Abstract
N,O-chelating dicarbonylhydrazido-palladium complexes were synthesized by treatment of 1,2-bis(trifluoroacetyl)hydrazine with a mixture of a Pd(0) source, [Pd(dba)2] (DBA = dibenzylideneacetone), and four-electron donors including 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)propane (DPPP), N,N,N’,N’-tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA), and two equivalents of triphenylphosphine. The same products from DPPP and TMEDA could be obtained alternatively by using Pd(OAc)2 through deprotonation of the diacylhydrazine. The five-membered chelate structure was confirmed by NMR spectra and X-ray crystal structure determination. The X-ray structures indicate that the products are formally considered as Pd(II) complexes with a hydrazido(2–) ligand. In the case of the triphenylphosphine-coordinated complex, a fluxional behavior in dichloromethane-d2 was observed by variable temperature NMR experiments, possibly due to structural changes between the square planar and pseudo-tetrahedral geometries.

Abstract
Unprecedented metallapyrazoles [IrH2{Ph2P(o-C6H4)CNNHC(o-C6H4)PPh2}] (3) and [IrHCl{Ph2P(o-C6H4)CNNHC(o-C6H4)PPh2}] (4) were obtained by the reaction of the irida-β-ketoimine [IrHCl{(PPh2(o-C6H4CO))(PPh2(o-C6H4CNNH2))H}] (2) in MeOH heated at reflux in the presence and absence of KOH, respectively. In solution, iridapyrazole 3 undergoes a dynamic process due to prototropic tautomerism with an experimental barrier for the exchange of ΔGcoal⧧ = 53.7 kJ mol-1. DFT calculations agreed with an intrapyrazole proton transfer process assisted by two water molecules (ΔG = 63.1 kJ mol-1). An X-ray diffraction study on 4 indicated electron delocalization in the iridapyrazole ring. The reaction of the irida-β-diketone [IrHCl{(PPh2(o-C6H4CO))2H}] (1) with H2NNRR' in aprotic solvents gave irida-β-ketoimines [IrHCl{(PPh2(o-C6H4CO))(PPh2(o-C6H4CNNRR'))H}] (R = R' = Me (5); R = H, R' = Ph (8)), which can undergo N-N bond cleavage to afford the acyl-amide complex [IrHCl(PPh2(o-C6H4CO))(PPh2(o-C6H4C(O)N(CH3)2))-κP,κO] (6) or [IrHCl(PPh2(o-C6H4CO))(PPh2(o-C6H4CN)-κP)(NH2NHPh-κNH2)] (9) containing o-(diphenylphosphine)benzonitrile and phenylhydrazine, respectively. From a CH2Cl2/CH3OH solution of 9 kept at -18 °C, single crystals of [IrHCl(PPh2(o-C6H4CO))(PPh2(o-C6H4CN)-κP))(HN═NPh-κNH)] (10) containing o-(diphenylphosphine)benzonitrile and phenyldiazene were formed, as shown by X-ray diffraction. The reaction of 1 with methylhydrazine in methanol gave the hydrazine complex [IrCl(PPh2(o-C6H4CO))2(NH2NH(CH3)-κNH2)] (7). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis was performed on 6 and 7.

Abstract
Various dienes and a triene can be regioselectively diaminated at the internal double bond with good yields and high diastereoselectivity using di-tert-butyldiaziridinone (5) as the nitrogen source and Pd(PPh(3))(4) (1-10 mol %) as the catalyst. Kinetic studies with (1)H NMR spectroscopy show that the diamination is first-order in total Pd catalyst and inverse first-order in PPh(3). For reactive dienes, such as 1-methoxybutadiene (6g) and alkyl 1,3-butadienes (6a, 6j), the diamination is first-order in di-tert-butyldiaziridinone (5) and zero-order in the olefin. For olefins with relatively low reactivity, such as (E)-1-phenylbutadiene (6b) and (3E,5E)-1,3,5-decatriene (6i), similar diamination rates were observed when 3.5 equiv of olefins were used. Pd(PPh(3))(2) is likely to be the active species for the insertion of Pd(0) into the N-N bond of di-tert-butyldiaziridinone (5) to form a four-membered Pd(II) complex (A), which can be detected by NMR spectroscopy. The olefin complex (B), formed from intermediate A via ligand exchange between the olefin substrate and the PPh(3), undergoes migratory insertion and reductive elimination to give the diamination product and regenerate the Pd(0) catalyst.

Abstract
Alkylgold(I) complexes were formed from the gold(I)-promoted intramolecular addition of various amine nucleophiles to alkenes. These experiments provide the first direct experimental evidence for the elementary step of gold-promoted nucleophilic addition to an alkene. Deuterium-labeling studies and X-ray crystal structures provide support for a mechanism involving anti-addition of the nucleophile to a gold-activated alkene, which is verified by DFT analysis of the mechanism. Ligand studies indicate that the rate of aminoauration can be drastically increased by use of electron-poor arylphosphines, which are also shown to be favored in ligand exchange experiments. Attempts at protodeauration lead only to recovery of the starting olefins, though the gold can be removed under reducing conditions to provide the purported hydroamination products.
