form.

Abstract
The tris[(1-isopropylbenzimidazol-2-yl)dimethylsilyl]methyl ligand, [TismPriBenz], has been employed to form carbatrane compounds of both the main group metals and transition metals, namely [TismPriBenz]Li, [TismPriBenz]MgMe, [TismPriBenz]Cu and [TismPriBenz]NiBr. In addition to the formation of atranes, a zinc compound that exhibits κ3-coordination, namely [κ3-TismPriBenz]ZnMe, has also been obtained. Furthermore, the [TismPriBenz] ligand may undergo a thermally induced rearrangement to afford a novel tripodal tris(N-heterocyclic carbene) variant, as shown by the conversion of [TismPriBenz]Cu to [κ4-C4-TismPriBenz*]Cu. The transannular M-C bond lengths in the atrane compounds are 0.19-0.32 Å longer than the sum of the respective covalent radii, which is consistent with a bonding description that features a formally zwitterionic component. Interestingly, computational studies demonstrate that the Cu-Catrane interactions in [TismPriBenz]Cu and [κ4-C4-TismPriBenz*]Cu are characterized by an "inverted ligand field", in which the occupied antibonding orbitals are localized more on carbon than on copper.

Abstract
The synthesis, structure, and full characterization of a redox-switchable germylene based on a [3]ferrocenophane ligand arrangement, [Fc(NMes)2 Ge] (4), is presented. The mesityl (Mes)-substituted title compound is readily available from Fc(NHMes)2 (2) and Ge{N(SiMe3 )2 }2 , or from the dilithiated, highly air- and moisture-sensitive compound Fc(NLiMes)2 ⋅3 Et2 O (3) and GeCl2 . Cyclic voltammetry studies are provided for 4, confirming the above-mentioned view of a redox-switchable germylene metalloligand. Although several 1:1 RhI and IrI complexes of 4 (5-7) are cleanly formed in solution, all attempts to isolate them in pure form failed due to stability problems. However, crystalline solids of [Mo(κ1 Ge-4)2 (CO)4 ] (8) and [W(κ1 Ge-4)2 (CO)4 ] (9) were isolated and fully characterized by common spectroscopic techniques (8 by X-ray diffraction). DFT calculations were performed on a series of model compounds to elucidate a conceivable interplay between the metal atoms in neutral and cationic bimetallic complexes of the type [Rh(κ1 E-qE)(CO)2 Cl]0/+ (qE=[Fc(NPh)2 E] with E=C, Si, Ge). The bonding characteristics of the coordinated Fc-based metalloligands (qE/qE+ ) are strongly affected upon in silico oxidation of the calculated complexes. The calculated Tolman electronic parameter (TEP) significantly increases by approximately 20 cm-1 (E=C) to 25 cm-1 (E=Si, Ge) upon oxidation. The change in the ligand-donating abilities upon oxidation can mainly be attributed to Coulombic effects, whereas an orbital-based interaction appears to have only a minor influence.

Abstract
Zwitterionic group 14 complexes of the alkali metals of formula [E(SiMe2OCH2CH2OMe)3M], where E = C, Si or Ge and M = Li, Na or K, have been prepared, structurally characterized and their electronic nature was investigated by computational methods.
Zwitterionic group 14 complexes of the alkali metals of formula [C(SiMe2OCH2CH2OMe)3M], (M-1), [Si(SiMe2OCH2CH2OMe)3M], (M-2), [Ge(SiMe2OCH2CH2OMe)3M], (M-3), where M = Li, Na or K, have been prepared, structurally characterized and their electronic nature was investigated by computational methods. Zwitterions M-2 and M-3 were synthesized via reactions of [Si(SiMe2OCH2CH2OMe)4] (2) and [Ge(SiMe2OCH2CH2OMe)4] (3) with MOBut (M = Li, Na or K), resp., in almost quantitative yields, while M-1 were prepared from deprotonation of [HC(SiMe2OCH2CH2OMe)3] (1) with LiBut, NaCH2Ph and KCH2Ph, resp. X-ray crystallographic studies and DFT calculations in the gas-phase, including calculations of the NPA charges confirm the zwitterionic nature of these compounds, with the alkali metal cations being rigidly locked and charge separated from the anion by the internal OCH2CH2OMe donor groups. Natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis and the second order perturbation theory analysis of the NBOs reveal significant hyperconjugative interactions in M-1–M-3, primarily between the lone pair and the antibonding Si–O orbitals, the extent of which decreases in the order M-1 > M-2 > M-3. The experimental basicities and the calculated gas-phase basicities of M-1–M-3 reveal the zwitterionic alkali metal methanides M-1 to be significantly stronger bases than the analogous silanides M-2 and germanium M-3.

Abstract
The reaction of the ligand precursors P[CH2NHAr(R)]3 () with (Me2N)3Mo[triple bond, length as m-dash]N generated the complexes P(CH2NAr(R))3Mo[triple bond, length as m-dash]N (), where Ar(R) = 3,5-(CH3)2C6H3 (), Ph (), and 3,5-(CF3)2C6H3 (), with (Me2N)3Mo[triple bond, length as m-dash]N generated the complexes P(CH2NAr(R))3Mo[triple bond, length as m-dash]N (). Complex was obtained in poor yield, due to the formation of P(CH2N-3,5-(CF3)2C6H3)2(CH2NH-3,5-(CF3)2C6H3)(NMe2H)(NMe2)Mo[triple bond, length as m-dash]N () as the major product. Reaction of with VMes3THF generated the paramagnetic complexes P(CH2NAr(R))3Mo(μ-N)V(Mes)3 (). The reaction of with Ni(acac)2 generated the Ni(0) complexes Ni[P(CH2NAr(R))3Mo[triple bond, length as m-dash]N]4 () in poor yield. These complexes were synthesized in higher yields from the reaction of with Ni(COD)2, where COD = 1,5-cyclooctadiene. Reaction of either with V(Mes)3THF or with Ni(COD)2 generated the paramagnetic nonanuclear complex Ni[P(CH2NAr(R))3Mo(μ-N)VMes3]4 ().

Abstract
Hitherto unknown Au→Al interactions have been evidenced upon coordination of the geminal phosphorus-aluminum Lewis pair Mes2 PC(=CHPh)AltBu2 (Mes=2,4,6-trimethylphenyl). Four different gold(I) complexes featuring alkyl (Me), aryl (Ph, C6F5), and alkynyl (C≡CPh) co-ligands have been prepared. X-ray diffraction analyses show that P→Au→Al bridging coordination induces noticeable bending of the ligand (the PCAl bond angle shrinks by 13°). This new type of transition metal→Lewis acid interaction has been analyzed by DFT calculations.
